I realized that one of Bungie's best decisions has been to exclude matchmaking from raids and ToO.
I queued up with 2 of my friends in competitive and then quick play on Overwatch, and we were just getting THEE most horrid teammates.
From terrible character choices, zero awareness, to just down right lacking common sense, these players were nothing but a hindrance.
If it's one positive thing I have to say about Bungie is that they made the correct choice in excluding matchmaking from raids and ToO (while I do admit it should be added to Nightfalls).
To the people who have no friends still playing Destiny, rather than crying about being excluded from end game activities, find a group or make your own.
Stop being a lazy sack of shit.
(excuse my insensitivity to social anxiety)
**edit:
I came back to peruse some of these comments and it's astonishing to see so many people who lack reading comprehension or the ability to read.
First of all, I did not make any comparisons between OW and Destiny. I simply described a realization about matchmaking followed by a brief description of my experience while playing Overwatch (as my topic title suggests).
Second, never in my post did I mention that I wanted matchmaking to be abolished. I simply complimented Bungie to excluded matchmaking from activities that require heavy communication and teamwork such as raids and ToO.
And about optional matchmaking, no it personally does me no harm for it to exist and it's something I couldn't care less about. To be realistic, you won't see it in D1. Maybe in D2.

3 RepliesEdited by Iron: 10/20/2016 2:46:35 AMDid you know that there is a objective in the Psion Flayers strike that says go to Overwatch. Thought that was funny

9 RepliesYou know what I learned playing overwatch? Destiny can't be an MLG PvP game. There will never be balance with RNG stat rolls on weapons. Overwatch characters balance eachother and you know the range of a Roadhog shot is always the same. The problem is that Bungie gets influenced by streamers

Completely agree

4 RepliesYeah competitive is annoying in overwatch. People dont know good team comp and fail to protect support players. While playing mercy i find myself shooting more often than not trying to defend myself.

Edited by hemicar156: 10/19/2016 10:50:47 PMI never played overwatch, but if I did..
I would do it with Symmetra, YEA BOI!!
So if you were paired with 2 good players what would be your argument? Optional matchmaking is optional, and its the people who don't know how to play, not the games fault. Blame the people. I met plenty of randoms on Halo and what not, who were really good and became friends.

6 RepliesYou realized that Overwatch is utter shit?

1 ReplyThere needs to be matchmaking for Challenge of Elders though. Without the objectives, that shit is easier than Prison of Elders.
-
1 ReplyA chance of getting bad teamates is still better than no teamates.

as long as matchmaking isnt mandatory you will never run into that issue. every activity should have optional mm but never have mandatory mm. it takes care of both the casuals and the hardcore. i hate mandatory mm on destiny.

18 RepliesHe plays Overwatch....lol Haven't heard about that game since it bombed on Launch Day.

Bump bump bump bump bump bump bump
i have IRL friends that I play destiny with, and I have made PSN friends that I also play destiny with. It isn't hard to make friends.
Your reasoning is very flawed. You still have the ability to form your own fireteam. It is very unlikely that matchmade teams would do well, but why not give them the chance to try? At the very least, you don't need communication to beat the first two raids or prison of elders bosses.
-
So you have 1 bad game with bad teammates and somehow manage to conclude that matchmaking in a completely different game's end game activities would be a bad idea? Congratulations, you played yourself.
-
6 RepliesIf bungie wants us to group up they need to put tools IN THE GAME TO FIND OTHER PEOPLE. seriously going outside the game to find players is ridiculous.
-
1 ReplyEdited by Cowboybebop: 10/18/2016 8:25:57 PMLol grow a pair, your responses are cringe worthy. Your first mistake was playing competitive with a 2 man. You can't complain about anything if you decided that was an okay idea.

9 RepliesShut the #uck up you idiot

10 RepliesCS:GO Competitive has matchmaking. And that's way more hardcore than destiny, lol.
-
But you used it in overwatch? So if you'd have happened to be matched with another player like yourself then it would be a success right? Interesting. You happen to be matched with a couple of potatoes so the whole system is broken? Does t really prove anything. Optional matchmaking for those who want it. Nightfall matchmaking should have been a thing from the start.

1 ReplyOverwatch is better than Battleborn in my opinion
-
You are so right, matchmaking in raids is a god awful idea

Hey, I posted earlier & after reading your edit & some of your comments, I want to apologize, I should have asked for clarification on who you were calling lazy before typing. I also want to clarify that I was not upset or angry, even though I gave the first part that tone. For what it is worth, you make some very valid points. Thank you for adding the edit.

2 RepliesYou should see horde mode in GoW 4. Holy f* I didn't think people could be so bad at PvE at even casual difficulty.

1 ReplyI hate Overwatch. Reported 😉

Edited by SoloXYZed: 10/18/2016 7:19:47 PMAnyone who's done the final step to the exotic sword quests knows there's a lot of -blam!-ing retards who can't follow one simple instruction nevermind a raid.

17 RepliesDevelop some intelligence and healthy social behavior, dude. Stop being a lazy sack of shit and stop finding excuses for your asinine character. Not asking for ToO MM, just resenting your shitty attitude. People like you should be forced to attend special courses and successfullly finish an exam before being allowed to say anything in public.
