Assuming nobody cheats and everybody has a perfect local internet connection: some of the players in your pvp match are from different geographical areas and the distance and number of routers between you brings lag.
You might say "It is a skill based matchmaking (SBMM) and we like it". Honestly I do not see it is working when a half of my team does not know what to do in the game of control. Or even clash. They get disoriented, run in circles and die like summer flyes on a cold russian august night.
I live in New York and can play proper games after Germans go to bed and before Hawayans wake up. It's about 3 hour window.
The solution would be to match players from the same location by advertising local events like "Big fighting night in New Zealand with great rewards!".
I want this game to have less lag. Lag takes the fun away from the game. I do not want to see people from New Zealand playing with me or against me. I like Newzealanders, but internets do not do any good for us.
SBMM was introduced to reduce waiting time in orbit while the game fills up empty slots on the teams with players of relevant skill.
In reality our teams get filled up with lagging, often inexperienced players, while waiting time in orbit was not dramatically changed, it's still abysmal.
Bungle, if you wish to continue this SBMM experiment, add a switch to the game so the players would choose matchmaking type they prefer: SB or CB (connection based). Players would decide what works better for them, and not some unnamed person at Bungie. I do not want to see redbars. Period.
Bungle, I know you are busy, but do respond to this message.

Been saying region lock for ages...
-
8 RepliesJust put in red bar lobbies, let them do battle with each other
-
Redbars that are obvious lag situations should be kicked to orbit. It should be that simple, no questions asked. I seriously don't get it. They destroy matches, especially in trials. This is the fix that NEEDS TO HAPPEN before year 3 trials.
-
Make servers that pool all the redbars together. More fair for the entire community. It'll never happen tho.
-
Lag switcher? Watch the video you decide whether this guy should be banned for life. https://youtu.be/8VNt4daKOtM I mean having lag that bad you should be put in jail
-
Should be lag based matchmaking because put all the cheaters with the cheats
-
Also remove lag switching fags and have a forum where you can name and shame the cheaters of this game and upload videos proving there clearly cheating
-
2 RepliesSigned! Also how the -blam!- do you red bar in the tower? Seriously you may have "unlimited" GB but ur freaking ping must be 30mins for -blam!- sake, anyone who red bars should NOT be able to play crucible or Raids because they ruin it for everyone else.
-
3 RepliesThumbs down. I have perfect gigabit speed internet, yet sometimes I'm in the red and get punished for it. Now there's the other side of the coin where a redbar is almost invincible which does suck. The only solution really is to leave the match if you are in red or the other team has redbar invincibility. Bungie will never have dedicated servers and will never matchmake with local people.
-
1 ReplyRed bar players aren't the issue, I've played against many players who were red bar and I was able to kill them, n they were able to kill me, its more like a 1-3 millisecond delay when you shoot them but no biggie because you know why? It's just a game, Get over it kid. What's with people nowadays? Taking red bar so seriously lmfao oh he killed you, respawn and get revenge. Simple as that.
-
20 RepliesIf they are green in the lobby... and go red bar immediately upon launching, they are trying to force host migration so their lag switch works. I ALWAYS report this and block the players. Bungie should pay closer attention to the reports. Lag switches and host forcing is out of hand.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE For SAKE OF GOD!

SBMM is trash. I used to support it but then I went 7 for 29 and realized it just doesn't help. I don't care if I'm at the losing side of a no mercy match as long as I'm winning close to 50%. I spent over 7 hours finishing the weekly crucible bounty for 7 wins. I can solo this week's nightfall with all 3 characters with time to spare in that time.
-
Don't hate the player hate the game maker, you know the one that don't run dedicated servers and still puts more effort towards pvp.
-
Ive played on connections up to 150 down and over 30 up and still got red bar in destiny. Lol. With an ethernet hookup. Destiny is garbage with that crap and will red bar or kick you even if you arent lagging.
-
No because it's usually a result of bad connection peer to peer rather than an individual player having a bad connection. Plenty of people have red bars with good internet - it would mean kicking out almost everyone at some point
-
Yea bad news this it will never be fixed bungie wants people to have long distance friendships with people in different countries tries not realizing not everyone speaks the same language so it doesn't help. I don't have a problem with anyone item doesn't matter who it is so don't get me wrong. But I'm sick of the red bars that bring down every session wether it's in pvp or pve everything lags an messes with everyone's connections. Easy way to fix this multiple servers for ever country an region of that country. So if your in the U.S you play against people in the U.S if your from china you play against people in china ect. That's how you fix the problem it's all about servers but bungie is lazy as hell an doesn't want to deal with it so blame bungie.
-
its player to player connection bro. sbmm. that is what really is to blame. matching people up that have no business being connected to each other. everyone is red every now and again.
-
Edited by Hoops: 9/8/2016 8:07:37 AMEveryone would be removed then. If you see a red bar player then chances are you would be a red bar at their end. Im in New Zealand and our connection to the USA is often better than players connecting inside the USA as your country is a big cluster-blam!- of a network. I do agree with you on the east coast, you might as well be in china. We do have a good connection to the west coast however.
-
They need to make massive improvements to their p2p.im over the dedicated servers deal,it's not happening..I think it a poor host selection system plus some over turned up lag compensation
-
1 ReplyThat is a really good point. There doesn't seem to be any criteria at all when it pairs people up. It can't be SBMM, because my teammates are always idiots. And it can't be CBMM, because at least 2/3 of the lobby is bottoming out on their connections. I'm starting to think the MM is just as much RNG as the rest of the damn game.
-
So it's my fault that I'm being matched against people in Bhutan? Riiight.
-
But then what would 99% of the feedback posts be about? Oh yeah. Nerfs still. Never mind
-
2 RepliesEveryone I know goes red once in a while. Imagine you're going for the 9th Trials win and you go red, then booted. Adios.....
-
Riiiight. Because green never means lag. Plus, if you want most players to be removed from every game then this is a great idea. Where's that slow clap emote when you need it...
-
1 ReplyI can be green bar and still lag ass! It's all lies, don't believe the bar lol
