Latency issues (again) in Crucible
Bungie, whatever you did in the last patch made the Crucible almost unplayable. I have a great internet connection and every other online game I play doesn't have lag. You're wonderful game that I love so much is, on the other hand, either occasionally bad or horrendously bad consistently in the Crucible. Whether you implement dedicated servers or do connection based matchmaking, you need to fix this. In no other game so I experience lag. In Destiny, it often gets to the point where it's unplayable. Super kills not registering, meleeing five times and no kill, a shotgun hit point plank that does no or almost no damage, shots that don't register, etc. I know this is not my issue, since every other game works fine. For the love of all that is good, do something about this. We love this game, but you make it hard to keep playing it sometimes. When this game works, it's awesome. Help us love you, Bungie. It's not hard.

1 ReplyLatency DOES seem off compared to b4, pvp players will always notice a difference in the slightest changes and thats what every1 is doing Bad connections should be punished, not rewarded. Laggy players have effing advantages and it's extremely stressful and annoying Bungie can't see they're making crucible less fun for all. Year 1 was addicting and fun, now look what happened

I mean people have been walking away from golden gun shots. It really seems like it's on purpose. I'll be on a team winning, then all of the sudden some switch is flipped. No one on the other team can hardly be killed. Anyone else experienced this?

You're right, but Bungie will tell you it's your connection somehow. They are so f***ing lazy to fix anything. All they do is nerf, nerf, nerf.

This IB has been the worst experience I can remember in any game I've ever played. I'd guess at least half of my shots aren't registering (including a number of direct rocket hits). I just had to leave a game and walk away before I broke my controller because of opponents continually taking no damage from point blank Lord of Wolves shots and then one-hit meleeing me. Think I need to seek out a therapist to find out why I keep playing this game 🙁

One of their key staff members who is tasked with keeping things good literally said during the week "We created custom games so you can have fun arcadey games and not worry about our matchmaking". They know the Crucible and it's matchmaking is a mess and that's their solution, a band aid at best, beneath which lies a festering sore. Without any exaggeration I see on average in 6's, 4 red bars per lobby, then of course there is the fake green bars who lag just as bad. Most of the time the people lagging the worst in my lobbies aren't even in the same hemisphere, literally some of them have a 500+ ping to host, and will just dominate, whilst taking no damage for most of the game.

I've noticed in IB that full fireteams lag the most. I'm assuming it's because when people form a fireteam they aren't concerned with geographical location but I'm not sure. Anyway, I try to stay away from these lobbies. Latency tends to differ from lobby to lobby. Make sure you avoid playing full fireteams and go back to orbit if you notice too much lag.

I'm always fine. See the odd red bar in trials but the majority of my games have been fine. Played 4 laggy games in a row yesterday and we just about scrapped a win from them all. I stopped playing iron banner because of the lag about 3 month ago. I don't know why but IB is always twice as bad.

I'm ok with lag in games it happens. But -blam!- me Destiny is the only game where it is an advantage to you to be laggy. Damage referee is totally useless.

1 ReplyEvery game has lag. Deal with it. Have you seen the BO3 Servers? If one person lags, everyone lags with them. At least it's not the case for this game. :/

It's not hard.[/quote] You took the words right out of my mouth brother it's way way works on PS3 I just ordered the destiny collection upgrade for PS4 I'm praying that it's better this iron Banner is gross I have matches where I'll go 25 + 5 doing great another matches or I just get wrecked over and over and over I know I'm not a super player but I'm well above average and to just get melted continually while they sponge up the bullets is Ludacris

2 RepliesLast night I had more problems with people showing green bars than I care to count. One player in particular was literally teleporting around the screen the whole game. Would pop out of nowhere and all of a sudden be right in front of me with a shotgun to the face. When he used his storm caller and lagged around the whole time killing everyone is when I decided to call it quits. Too frustrating, I'll just play overwatch until we have better CONNECTION BASED matchmaking. Or dedicated servers...

With the new modes in crucible coming out with RoI, it's going to spread the PvP community out even more, and it's going to get a LOT worse.

Yah I used to be able to play without any issues. For the last couple months I can't play without crippling amounts of lag. It's got to the point were my sparrows lag... I literally feel like a snail ,while everyone else goes flying past me.... 😒

Whatever happened to the damage referee ??? He never worked a minute on this issue Something that was told to us and never happened.... smh They invited all the youtubers ( who mostly play pvp) to their studio for RoI and no one talked about lag in the game They cover it up with private matches You can't play your friends for Trials or IB, what's the point. Maybe by year 7 we'll get cbmm or dedicated servers !!!

Yeh the connections have been weird this IB. Green bars but they don't take damage, I feel like a muppet with no thumbs some games then others the same guns work as I'm used to...

Edited by SpakulatorX: 8/21/2016 11:41:00 AMIt wasn't the patch, they changed matchmaking settings back on the 10th, and again broke the crucible. X10 more latency issues. There was a post up for feedback about it, but now it's gone and they still haven't changed the settings back or tried to fix it for almost 2 weeks now. They are most likely using iron banner to gather info on it, hopefully next week they make some changes. I haven't played any iron banner this week and I've played every one since launch. -blam!- bungie stop -blam!-ing up this game.

1 ReplyIt's quite strange this IB! I use my LHF hand cannon all the time since y1, I really saw all the ups and downs with HCs throughout y2, very hard times!!! This IB though there have been a few games were I could use this gun exactly how it should be and how it was in y1 and I've been screaming of joy and loving it!!! But every next game I couldn't kill nothing, emptied full mags into people right in front of me, rockets right between the eyes or clear sniper head shots... Nothing!! But some games feel better then they did in a loooooonnngg time, so I see some light (just a tiny one!!) at the end of the tunnel...

I love this game but I too lag. It's a temporary thing. My significant other and I had a child in recent months, and I originally live elsewhere due to work. Where I should currently be living, I play the best because I have good internet and a setup (monitor, Xbox One Elite, the Elite Controller etc). HOWEVER, I am not home and I am elsewhere so playing online is a difficult task, too many people on the internet/accessing wifi and I can't hold a stable connection to save my life. So, I apologize in advance to all I have come across and have killed, or those who have had trouble in killing my Guardian. I just hope the feedback doesn't bite me in the ass before Rise of Iron via Crucible ban. Perhaps I should lay off the Crucible before heading home within the next few weeks?

It have something to do with the netcode, cheaters and decreased player base and the match making that match you up with people on the other side of the world because of it.
