I feel as though the current system for infusing an exotic with another exotic is somewhat unfair. Not only does it cost an exotic, it also costs an exotic shard. It would be better if the exotic shard was not required when infusing an exotic into another exotic, since you are already sacrificing one.
Edit 1: Allow me to expand on this idea for some of you. Imagine a scenario where you have, for example, a 325 Helm of Saint 14. Oryx is not dropping a helmet for you. But low and behold, you get a helmet engram that turns into a 335 Apotheosis Veil. Now for someone that doesn't play a Warlock, my options are shard it and wait for a legendary, or go ahead and infuse it into my 325 helm. Since I don't need it, I decide to go ahead and infuse it. There goes that shard I could have gained, and because of the cost, there goes another shard. This may not matter as much in end game, but in the buildup to max light, this could cost you a lot of shards. That is what I don't like about the current system.

Would you like for my bro to start selling Exotic Shards again? He found them to be a waste of space in his inventory since not many Guardians bought them from him.
-
4 Repliesare people really that dry on shards that this is a problem?
-
Since taken king iv never gone lower than having 60 shards in my inventory lol i started ttk with over 100, this post i feel only applies to the newcomers or just people who were stupid.

What are Exotics? Oh, those..... the ones that used to be good...... ok

Commonsense is not welcomed here. Leave now.

This actually makes a lot of sense
-
It should cost 2 shards for exotic into exotic infusion
-
1 ReplyI have thought the same since the introduction of infusion.......if I dismantle a legendary into an exotic I should need a shard because dismantling a legendary doesn't give a shard....BUT if I infuse an exotic into an exotic or legendary I should not need to spend a shard because dismantling the exotic for infusion should provide the shard

19 RepliesEdited by The Woolldozer: 8/5/2016 3:34:57 PMThen, we'd all have a million exotic shards. They really aren't hard to come by. Just because something sounds like a good idea, doesn't mean it is one. A better idea to avoid a surplus of shards is to have infusing a legendary into an exotic cost two shards. Then, you could infuse an exotic into another exotic, with no cost in shards.

3 RepliesI've got about a hundred exotic shards in my vault, with 3 of coins now being in the game as well as strange coins being easier then ever to aquire, a lack of exotic shards should not be an issue.

Agreed. Bump. Bungie take note please

I agree wholeheartedly and have wanted the same thing. It's not like you can get shards from bounties like you can marks. It's not like you can get shards for glimmer like you can for weapon parts. I mean, there is Xur, but -blam!- Xur and anyone that likes him. Besides buying gear, just to break it down is -blam!-ing stupid. Just sell the dam shards. On a side note...what seems to work pretty well for me is, leveling up the exotics so that I get 2 shards when I dismantle them. You don't even need to actually spend the glimmer and materials, just max experience.
-
Well, you lose 3-5 legendary marks, and usually more weapon/armour parts (legendaries all breakdown into more parts than blues) when you influse legendaries into other weapons. Soo, that sucks too.

Don't infuse your exotics until you're near 335. It just wastes shards.

Upvoted.

Dude, that's awesome. Bump

Bumps and stuff!

Agree

Agreed, I find it aggravating

3 RepliesNo. Exotics need that extra piece to make them more unattainable. Also if you need shards just farm three of coins. Dismantle exotic gear=shards 4 lyf
