So there's been some controversy about whether or not we can save up our Blue and Legendary Engrams for Rise of Iron; so my question is: Can you Save them?
Also, if Bungie has said something "official" could you link the information so I can see for myself?

Edited by jay p: 7/3/2016 7:39:58 PMHere is the definitive answer: we don't know. 1. Saving engrams didn't work for TDB, HoW or TtK. 2. Saving engrams did work for the December and April updates. 3. Most likely, it's because they created all new loot pools for TDB, HoW, and TtK. However, they probably just "expanded" the existing TtK loot pool for the December and April updates. 4. Most likely, RoI will involve the creation of a new loot pool, which means saving engrams won't give you updated loot from decryptions. 5. However, ranking up any faction to almost a new level, then leveling up the faction after release of RoI will give you updated loot. So ranking up any faction or the cryptarch to one engram/bounty away from a level, then decrypting that engram after the update will give you new loot and/or new engrams. Edit: assuming the factions and the cryptarch exist in the same fashion as they do now.

Only for getting a post update Cryptarch package.
-
You can save engrams to use to rank up your cryptarch rank which could give u legendarys that become new gear
-
Sure, but you aren't going to get Rise of Iron gear. It's a dlc, therefore there will be new gear. Your engrams will be worthless
-
The contents of engrams are determined at the moment of creation, not decryption.
-
As people have said hoarding exotics is best really in terms of light level enyway. The others won't be much use really.
-
I'm hoarding exotic engrams. Got about 15 weapon and 20 armour so far. I doubt very much they'll decrypt into new stuff, but they'll definitely help with higher light.
-
9 RepliesYou can save them, but they will not decrypt into RoI weapons but TTK ones. What i did during HoW is almost ranking up all the factions in my three characters for TTK.

Edited by marcran75: 7/3/2016 6:14:11 PMSaving exotics will be good for leveling your light quickly and cryptarch rep for packages but won't get you any new gear after RoI.
-
3 RepliesSave the puple packages from fractions and crucible from levelling them up and open them after dlc and u will get latest rewards
-
With updates saving exotics can net you the new stuff. However with expansions it didn't seem to work. I did this and the only time I got the new stuff was with just the updates. Bungie hasn't said anything about it.
-
Save your exotics.

5 RepliesI am ALMOST certain XD I would open them now anyway to be honest. Bungie have confirmed that our current arsenal will carry over into year two. Someone on the forums linked the article where they confirmed that in a post. I don't have the link, I just know it was an interview between bungie and gamerant

Edited by MegaSword: 7/3/2016 5:59:35 PMEven if it doesn't work, you can still rank up your Cryptarch rank to get package.
-
Didn't this not work for TTK?
-
Probably not. This isn't a small update, but a full expansion.
-
Yes you can save them.
insert Lenny face
