So, now that we got our official reveal of Rise of Iron, it's time to speculate what the SIVA plague actually is.
Considering all of the Warmind motifs around the plague areas and on the infected Fallen, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to assume this SIVA may be a fallen Warmind that's morphed into some kind of technological plague of some sort.
What do you guys think?

1 ReplyA Destroyer, I think Bungie got this idea from a Hindu God named SHIVA. He is known as "the destroyer." They just removed the "H" from Shiva.

2 RepliesI think, based off the trailer of the weird aliens with peg legs, the SIVA is a war mind which is made up of other robotic beings. Or it's an attempt of self aware AI during the collapse to defend the city and how scarce guardians were to defend the Last City while being on other planets. The AIs figured out that the darkness is almighty, and it's inevitable to win the war, and turned on their creators and were sealed back by the Iron Lords. Just a theory, I'm sure I'm wrong, but it's a fun idea.😀

It is mutated glimmer. The glimmer has been our slave for too long. Forced into being whatever we want it to be, the glimmer now makes us into what it wants.

It's a song by The Smashing Pumpkins. Fallen love listening to The Smashing Pumpkins.

2 RepliesWhat if SIVA is actually a shattered Warmind. There seems to be a lot of evidence to support the fact that a much larger force is behind "the plague" than a random outbreak. Also, we see in the trailer that a Warmind bunker is filed with this plague membrane, leading to the possibility that SIVA is being created by someone or something. Also, the SIVA emblem looks like a shattered Warmind symbol. Coincidence? I think not.

I agree with a nano virus, probably a type of doomsday weapon that was hastely created at the start of the collapse by humanity in order to combat the invaders of earth that has mutated into a hostile threat for all earth dwellers. It was probley taken in by a war mind at first to control it but has sinced gained sentience and now has infected the very warmind used to control it.

1 ReplySiva is stated to be a techno organic virus My best assumption about this is some form of nano technology from the golden age that acts like a virus allowing whatever is controlling the nano bots to control the host body, it also appeared a warmind is responsible for this virus so likely this new warmind is in control of the virus and thus in control of these infected fallen Which if thats the case then the strike would be against the infected captain and the raid would be against this evil warmind, we may get some help from Rasputin on this one

Edited by Vexacious_Red: 6/10/2016 4:26:17 PMProbably some Warmind experiment gone wrong, and I bet it's a sentient being. Just using the Fallen as tools to infect the rest of the world. It probably infected a Warmind and used it as an "avatar" to tempt the Fallen to find and use it. These are just some theories I have about SIVA anyway. :/ SIVA probably even stands for: Supremely Intellectual Viralytic Anomaly

5 RepliesI was thinking the exact same thing. You just beat me to writing this post, lol. Anyways, I think it's almost certain that SIVA is the result of a corrupted/rogue Warmind that has somehow managed to create a biotechnological virus. Not only do we see Warmind chambers with the SIVA membrane everywhere, but the actual symbol of SIVA is a shattered Warmind emblem. Although this might seem surprising to most, I believe that the Warmind in question is Rasputin, the Warmind of Earth. This would explain as to why Rasputin shot down The Traveler (unless it was an attempt to stop it) and why he dismembered the group of Guardians who attempted to make contact with him (revealed in the Fallen S.A.B.E.R strike) Perhaps it is possible that when the Vex attempted to gain control of the Rasputin they ended up infecting him. This infection could have cause Rasputin to initiate the protocol (MIDNIGHT EXIGENT if I recall correctly) that caused all the Warminds to go dormant. It's not impossible to think that Rasputin would have had this power since Earth was basically the Milky Way Galaxy's hub during the golden age and humans wanted the main Warmind to be located on home soil.

2 RepliesIt's likely a technological virus formed from colonies of self replicating nano-machines. I suspect SIVA may be under the control of a rouge warmind.

4 RepliesOnce, a Warmind sought to understand, and utilize, Vex technology. It used nanomachines in an attempt to infiltrate Vex systems, but the Vex systems fought back. This lead to corruption of both sides, creating a new being of sorts. This drew the attention of the Vex, who began their campaign of terror against us because of it.
