The Multitude of Snipers in PvP is anti-fun

1-2 snipers in a match on either side, that's fine. But there are matches where I join in, the score is 3k to 1k in the first min. Why? Because there's 6 snipers on each side, and 4 of them are using shotguns with their snipers. You can't poke your head out without BulletMagnet420QuickAimAsScope pulling a pop-shot of your face. Heck, half the games I play there's 3 snipers in the same f*ing spot all f*ing game. Try to flank? Their supers are up. Go another way? There's 2 snipers over there. Sit back? Oh look, Golden Gun. Try and rush? There's been 3 tripmines set up in front of them for the past 10minut... One explod... And it's back up. Something has to be done. Quickscoping wasn't the problem. The problem is how much aim assist and magnetism snipers have. Snipers shouldn't even have magnetism to begin with. The fact that both are coupled with the highest range weapon in the game is absolutely insane. Bungie, many of your players are from Halo. Don't you think they could land a snipe without having the system guide their bullet for them? Take off aim assist and/or magnetism for sniper rifles. What would taking off Aim Assist do? When you swipe a player's body, your reticule slows when it's over them. If you push in the direction they are and shoot, you'll more than likely land a headshot if not a body shot. Taking off Aim Assist would remove the ease of swiping and result in less sniping. This means it's be safer... Safe to actually fight a sniper at mid-close range. What would taking off Bullet Magnetism do? When you shoot someone in the chest, or around their head [but not directly on] range will factor in bullet magnetism for the sniper. Turning a potential bodyshot or miss into a headshot. Taking off Bullet Magnetism would reduce the occurance of quickscoping, alleviate dragscoping to a degree, and result in snipers needing to 2-shot you in instances that would normally require 1. This would also heavily affect those moments where snipers currently land headshots like it's no problem when a high calibur auto rifle is wailing away at them. Getting rid of that free leeway for a weapon that requires precision. Something has to be done. Changing ammo supply wont do it. Only changing what in-game mechanics the weapon type benefits from will do it. Note: Removing aim assist would assist in res-sniping and stop your rifle from being deterred by enemies running back and forth in front of your target. Removing Magnetism would make shots that shouldn't normally hit, miss; and make shots that should normally hit, land.

          They won't nerf snipers sadly, they think adding zoom to the scopes (which didn't even do much) is enough lol. They need to get rid of aim assist or add in flinch. Also, I'm not sure about this but do you scope out from your sniper in Halo if you get shot? I haven't used a sniper in Halo since forever.

          • I'm from halo and remember that feeling of scoring those headshots with the unsc sniper. To to kill. Those were the days when sniping took skill. This..... Isn't sniping.

            • First off, primaries are weak right now so of course people are going to use specials because they are more effective. Second, you are getting killed by mostly good players. Removing aim assist would completely get rif of the purpose to use a sniper. You are terrible at seeing the big picture

              • I used a Mida to eliminate snipers all the time in Y1. Unless things have changed significantly since then, and from what I've read, not that much to warrant a change to my old approach, use a Mida with an agility boost and make use of the ADS movement speed for strafing. Utilize figure-8/infinity symbol strafe patterns and counter directional strafes, but make sure you land those head shots. Also, if you get the jump on one (check for scope glints in the distance and elevated positions in shooting lane areas) they're dead.

                  • Snipers need more flinch. Simple fix. Bungie already nerfed shotguns' stow and ready time. Players could be jumping over your head and the time it takes to hipfire the shotgun upwards you're already dead. Its because Bungie nerfed the handling as well. How is this a fair trade off to snipers?? Time to add a reasonable nerf to snipers. More FLINCH. Nothing pisses you off more than a sniper getting the headshot on you while you're giving them PRECISION DAMAGE. Makes no sense. And this is coming from a guy who snipes most of the time.

                      Guys remember those headshots snipers get on you after shooting them first are just lucky shots! All the players are just that [b]lucky[/b] to get them so often in the same match! Nothing broken about snipes. Who cares if they're more reliable at close range than a shotgun...

                          The problem you suffer from is "super salt." Besides that the reason snipers have increased is due to the lackluster nature of primaries due to nerfs. It's also becuase shotguns got a nerf. Even though they are just as effective as before because of the primary nerfs. What happened was that ttk for primary went up. Since it takes longer to kill someone it gives people more time to line up their shot. It also encourages people to use weapons with faster ttk such as sniper rifles and shot guns. Also, people have been playing this game for a long. Over a year, they have learned all the in's and out's of the game. They know how others player and gotten ridiculously good at predicting what you are going to be doing. Because of this players will get more headshots and simply be beast at quickscoping. Nothing you want will fix the problem. In fact, if you nerf snipers all that will happen is an increase in camping. Every single weapon in the game has aim assist. Some shotguns have more aim assist then snipers and they have a reticle when you aren't scoped. By removing it, it would destroy the game. All console games have aim assist.

                              It is not necessary to purely remove Aim assist and magnetism due to the range. Just reduce them. Make them really imperceptible but existent. No lie... We choose our snipers for two main reasons: impact and Aim assist. The shape and the color comes after. I come from Halo too. But really... Stop with this easy argument... Destiny IS NOT HALO. Like Destiny is NOT COD or DOOM... It's just another perfectible FPS. I don't want Destiny to be like Halo or near of Halo, because Halo is a masterpiece and Destiny is a baby yet, we have to let him grow up. If i want to play Halo, i start Halo, i dont want to play Halo on Destiny. There is tons of other arguments you can use to proof something. Edit: I really wanted to down vote this topic because it call for nerf... Another nerf... We really suffered for nerf those last months.... But i think it's really pertinent... Sometimes i land on a game where it is frustrating to be useless due to MagicBodyHeadShots. Special weapons are specials not primaries

                              • Played a ton of IB, and not once did I feel that snipers were overwhelming. I actually liked the fact that so many people continued to try and snipe. It was an easy 3 head shot kill with my high impact scout as they were trying to chase me around while hard scoping. After getting killed 2 or 3 times they decided that it was personal and tried to chase me down with nades and shottys instead.

                              • The only time snipers are a problem to me is durning trials but, I suck at 3v3 modes. As for 6v6 please snipe all you want because me or one of my team are going to flank and mow you down. Anytime we come across snipers it's push them from every angle and destroy. Communication with your team will help you beat out snipers every time.
