No hypotheticals.
Optional matchmaking - which mission will you be affected by it?
It only seems circular, because you've never answered the question. Do it, and prove me wrong.
And I'm not arguing against my position - I'm arguing FOR optional matchmaking. This should be fairly straight forward. I've stated this MANY times. Nowhere did I state that I prefer mandatory matchmaking for all activites (if I did - please point that out).
*edit: I think I found the flaw in this discussion. It appears you may not understand what the word "optional" means. It may also explain why you would remotely think I prefer matchmaking.

So youre not for mm but for optional? Your hypocrisy knows no bounds. So you dont like apples but like apple juice? Your arguement is failed right there. None of your points make sense. You want to solo something intended for 3 people because you want to prove to the internet you can do it. That has nothing to do with a games mechanics or future. Its something you as a single entity wish to do. You have stated you know how to implement in a way where it will be optional for all in all situations from crucible to raid to trials. How would it positive and how would you be able to implement it? You cant and wont anwer that question. Ive answered yours but not the way YOU want them answered. So, if youbare retired, and you are so knowledgeable on the math and code, you have the time to spell it out. Because i dont think you do. But youll keep it in your head you are. But youre not lol. You wont defend your bluff and no one here has agreed with you. Lets go. Break it down.

Edited by JasperGTR: 5/19/2016 7:37:31 PMYou still haven't answered. And your analogy is flawed. If you are given the choice of optional apple juice, you can choose when to drink it (or not). If the apple juice is mandatory - then everyone MUST drink it (MM). If it is not offered, you must bring it yourself if you want any at all (LFG). Optional matchmaking would allow everyone individually to decide if they want to accept the apple juice provided, or choose whether to bring your own - or (my preference) decide that you don't want any at all. Optional gives us all a choice now, doesn't it? It also doesn't imply that because a choice is given, that the quality of apple juice is going to deteriorate because of the "distractions" of whether to continue making the same apple juice or not. Please answer - which mission will you be negatively affected by optional matchmaking. I still think you don't understand what optional means. And - in case you missed it - I as a single entity already have a solution. I load 3 consoles, then leave 1 or 2 of them AFK, so I can solo if I wish. You seem to be making a lot of assumptions - none of which address the simple question I asked, and by now you and I both know you don't have an answer. I said in the beginning - optional matchmaking has no negative affects (or downsides, or logical argument against it). So which mission will you be negatively affected? I missed it in your last response.

Lol "in the beginning"? So you go from not at all to the begining. Lol youre flailing all over the place. Still havent answered my question. Ive done yours over and over again. How would you use the math and already implemented mm in the game to make it smooth in raids and end game activities? And three consoles? Lol. Lol. Lol. Thats your counter? Lol. Just stop. Youre an idiot. Go home. You cannt explain how easy it is to implement and you constantly change positions and ideas. Lol youre garbage. You dont have a family nor are you retired. Youve given nothing to state otherwise. But hey you can try the good guy troll mentality. You wont get the last word and you wont win. Especially with the shit responses and, oh ill just use three consoles with three diffrent accounts. Lol. Lololololololol

Edited by JasperGTR: 5/19/2016 7:53:11 PMThis was my first response to you:
Optional... You'd have a choice to continue NOT using it. How would that affect you?
You'll notice that nothing has changed. I stated optional at the beginning (just in case you got confused), and I asked where you would be affected in this game. You haven't stated which mission/activity that you will be negatively affected. I offered no hypothetical scenarios, and spoke in no circles. You still have no understanding of the term optional, and you still haven't answered my question since my first response. If you have - please show me which activity you said you'd be affected by optional matchmaking.
-
If you could please answer my question instead of deflecting my question. And it will negatively impact end game because it will force them to make new difficulties. There. Done. Answer mine.

Edited by JasperGTR: 5/19/2016 8:37:48 PMThat is not an activity able to be selected at the director. Please specify. I'm just looking for a simple activity where you'd be negatively impacted by optional matchmaking. *edit: I'm sitting on your magical answer (it's killing me to not answer your most recent question), just waiting for a current activity by name (even specify a number of players if you wish). I'll even answer if you say there is no way you'll possibly be negatively impacted by optional matchmaking, and that it's a great idea.
-
If course you are. But you wont tell me because you dont actually have one. Such a cope out lol. Ive said trials and end game activities and you ignore it lol. Still not getting the last word mr interesting. Lets see your answer. Youre dying to tell it but you dont have anything to say. You have nothing lol.
-
I can't wait. So you're saying that YOUR Raid activities, as they currently are, as well as Trials of Osiris would be negatively impacted? Just confirming, so I can answer your question.
-
I already stated it will be. As it will lead to eveything I said.
-
Also - for the record, Elimination is the same as Trials with matchmaking (light levels excluded), right? So from Tuesday through Thursday - matchmaking, light levels excluded. Friday though Monday - no matchmaking, light levels included. Just to clarify that both of these mechanics exist for the same event (Elimination). Side note (no response required) : This was exactly my point that Bungie already has done the work for matchmaking and no matchmaking, it would take longer to make the second button option appear on the director than it would to actually implement optional matchmaking. Also - see: Heroic Strikes vs Nightfall Strikes in Year 1. They use to be the same - one had matchmaking, one did not. Same mission, albeit with modifiers. Same content, but one with an added challenge (use to be a lot more at risk with getting kicked to orbit upon death). Right now in a Raid, you can form your own fire team of 2-6, correct? (again, no response) If optional matchmaking were implemented, you'd still be able to launch with a fire team of 2-6 (just as before). So everything you were doing yesterday, could be EXACTLY the same today if it were implemented. Bungie also states (in Queen's Ransom Bounties) to take a fireteam and seek out various Taken Blights, etc... I'm not sure about you, but almost everyone I talk to in the game has done this themselves at one point. It's not that we were being anti-social, it's just that we felt we didn't need a coordinated fire team to execute that bounty. I'll answer your recent question in how I could implement matchmaking (not optional) for end-game content. First - I'll add that I'm still on the fence of whether I (personally) consider Nightfall Strikes (or PoE) end-game content. So we'll use Bungie's light level rewards as a gauge (335 end-game, 330 isn't). So nightfall strikes straddle that as 330 legendary and 335 exotics drop. End-game - Nightfall, Raid, Competitive PvP (Trials and Iron Banner), and PoE (335 gear for 42 PoE, and 35 Skolas was end-game for all of HoW). For Iron Banner, PoE, and nightfalls - I see no reason why matchmaking isn't here. There is not too much coordination going on. For raids and Trials? No way in hell am I embarking on that journey. That doesn't mean that some people who have done it are willing to give it a shot. If they get paired with the typical AFK'ers or noobs, then they'll figure out for themselves it may not be the best way - but we've cut out the middle man (LFG) as a necessity. Simply because something exists doesn't mean I want to use it - matchmaking in 41 PoE, or Heroic Strikes. I mentioned I have several consoles - I often game with my children (occasionally grandchildren). I play most with my youngest son, and the two of us would prefer if we never get a 3rd random, so we'd load my youngest daughter's guardian and just sit her in the back, sometimes tying the controller to my dog's collar and playing fetch (to keep from timing out). Why should we do that? Why couldn't there be an option to run as a 2-member team? Optional matchmaking would allow us to form our team, and then launch without worrying about who is going to join and race to the end (or the opposite, and be the typical AFK-er). Why should I deal with Bungie's lack of ability to solve the AFK issue (I know they have improved it - with getting carried to the darkness, but that only helps so much). Anyway - I've stated from the beginning, I'm an advocate of optional matchmaking, but not because I want matchmaking everywhere, but because I want the option to NOT use it - and I'm not selfish to think that everyone wants the same thing I do. It makes sense to offer players the choice. If it works, great - if it doesn't, we've lost nothing.
-
Let me rephrase: Right now - there is no matchmaking. If there was an option for matchmaking in Trials (for example), could you still opt to not use it, and form your own fireteam exactly as you could today?
-
Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves... Because right now - if you think matchmaking would cause a problem, can't you use LFG (as of right now)?

Edited by JasperGTR: 5/19/2016 7:44:12 PMWhich mission? I missed it. If you've already answered, please quote. I have a lot more than 3 consoles. And I pay for a lot more xbox accounts. None of that is relevant to the question I asked. You suggested there was something that I as a single entity wished for. I offered my solution that already exists, negating your point. I still haven't seen it - which mission? No idea of mine has changed (if so, please point out). My position is clear - optional matchmaking has no downside, no negative. Tell me which mission will negatively affect you. *edit: I have answered all of your questions. Launch with matchmaking, or launch without. What is so hard to understand?
