Instead of making an app that we can find people on, just put optional matchmaking in already!
Ok Bungie wants us to make friends and play with our friends, but makes app features to be able to find randoms to do raids, PoE & NF with. So why not put optional matchmaking in already, like it isn't going to kill the game! In fact it will take out the part of the players having to go out of the game to be able to find people to play the game with, which makes sense to me. What do you guys think? Are you for or against?
Edit: For those of you worried about matchmaking problems here are some ideas by IamJophus that would fix most of them https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/195873574?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=0 It would also add end-game content for high level raid players if they wanted it.
Edit 2: For those of you against or elitists as some would call you, I am simply asking for Optional in-game MM for the casual side of this community. Is it to much to ask for an in-game way of creating fire-teams with random people. I personal have a clan that I am apart of that I can do raids with, even with that it is still annoying to have to leave the game go to a website and ask. I just want it in-game, we should not have to use multiple apps/websites/gaming console to play one game! It's common sense!

4 RepliesI struggle getting randoms who understand the mechanics of baby Crota at the CoO. A raid would be a disaster with matchmaking. LFG, for the most part, holds people accountable and the fact people are willing to take the time to write a post shows they are serious. I guarantee if you had raid mm the success rate would be something like 1 out of every 100 matchups.

As long as it remained 100% optional no matter what, like if I had a fireteam of three and wanted to raid with that I wouldn't be forced to take three randoms, if it remained purely optional I don't see a problem.

2 RepliesShit, WarFrame is a FREE GAME that has OPTIONAL matchmaking. I don't understand why it's not in this game that people actually paid money to have in the first place. Is it difficult to implement because of the game engine or something or do they really want to have a game that people have to leave the game to find people to play with inside the game?

2 RepliesIt's taking me sooo long to find a couple people to do my sigil with because I'm only 320 light. Everyone is all like hmmm maybe I'll stick it out for a 335 while I have to sit in orbit for a hour. C'mon Bungie this is getting a bit ridiculous. Is communication that big a deal in poe. I mean half the time the randos that finally invite me don't use their mics and we get thru it with no problems. Please fix this huge inconvience.

2 RepliesThey could put a bulletin board in the tower, with filters for activities. Players who are online post a bulletin and once they go offline it auto deletes... Having it built into the app is a good step forward but there will be those few who still don't like going outside game to find players.

Giving the matchmade team very little opportunity to develop chemistry, instantly making the raid that much harder than it already would be with 2 guys with no mic, 1 guy who insists on using a shotgun for boss damage, an 8 year old, 1 guy who "watched a guide on youtube," and the poor sod who knows what he's doing. But hey, who am I to tell you how to play a game you paid for? Nobody that's who. Just remember, if Bungie does bring in optional matchmaking, don't come whining on the forums when you can't finish the raid. Edit: Do you know why people are against this? Those of us who have been raiding are watching our roster dwindle more and more, and are having to use LFG sites...which are losing population as well. If optional matchmaking were to be introduced, LFG sites would disappear, FORCING US TO USE THE MATCHMAKING which would contain groups like the ones I detailed above. There are plenty of people, like myself, who are more than happy to teach you the raid so that you can get some experience and good gear and then hop into the world of LFG. I teach the raid today so that more people will be on LFG tomorrow, benefiting the community as a whole. Optional matchmaking would take that power out of the players hands, and we would rely solely on Bungie to bring us together. Us, the community that demands game chat...then never uses it.

How about some sort of matchmaking lobby in game where people can go and look for others and instantly hop into their fireteam? Wouldn't this be the best of both worlds?

Yes and No. Yes: If you have no friends and You want to do a raid or Trails, it would be easier to do the raid. And if you are looking for a really good team for raids or flawless instead of matchmaking just go back to the old way, either Lfg or find friends on Reddit. No: People would troll. They join the raid, at the important parts, leave. Or in trails if you want to go flawless but have no one, and join a matchmaking team, get paired up with noobs who literly don't know what they are doing. Or Raids where you are doing hard mode, get teamed up with a team of light 300's, like no.

Yeah I'm trying to search for a trials team that will take me. Of course no luck. No one is going to take a noob like me. Why can't I just be randomly match with people? At least I would be able to play trials.

1 ReplyI said a year ago have a kiosk in the tower for each raid so you can inspect players in a queue and say yes let's go.. Until then can't we just say if you're at the front of the tower you want to do oryx , near the doors at the top oryx hard ect ..

Bungies answer was, "we want people to go out and reach out to the other players". It's seems that they don't like listening to gamers opinions and grieves until it don't matter no more. I know people will use it when it's released, but to me it's now a moot point. Hopefully with this new implementation, new raiders will have a chance to learn from veterans who are willing to Sherpa them. I'm starting to play less and less now and I think it's time for me to retire from being a sherpa and catch up to games that have been collecting dust. Batman series here I come.
