I see a lot of gunsmith weapons and a lot of variety every game I play.... The whole you must be an idiot thing is uncalled for.

People are always going to use things that are best fit for competitive play.. Haven't you realized this? There's always going to be a meta, and always going to be something that people are leaning too. Balance is when everything is viable, and crucible right now is the closest it's been to balanced in a while.
