Fun things Bungie removed that weren't broken

Phogoth strike Nexus strike Elemental primaries Max light level guaranteed on endgame drops 100 rep bounties Weekly heroic strikes for coins and rep Class items being cosmetic (no light) Sniper reserve ammo (PvE) Nightfall flaming head Original PvP matchmaking [Edit] for community additions! Solar wind on teammates Shooting your foot in water for "splash" damage Nightfall buff Daily public event reward Sepiks Prime strike Field scout mag bonus Hand cannon accuracy 8 orb supers Sparrow surfing And even though it was overpowered as hell, I definitely miss the Gjallarhorn... [Edit 2] I see a lot of people arguing that elemental primaries promoted less loadout variety. I disagree. I had a lot more variety in my arsenal in Year 1 than I do now, where the solution to everything is the Hung Jury. Elemental damage was never overpowered. It was only good for burns and enemy shields of the same type. Not game breaking, but it gave certain weapons a purpose. Like my old void Jewel of Osiris I never would have used otherwise with its average perks. They should never have removed that extra variable that people like to have on certain loadouts. Lets put it this way, if Bungie added a solar hand cannon, arc pulse rifle, and void scout rifle to the Challenge of Elders, do you think people wouldn't want to add them to their arsenal?

    the only primary i use now is dead orbits firefly hung jury. but in year 1 i had a whole collection of awesome elemental primaries that i would use for different situations and nightfall burns. Vision of confluence, scholar adept, fang of ur yut, messenger adept.. the only reason i used to go flawless in trials year 1 was for the elemental primary adepts.. as soon as they removed them i stopped going flawless.. the loot just isnt worth it.

  • Last I checked, strikes and elemental primaries are still in the game. Most of the rest are only questionably not broken.

    Elemental primaries create less variety, not the opposite. You say you only use hung jury, but that's you. You only used some weapons for their burn? Well, you just pointed out the problem with elemental primaries and you don't even know it: They made kinetic weapons obsolete. Elemental weapons had a purpose, and this purpose made you use them over kinetic weapons. I liked elemental primaries, but saying they gave more variety is just not true.

    • It's not that the elemental primaries were broken/op, it's that they were necessary and didn't promote gun variety. People just used their elemental primaries instead of their favorites. A firearm should become a favorite because it handles in a way that feels good, not what kinda shields it peels off. I feel like as long as elemental primaries are exotic, there's no issue, since in order for you to give up that exotic slot, it needs to be your favorite gun anyway. I would argue that they should have balanced Gjallahorn and Icebreaker sooner, since there was no way you'd get into a raid team without them when all you want to do is use hard light or bad juju. I see the same problem with the Black Spindle and Touch of Malice. ToM isn't that bad since it's just one part of one raid, but I still feel like I have to have them. I have a lot to say about the class item light level thing but I'm going to keep it to myself. This comment is long enough.

            • I miss these too. Seriously, these weren't broken! It made things fun. Now it's still just a ace to get shit. I like having things for the appearance. But now everything is "zOMG! U NO GIT GUD KED! NEED LYT LVL OF A GOD 2 JOIN US!" Or you know, similar routes. Elemental Primaries weren't broken either. So....stfu people.

              • Things I sorely miss (that aren't already on that list) - Raid Gloves that reload *all* special weapons faster - Arcblade's tracking - Auto Rifles dropping people super fast (dat 1.5x headshot damage) - Shotguns consistently killing people - Fusion Rifles consistently killing people - Ice Breaker recharging in 5 seconds - Extra super on melee kills with Feedback Fence - Mask of the Third Man having melee attack speed - Armamentarium buffing both special and heavy reserves simultaneously - The original Thorn, before it ever got touched at all. They should have just upped the poison damage and left everything else about it the hell alone. - Shadowshot generating unlimited orbs - The Vex Mythoclast being a monster in Crucible (not original pre-nerf but just after) - Etheric Light & having any legendary or exotic be viable at end game - Legendary gloves that could roll both grenade throw and melee speed on the same pair (and 2 different weapon reloads)

                    Well, they removed elemental primaries to make PvE harder and the class items got levels to make the grind harder. But yeah, I think year 1 was better.
