Gonna make this short.
Microtransactions and DLC have been the biggest hatred of Gamers since the dawn of "robbing gamers of their money by under-handed tactics" was invented.
Every few months, Bungie and Activision push closer and closer to Pay To Win, or Pay To Advantage. And every few months, the hatred for Eververse Purchasers continue to rise.
A lot of people think they are cool, and supportive because they spent 20 to 50 dollars on Sterling Treasure to get Full Taken and/or Full Spektar.
But in reality, both on the forums, and in-game, they are getting murdered socially for helping in the greed and brutality of Bungie and Activision making the game come ever more near to hand-over-fork microtransactions.
What are your thoughts, forum?

1 ReplyPeople buying silver means bungieget cash. When this happens they make small small patches to make us buy more silver. Small patches are better then none at all imo. The money from buying silver I'm pretty sure isn't going to game development but doesn't bother me at all ad long as there content 😊

"Brutality"? Opinion now invalid.
-
1 ReplyGot a full set from the free boxes. What now? Does this make you unhappy when you see me?
-
But it DOES need Chroma! Keep getting shot and shooting teammates! They need to look different.
-
Having spent over $50 this update and gotten 2 full sets of Desolate armor, I have yet to see any noticeable difference in my gameplay at all. It's not pay to win. It's not even pay for advantage. All I've gotten are more options to pick from that I WANT to pick. Also, greed? Please go back to school and learn about capitalism. Selling something in general doesn't make one greedy, especially when that money is specifically for the purpose of giving customers more things that are free. Brutality? I think you're looking for a different word. That doesn't apply here.

I've got the taken bond helm and boots on my warlock and haven't bought 1 single extra one yet. Also have spektar gauntlets chest, got the ship. It's not pay to win it's just pay to short cut. Which in my opinion why go straight to the end of something, when the journey is the most exciting part.

6 RepliesI don't care. Spend your money of you like. It doesn't affect me. But I keep shooting at teammates in taken gear
-
6 RepliesMy thoughts are that everyone can stay the -blam!- out of my business when I spend my own money that I earned by myself. Enough said?
-
I don't care about people buying gear or whatever. It's there money. But Destiny revolves around the almighty grind and giving period a way to avoid the grind just hurts the hands longevity.
-
I haven't bought silver and never will. It is for purely cosmetic stuff at this point in time and when that changes and we need to spend to keep up I will depart forever. Made the mistake once before of spending on a game to keep up. Lesson learnt.
-
They're spending their money on digital stuff they don't actually own, not to mention the fact it'll be obsolete in six months, as is Bunnies way. I don't care though. Out of my six free Sterling boxes, I got the whole set of Taken armour. Bungie will release content whether people buy silver or not, they don't want their ten year plan to fail in year two. When people stop grinding, they'll realise how much time they've spent chasing armour and an arbitrary number and start playing console games again. They don't want us to figure that out, so they'll keep the updates coming. I'm getting there, slowly, but I'm playing less and less every week.
-
So many people say it's Pay2Win. It's more like Pay2RetryBecauseImImpatientAndCantWaitForNextReset. I don't think they'll even reach Pay2Win. They'll get as close as possible but they won't touch it. Half the players will disappear overnight and Bungie will lose quite a lot of credibility (I hope that's the right word)
-
All of the content available for silver is cosmetic. I think bungee is acutely aware of how pay-to-win and freemium content have ruined other games and don't want to bring that to their game. Trust the devs on this, they want to retain players, but also have ways for players to spend more in their game. Is anyone gaining a statistical, in game advantage for having full taken gear? No, it's just another armor set with the same stat and perk rolls as any other set. But it's something cool looking that players can spend $ on if they really want to have it right away. I'm just going to keep playing this free new content silently thank the silver buyers of the world that keep funding the studio
-
depends how much content is behind paywall if there is still a large amount of content outside of cash shop its all good. but if they go the way of guild wars 2 where most of the stuff is locked behind that it will kill this game for me. to top it off bungie did do something right they give us free boxes each week for the coe reward. that is far more than other company's will do.
-
Considering that silver is funding free content for others it it helping. I would prefer actual dlc tho.

Dlc > silver

7 RepliesIf Bungie makes more money off of this tiny update then they did releasing TDB or HoW then yes, it is a problem. This means that the smarter financial and business choice for Bungie would be to continue this model of less work for more reward instead of releasing meaningful purchasable DLCs that take more work and make less money. I'd really love to see the numbers of just how much money they made off this update, because I have seen a whole lot of full taken sets in the first week, which directly equates to a whole lot of people buying sterling treasures.

7 RepliesI am in a quandary: we want content, content takes money, where is Bungie suppose to get the money if they don't: a) charge for DLCs, b) charge a monthly subscription or c) use micro transactions?
-
This poll needs the option for "meh, spend your hard earned money how you like". Dont want to spend, dont. Want to buy your set instead of slowly "earning it". Go for it buddy, play your way.
-
My problem is with the rep boosts that come in sterling treasure
-
Yes. Because I grantee with the release of destiny, micro transactions will play a bigger role. Eververse has been a successful addition in bungie's eyes and I bet anything that they will be a bigger "pay to win" in the future.

165 RepliesEdited by jareids: 4/22/2016 7:40:25 PMThe results of this pole are disgusting. I'm going to quote another guardian. Idk who posted it, but I saved it when I saw it because it made so much sense.
It's so frustrating that people justify their support of this by saying things like, "don't you have a job?" and "sucks to be broke" and "get over it, that's business". All completely missing the point. As consumers we have power over how things are priced and what's considered acceptable practice. But people like that who just shell out all their cash and give into their want to have it now are poison to the market. The future of gaming is bleak as long as people like that exist. So short sighted...disgusting.
Micros help support small/indie/new game developers because they don't have the means to do so themselves. Companies like Activision with a net worth of $18.9 billion, who already have $500 million in funds already allocated to the game do not use that to improve the game. All it does is go straight into their pockets, and it deincentivizes them to create new and improved content, when they know we'll pay out the ass for stuff like cosmetic items and rehashed content, which is cheaper to create. final section edited due to misinterpretation of my post

You don't have to pay for anything. It's a choice you have to make for yourself. Plus is there any advantages in armor you get from sterling treasure? No, there are no advantages. It's armor that starts at 3 defense. This game is not even close to "Pay to win".

they are helping bungie develop more small updates that they have already developed, and are just upping the damage. all if this last up date was already there. just moved around some enemies.
its really to purchase all the hookers and cocaine they use while reading our posts
-
My problem with Full Taken gear is that it can be hard to tell if I am shooting the AI or my teammate, haha. It is bad in PoE. Tight quarters.

1 ReplyDo people really still believe that the micro transactions are bringing free content? The "content" is just a platform to boost silver sales. Bungo keeps getting closer and closer to pay2win. It sure as hell isn't just cosmetic anymore.
