Dark Souls is amazing as well, but it feels more like retreading old ground than a groundbreaking new installment. People can say that Dark Souls has a deep story, but I don't believe it does. The Dark Souls lore, however, is mindbogglingly deep and present in all the Souls games wherever one chooses to look. To say it beats The Witcher in story, though? Come, now. The Witcher not only has a rich and branching story, but is also bolstered by an impressive lore of its own, framed in a gripping book series.

As much as I loved the witcher, dark souls 3 is rapidly becoming one of the best games I've ever played. Even if I do suck and get my ass kicked I just keep coming back for more.

I love the combat in DS3. It's unforgiving, and is as hard as you want to make it. Move sets with all the different weapons, countering the enemy move sets, it seems more engaging than any game out there that I've played in a long time.

12 RepliesNot surprised that DS is winning in the middle of the DS craze. It does alot of things very well but it is nowhere near the pinnacle of gameplay that some people claim it is. What makes the gameplay great is the enemy design, not the combat mechanics. I choose the witcher 3 overall.

12 RepliesDark Souls 3 because of its great gameplay. Story doesn't matter in video games. Read books or watch movies if you play video games for their story. I, personally, never played a game where the story was so good that the gameplay of it became unimportant.

I think asking this in the middle of the dark souls hype isn't going to give a real answer. My opinion on it though: dark souls has more responsive combat, wither 3 is bigger and better in pretty much everything else.
