first I am not biased i dont even own destiny right now.
but theres a lot of BS and hype going around and i have/do own all three TOP mmorpgs on console.
heres the truth IMO.
*Destiny is Still number one.
Graphics, Smooth aiming/shooting, player emotes actions,
and plot (yes some does exist, and its AS A HOLE better )
problem is they do a SHITTY job of telling it.
*The Division is number two.
currently playing this.*
Geaphics are worse. Aiming shooting moving all worse. CC is terrible especially for females.
Plot SEEMS good but its hollow really with no thought beyond run-of-the-mill 'theres an out-break go save people and stuff'
all together a unique and fun game but i don't see it reaching the levels destiny has.
* ESO (elder scrolls online) is third.
Best graphics, best CC, best plot, ok/good fighting mechanics. (incomparable really melee works very different)
problem is its slow and repetitive nothing is quick and easy, very earlly on it start to feel like a chore or work rather then a game.
IMO
the reason destiny is dyeing regardless of this is because (for me) the lack of respect and arrogance that comes from the destiny team currently.
in a nut shell i feel they have a "its our world we do what we want" attitude.
add that to missing content false promises no content making everything year one useless(un-infusable)
and you pretty much got the shit show it is now.
i hope it comes back.
but who knows. The division is pretty good and only a couple DLCs away from taking first place.

1 ReplyDestiny isn't exactly an MMORPG. It sort of is. But not really.
-
I feel like no game competes with the smoothness of destiny's gunplay. Especially not the division. But that is my opinion, and I haven't played too many others, besides cod, halo, etc.
-
1 ReplyYou completely forgot FF14. Which fares best out of all of them. Massively do. It shits all over Destiny, ESO and The Division in terms of content, variety and size/scale
-
Fact is, Destiny and Division are the only two games that inhibit the same spot in consoles right now: shared-world shooter/RPG hybrid with loot-based progression system. If one only has time to play one of them, of course people would choose the new one opposed to the one that hasn't had new content for months.

Edited by DarthUriah84: 3/17/2016 6:59:01 PMDestiny is in no way a MMORPG. It's just a online multiplayer FPS.
-
FFXIV is the best on console. ESO is pretty much the only contender to it, and Destiny and Division aren't MMORPGs
-
2 Replies
i feel they have a "its our world we do what we want" attitude.
Probably because it's their world, & they can do what they want with it.
-
Destiny only has certain elements of an RPG, but it remains a shooter. It is an MMO though, just an MMO. ESO is the only MMORPG on your list, you should give FFXIV a shot. Now that is another MMORPG.
-
1 ReplyESO is the only mmorpg on your list. You failed. FFX|V also shits all over ESO.
-
3 RepliesGraphics are worse??? What I would give to see those weather effects included into Destiny 2. Running around in that snow in the Cosmodrome, YES please!
-
3 RepliesFfxiv is by far the best mmo on the console. Sorry xbox, but I heard that it may be coming to you guys soon. Destiny is an open world shooter with some rpg and mmo elements. The division is an rpg, not really a mmo. Eso is garbage.
-
You reading this bungo???? Nerf fusion rifles or your game is done for!
-
Both games have shit stories Both games have very repetitive and boring story missions Both games end game is awesome and enjoy the grind for gear. I for one am glad a game has taken me off of destiny for over a week so when they release something new in spring it will feel new

1 ReplyYou forget FF14. Funny.
-
2 RepliesThe division's graphics are worse than destiny's? We may have gotten 2 different versions of the game. Destiny is nice, but since it partially shares graphics with old gen it is held back. Destiny 2? Yeah probably alot better. Lighting and water reflection in the division have sold me.
-
4 RepliesNeither are massive online games but thanks for the rant.

Edited by MidknightRooster: 3/17/2016 7:18:21 AMFor me Final Fantasy 14 is still number one. then destiny. ( if Destiny could pump out new content a little faster I probably switch it up) I'd probably put Elder Scrolls 3rd I could never get into Tom Clancy games.
-
6 RepliesI don't know why but every time I read MMO I imagine Masive Multiplayer Orgy

What about FF X|V and Warframe- which btw does a great job for being an intentional grind game. The reason everyone's upset with Destiny is because no one really understands what it is and thats because it's trying to be too many things at once. Going back to why Warframe is successful is because it's a game that evovles around grinding and that's what the delevopers focus on; making the grind more intense and rewarding. FF X|V on the other hand is just amazing you should try it. Oh and btw Destiny doesn't consider itself an MMO. "Then WTF is it then!!!", is what I always used to say lol- which brings up my previous point: "trying to be too many things at once"
-
1 Replythe only mmorpg listed is ESO... Destiny is a shooter, not really an RPG, regardless how much Bungie tried to pretend it was. The Division is an RPG but I wouldn't call it an MMO. Destiny is more of a MMO than the Division and I'd hardly consider Destiny an MMO. The only place where you will see multiple players roaming around (not in your party) is the Dark Zone.
-
Why do people think destiny is an rpg? There isn't enough depth in the game for it to be considered one.
-
Edited by D34N0000: 3/16/2016 9:06:24 PMBest mmo rpg games for me are. diablo 3, warframe and the division. Not in particular order. Destiny is very popular sure but I think that's the face it's a solid shooter. The mmo rpg elements are as basic and watered down as I've seen in one lol. But I guess people look for different things on games. Which is fair enough obviously.

Nah, Division is 1, Destiny 2 by the skin of its teeth. It seems like the devs looked long and hard at the missed opportunities that bungie left wide open in their game and improved upon it. Destiny is my favourite because of the amount of solid gaming friends I made out of it but there is way more content in the division.
-
15 RepliesHa! Destiny is not an MMO. I wouldn't even call the Division an MMO, but that's debatable. The only true MMO on consoles IS ESO, which is still pretty enjoyable. It's nice to have a big game like that on consoles, considering I don't like PC.
