Just watched a vanilla legendary special weapon engram drop for a teammate in PoE
This was posted to my thread, and its the best proof that vanilla Engrams can drop, but do indeed turn into HoW gear...
"You got my attention with this post.I read it yesterday and started farming PoE.My last game finally dropped a "vanilla" engram,but sadly it decrypted into Fear Eater from HoW.I included a screenshot,the engram has the vanilla flavor text but sadly I wasn't able to get my hands on some sweet vanilla gear..."

So it is definitely possible, I messaged him, but he is very young, and could only tell me it was a sniper rifle...
He hasn't equipped it yet, but ill watch his gt to try to find out what it decripted into...
if you don't care, gg, I have been trying to find proof it can happen for a long time, lol...

I am talking about legendary weapon Engrams that drop at the activity reward screen after PoE or legacy strikes
To help identify vanilla blue or purple Engrams it will have this flavor text:
"The Cryptarch in the Tower may be able to decrypt this object and reveal it's contents."
The kid still hasn't equipped it, and don't want to harass a child so, I will check his profile a few more times today, and give up...
To all my fellow relic hunters, it is def possible to get vanilla weapons and armor from activity reward screens of legacy strikes and PoE...Good luck
It has been brought to my attention that someone has had this happen, and it turned into a HoW weapon...
I cannot confirm anything about what it turned into, I know it has the vanilla flavor text, and I know it dropped today in activity reward screen after a level 28 PoE...
Even Planet Destiny says its possible to get vanilla gear, but impossibly rare...and only from activity reward screen...
If you find a legendary that drops in game, with the vanilla flavor text it will not turn into a vanilla item...
I have personally gotten vanilla armor, from vanilla blue engram turning into it...[/spoiler]

74 RepliesMakes me cringe how many people don't know what vanilla Destiny is... We're talking about Shadow Prices, Super Pox Vlo's, Zombie Apocalypses! Do not come here with your Benevolences, Dry Rots, High Road Soldiers... those are HoW weapons! Just like Saterienne Rapier is TDB, not vanilla.

I know TTK won't be in it, but does anyone know if the autoupdate would include the expansions that can't be bought separately anymore? Might be a way to get older stuff, if it doesn't. Edit: should be possible according to Robster4443 who has vanilla game on the 360.

3 RepliesI run Destiny on my 360 and it doesn't have TTK on it ... you get some old school drops on it. Then I go to my Xbone with TTK and play crucible and people are like "what is that??" Got a xerxes-e that is fun to use.
