Bungie should change that stats from k/d to wins and zones captured.
People post about their k/d is misleading and tainted.
Here is a simple argument... is it more important to win the match or protect your k/d stats?
How many time you see players don't cap zones nor pick up the sparks etc. Those are the same people is protecting their k/d stats.
Let's make it simple would you sacrifice to win for the team??? Would you die so your spark runner can light them up? Would you hold the zone so your team can have an advantage???
Here is the truth the question is can you handle the truth???

Is this a good thing to do? you just gave the enemy team 3k easy points which could easily be the game. What would i do? im a smart players, do i care about K/D mmm not really but i enjoy going good in games and its annoying when i go negative... Id wait back from the zone pick off any people doing the same maybe they are sniping this will let my team push through without being killed then only rush the zone when im not on my own or when its clear. Now, Does K/D matter? well not on its own but Its the perfect indicator which will tell if you if person is a good player and someone who has map awareness and thinks before they act. You have a 0.84 K/D (on your Warlock it looks like your main PvP account) so i can tell you are horrible at PvP but lets take a closer look at your stats. Kills per game - 8.45 Win loss ratio - 0.62 Average score per game - 2418 Combat rating - 82.4 Orbs dropped per game - 1.6 (thats very low) Now lets look at someone who has a good K/D (not trying to blow my own horn its just easier to use myself rather then finding someone else) My Hunter: K/D - 1.67 Kills per game - 15.85 Win loss ratio - 1.38 Average score per game - 6138 Combat rating - 138.91 Orbs dropped per game - 3.87 So what have i shown here? Well for starters Control is a clash game with kill modifiers ( 2 zones gets you more points per kill) it is not an objective game type, you do not need the objectives to win the game. So running in and killing yourself giving the other team free points is a plain stupid thing to do, if this is how you play you are hindering your team rather then helping them.
How many time you see players don't cap zones nor pick up the sparks etc. Those are the same people is protecting their k/d stats.
Rift, i really enjoyed iron banner rift BUT i hardly scored... Why is that you ask? well thats because retarded people like yourself who have horrible K/Ds cant protect the runner for shit, thats where i come in... in a number of game i had 30 - 40 kills and almost top scored without scoring because i was protecting scrubs who think the only thing that matters is to grab the spark and run even if they are alone.
Here is the truth the question is can you handle the truth???
The truth is you made this post because people or someone has seen your K/D and how bad it is and said geez man you suck but the thing is you think that running into control zones and dying as long as you are trying is helping the team which couldnt be more wrong. If you have a good K/D it means you have good map awareness, if you have good map awareness it means you see things going on when other players who are no good wont be abel to see them, you will know that when your team pushes an area and tries to capture a 3rd zone (Scrubs think this is a good idea) that the spawns will swap and the enemy will now come from behind, if you have a good K/D it means you know the strengths and weaknesses of the weapons you use and the areas in the map where you will be the strongest. Map awareness... doing things without thinking while still being aware of what the enemy team is going to do - https://account.xbox.com/en-us/gameclip/dd4845a7-a7d3-4eda-9c01-b9574c7edc8c?gamerTag=bilbo%20t%20baginzz&scid=37770100-f9ae-4b80-9dad-7c1d0ec14469 Perfect example of idiots with the spark who just run ahead: https://account.xbox.com/en-us/gameclip/275da5b6-13c5-4898-8e8e-5dece1314473?gamerTag=bilbo%20t%20baginzz&scid=37770100-f9ae-4b80-9dad-7c1d0ec14469 Here is why i dont pick up the spark... because i was the one clearing the path: https://account.xbox.com/en-us/gameclip/9a50cfab-4a9f-43ae-a646-8c2c28477af1?gamerTag=bilbo%20t%20baginzz&scid=37770100-f9ae-4b80-9dad-7c1d0ec14469 TL;DR If someone has a good K/D they are a good player. 3 RepliesGOOD EXAMPLE Below is a poster named Vex Mythoclast. His warlock is new and likely just reset to get better KD. Now if you click crucible you can see his stats. He has a high top game kill and his rating is also good. Next you check his weapon. Make sure he is earning his numbers not camping. Then click history. A lot of people are so sad they actually quit games to manipulate this number. It is very important to these people but they leave a stinky trail. Vex checks out. He has wins and losses and all is marked so he stayed in his games. He is a very good player and sees games through =)

It's all about that PvE KD tho. You need to wag your E-peen in front of them to show your assertiveness.
-
I see both sides of argument. I'm a k/d guy on all games I play(COD, gow, battlefield) and this is the only game I can't get a total kd above 1. Not sure if mechanics of game or what. But I do think skill is shown in a kd. But also can say that in objective games if you have numerous players just sitting back and sniping or scoutin' and not doing said objectives it does make it harder for others doing objectives to maintain a high kd. When it's 3 defenders on 1 attacker as an example.

8 RepliesAre you -blam!-ed? Who's more likely to win? The player that gets 1 kill and 20 deaths = 1900 free points to enemy. Of the player the at gets 20 kills 1 death = 1900 points to the team. Who's more likely to successfully defend and protect a zone? The player that gets 10 kills while defending? Or the player that gets 0 kills while defending Who's more likely to ignite a rift? The player who can easily kill 5 players in a row while pushing the spark? Or the player who's lucky to get 1 kill while pushing the spark? Muted.

1 ReplyEdited by Daddy Chill (Adept): 2/25/2016 2:12:45 AMLet's change it to "rumble wins" to determine how good a player is Edit: looks like this guy has 58 rumble wins, let's not take him into trials

Edited by grey: 2/25/2016 2:09:55 AMI'm top 4% in Zones Captured and top 5% in Zones Neutralized last I checked. Might've changed, idk haha

You're probably ugly
-
In games like CSGO k/d means nothing, because playing the objective means winning and winning is everything.
-
1 ReplyThat's something assbags say. Kind of like how ugly women say "real beauty is on the inside."
-
.58 trials KD Sure little guy, PVP KD means nothing lol
-
Should be points. But if you look at rating and highest kills in a game it helps. KD is a manipulated number lol
-
lol "tainted"

I see where you're going with this, we should indeed have a "points per life" stat in addition to K/D. Also, K/D doesn't mean much anymore like it used to. It used to provide a relatively good idea of where you are at IN THE PLAYERBASE. Now with skill-based matchmaking, it provides an idea of where you are at IN YOUR SPECIFIC BRACKET. Now a 1.0 K/D doesn't mean much. It could mean you're a top player, but it could also mean you're a lower skilled player. The whole premises of SBMM is to put everyone at a 1.0
-
What is next? Money is not important? Lol. Why not we talk about effects and impacts of last dude having 0.5kd? All other 5 members have to kill faster and harder to close up the gap. I do prefer positive kd plus getting the objectives. That is win win.

1 ReplyThis post sucks eggs.

The truth is that the vast majority of people are playing the objective in situations where it shouldnt be played, such as going for third flag and flipping the spawns etc, resulting in a lot of team deaths and usually also the loss of two flags. There's a strong correlation between that behaviour and a weak k/d. On the other end we have people who take the required flags and then defend them. This way you'll control the spawns and know where the enemies are coming from, resulting in an advantage and usually also a higher k/d.

1 ReplyNegative is below 0 so 0.9 is a positive kd

When somebody like you with a 0.92 KD after 26 days of game time says something like this, nobody's going to take you seriously. That's like someone with a small penis saying penis size shouldn't matter
-
It means absolutely nothing? You sure about that?

Edited by Sycoa: 2/24/2016 10:58:52 PMReads OP, figures ok prolly not very good at the game... Looks at medal score, thinks well now maybe he is good. Checks k/d on all characters in control and trials. Yeah thought so. No offence, but k/d does mean a lot in a game where all you do is kill and die. Capturing zones is great and dandy, thank you, but for every match you had 10 captures and 0.8 k/d and you won, garunteed there were 2+ people that capped one or two and spent the match actually benefitting from having two zones controlled....by getting as many kills as they could and dying as little as they could If you like just capturing zones they made that boring zone control playlist
-
Me I just want to get kills
-
Except that k/d most of the time mind you shows that that player is generally better then the average player

You people need to play solo in IB. Instead of fireteam of your friends or clan mates. Let's face it... Can you go in to a game in progress already and turn it around? I have joined IB games last night 80% of them are in progress because players left. I would rather go in solo because I want to play with guys that are short handed. Can you do that?
