5 RepliesNo. I see a lot of people saying how we don't need automatic weapons and shotguns, just pistols and rifles. The point of the second amendment wasn't to protect us from home invaders, it was from the government and military. How are we supposed to defend ourselves against the government with hunting rifles and pistols?

9 RepliesThe issue isn't how bad guns are, it's ONLY how easy they are to get. In Chicago, gang bangers can drive 90 minutes out of Illinois to a gun show in Indiana and get guns with no background checks. That's the only thing that needs addressing

Bring your sources and show me the numbers) I think a hunting rifle may be an exception but no weapons that can fire: Faster than 1 projectile per 5 seconds (EDIT: This is in particular referring to automatic weapons. Also, 5 seconds is more reasonable in hindsight) DU rounds (obviously) Multiple projectiles at one time (EDIT: Yes, I know some hunting requires this. No, I don't care. If this can't happen then at least strict regulation) Extremely large rounds (EDIT: This should be allowed but with intense checks) Furthermore I would say they should be modified to do as little damage to humans as possible whilst still doing damage to hunted animals. If a gun could wound someone then it's good for self defence and hunting. (EDIT: Yes, a projectile going at 500mph is going to damage no matter what, I do understand physics) (EDIT) And one last thing: I personally believe that non lethal weapons should be given to people or at least discounted for home defence. I personally wouldn't like to live knowing that I killed someone but if I can immobilise them long enough to disarm them and call the police then this is a preferable option. No. You should be, though. But in all seriousness, a gun ban wouldn't stop much. Sure, maybe kids getting a hold of legal guns, but there are plenty of illegally acquired guns in circulation. It's like drugs. If someone really wants it, they'll get it. Illegal or not.

You know they say that healthcare is a right and everyone should be given or required to have healthcare aka obamacare despite healthcare not being a specific right under the bill of rights. If thats true and rights are a must have for every American why aren't we all issued firearms from the government and penalized if we dont own one? Just some food for thought.
