Contrary to what everyone thinks, snipers are not the biggest issue in PvP. Yes they have high amounts of aim assist and people are pulling off snipes that are kind of ridiculous. But read below.
The gun that is causing this "imbalance" in crucible is The Last Word. Let me tell you why.
- Auto rifles cannot function the way they are intended. Every auto rifle is outgunned by TLW. And because everyone uses TLW, auto rifles will always be outgunned.
- TLW is better than any hand cannon in the game. The accuracy and range of hand cannons is still not where it needs to be. This forces a hand cannon user to stay more close quarters, and at that point, TLW can easily beat a hand cannon user. This makes hand cannons obsolete.
- There are a lot of snipers out there using TLW. Why? Because TLW can be used practically as a shotgun as well as be effective in close to medium range engagements. Nothing can beat it.
- Think of this game without TLW. Would it work? Would more people use auto rifles and hand cannons? What about fusion rifles? The game would change dramatically if they nerfed TLW and you will see much more weapon diversity. TRUST ME.
By the way. This Valentine's Day doubles playlist will be messed up. Thorn will be everywhere. I'm calling it now.
Edit: Some people have called me out as a complainer and to stop asking for nerfs. I just want to say that the problem with TLW is much more apparent at higher ranks because there are much more people who know how to use it. People with lower skill will see much more weapon diversity and can actually use their hard light or whatever other weapon they want because the chances of facing someone who knows how to use TLW properly is much lower. Every trials match or skirmish match I play is against people who use 1kstare and TLW. They lay back and snipe. And as soon as you get close to them your fked. I can do the same as them, but is this in any way fun?

8 RepliesAddressing auto rifles: Doctrine of passing has better range and ttk than tlw... Addressing handcannon balance: thorn and tlw sit right about where they need to in terms of range effectiveness against other weapon classes. Anything remotely mid ranged and beyond will go to pulse/scout users who know what they're doing (intentionally left hawkmoon out since nerfs have made eyasluna virtually as effective as it, except eyasluna has better range). Addressing your salty attitude: Tlw has been rebalanced. It sits where it was meant to sit...close to mid it can end anyone rushing you (if you use it as intended: hip firing and accounting for kick), but further away you will lose to a skilled guardian using virtually any other weapon (I'm sure enough people can relate to mida use on that point). Final point: Stop begging for weapons to be nerfed into non-functional states. Tlw is meant to be amazing in 1v1 close to mid range fights. If two or more guardians push together or use any other plethora of counters, tlw user will typically lose the fight.

TLW & MIDA

6 RepliesPeople still cry over the last word even after it has been nerf to shit. Amazing.
-
You make t seem like a god weapon where if you equip it you'll never lose and engagement whatsoever no matter the situation.
-
1 ReplyI would just use a doctrine if they took out last word lol almost the same ttk
-
1 ReplyThe exotic hand cannon keeps weapons like shotguns, auto rifles and even fast firing pulse rifles in check. It serves a purpose granted I don't agree with how Bungie went about balancing CQB weapons but it works. Just have to cope with it homie. Besides. The division comes out in about a month who the -blam!- cares about destiny.

4 RepliesA great observation, lately I've been thinking that a few weapons should be moved from the primary slot to the special slot, and yes I'm looking at those exotic hand cannons
-
Agree last word only really shines using it as a support weapon as you would a side arm and using your secondary as a primary. Sorry if Dunt make sense I no what I mean. Easy way would be to make it secondary wepon and then noland beyond becomes viable
-
I've had great success lately with universal remote and any sniper. Really works with the meta right now. If your at least a combatant sniper I recommend it.

Doctrine of Passing and Haakon's Hatchet tend to do well against TLW. Most of the problem arises when people confront someone 1v1. TLW excels in 1v1 engagements in my opinion. The magazine size and reload speed are very lackluster.

This truly is the problem

You haven't even played Destiny...
-
I can't remember the last time I was killed with TLW. You're whiny and delusional.
-
There is nothing wrong with the last word . If you don't want to be killed by it stop rushing people with your shotgun .
-
3 RepliesTell that to my Nechrochasm
-
It needs to have VERY short range and an extremely noticeable dropoff
-
3 RepliesMida and doctrine both outgun tlw. Shut up

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

5 RepliesThe Last Word has always been OP. Back when Thorn ran the show it was the only other gun that could compete
-
Best auto? Kvovstovh
-
3 RepliesMida outguns tlw all the time. I hardly ever get killed by tlw because everybody uses mida.
Contrary to what everyone thinks, snipers are not the biggest issue in PvP. Yes they have high amounts of aim assist and people are pulling off snipes that are kind of ridiculous
you dont understand aim assist. I agree with everything else

1 ReplyYea if tlw was nerfed to oblivion, in this current meta everyone would switch to mida. But you do have a point. I run tlw when sniping bc it's basically a shotgun lol.
