It's useless. After one or maybe two months into TTK, the light level of the exotics sold by Xur should at least be 290 light. After 2 - 4 months those exotics sold should be 300 light. After that 310 and after that 320. And after that the new highest light level will probably be a lot higher.
Pretty much every casual is now at least 295 light with their main character and the most hardcore players are between 310 and 320 light. So why not let exotics sold by Xur move up as well?
I know when TTK launched 280 light was pretty high. And exotic engrams that would decrypt at 290 light? Pew! That's good! But that was 4 months ago....
At least let him sell exotics at 300 light. Maybe even 310.
EDIT: Apparently people like to grind. I didn't see that one coming. Good job, Bungie!

Why do exotics drop at 310 when your 319? Grind baby grind
-
1 ReplyThe only problem with that is infusion. If they started selling at 310 or 320, people could just buy them and use it to infuse their gear up to 310/320.
-
Cause we need to grind moar!!! Actually I don't mind it. Buying things at 310-320 is giving it away with no purpose of building that armor up
-
1 ReplyBecause Xur is lame and is only useful for heavy ammo
-
Remember when you people wanted xur to sell weapons with a different skin? That is essentially this. The reward is that his items give RNG the finger, the trade off is you have to infuse. If you can not accept this maybe you should grind it out and not complain. I personally never but shit from him, minus 3 of coins. What we should be mad about is that there are no longer exotic shards for sale and that legacy engrams costs so damn much.
-
Cus I suck tree.
-
He should sell at 300 light but not anything more. You should earn them to drop at 310. If you are 315 they should drop at 315+. but not bought to easy everyone would just save coins and buy all their exotics
-
2 RepliesExotics bought from xur should increase in light level in accordance to your light level...like ones from engrams do.

3 RepliesEdited by TheAmishrobot: 11/19/2019 3:25:26 AMYeah, I want to play a game, I don't want to run around in circles grinding. Grinding takes away the point of playing game.

Bungie only likes crybabies and whiners. They only nerf things not give the players what they want.

But in Bungie's hands it was a mistake and again. They screwed that up to... There shouldn't have ever been 20 different light levels to each weapon and gear pice in this game. Expecially since they removed element's

Well it just hit me and so far is not a bad idea. How about this.... Instead of Xur selling a higher light level equipment why not sell them in engrams form?... Sounds well balance to me. •310+ players get their high level 310 gears/weapons. •300-305+ players get theirs at 300-305 gears/ weapons. •280-295+ players get theirs at 280-296 gears/ weapons. Sounds like a win/win to me. We all are happy with the drops and we all don't have to worry about noobs getting high light level from starting to play destiny.

2 RepliesSelling 280 gear would be ok if infusion was 1:1. But grinding your ass off for a 304 hand gun to infuse it just ain't gonna cut it.
-
They do it because new players should not get a 300+ handout. Xur exists to allow you to get gear you can not get to drop. The price is a handful of coins and a lot of infusion. Thats why if you are smart you only buy three of coins. Same for the nightfall until they man up and put out a 310+ light version for the players who want better drops.
-
Well if they buff the attack then that will break Xur... Plain and simple. Come one now put him in the reef and he locks the door and that only took the inclusion of TTK DLC.
-
Xurs not supposed to move with time or with you, he is for players trying to get up to 280/300
-
Get to 311 light lvl and open y exotic engram ull surely get 310 exotic
-
2 RepliesWhile I would love to see the light level increase on those exotics, they stay at 280 to increase the grind. If Xur offers something that a player doesn't have yet, they can buy it, but spend an assload of marks, material, weapon/armor parts, exotic shards, etc to infuse it. To get all of those materials, they have to grind. They spend them all on infusion, then have to farm for all of that stuff again...
-
3 RepliesI disagree with the grinders below. Being a beta player and struggling to still like this game after so long (but I still do) I think all exotics should be 310.
-
2 RepliesEdited by Walrus Walter: 1/17/2016 1:57:13 PMDo you not realize the imprecation of your proposal? You're basically saying: "Hey noobies, here's some gear at the end game light level. Take it and negate the feeling of progression."
-
Just use 3oc
-
2 RepliesI disagree with this. Xur is not there for players who have been around forever. He's perfect for the newer players or ones who get boned by this games awful RNG.
-
4 RepliesStop complaining.

1 ReplyAll these people that disagree with you are either a) new to the game or b) lack a scruple of memory containing the frigid notion of resets. Everybody wants to feel special. Let them stay on the beach when the bungie tsunami comes crashing down on all their progress. Then, if they survive, they'll seek your knowledge. That is until new settlers arrive. Those that survived the tsunami will then be preaching to those without memory...the same way you are now. Cyclical heartbreak. *tear*

To finish collections 3 of coins and quests are the primary source. All to increase grind
