Whatever Luke Smith was smoking, he made a stupid decision to not allow us to use elemental primaries.
Do you want us to get aggrivate and have to use two or three clips to take down one wizard. Sorry but I'd rather use a void primary that would take less time to take it down then using a kinetic damage weapon.
"Oh we want people to have more options for their load out"
Well sometimes, when your dealing with ten void enemies in the special Dark Blade strike or the special Shield Brother strike you really would rather have a void primary or a solar primary.
It's kinda dump how they took this approach now. They definetly wanted the gameplay to last longer that's for sure! I hope someone else in charge of Destiny 2 focuses on bringing back elemental primaries again cause it's tedious to have to use 3 clips to take down a knight with a void shield or a wizard with a yellow health bat and solar that takes ages with kinetic
Just have Luke Smith focus on raids. Don't let him ruin the elemental primaries and let them come back please!
Sorry about the "Luke Smith was smoking something" comment, but sometimes the decisions they do are poorly conceptualized
dont be sorry.

I use my Susanoo. Just change class to whatever elemental shield I need to take down and damage something with that classes abilities and my fusion rifle does that damage.
-
Completely disagree (respectfully). They made the game way to easy and you end up only using those weapons instead of the great variety we have now. I mean think about year 1. Everyone always used the exact same weapons all the time.
-
Prior to TTK, I would raid so I could get elemental primaries to help me through the weekly nightfall. The raid was worth it to get those primaries so you could get through the nightfall easier. The nightfalls also offered very solid rewards. I played every week. Now... no elemental primaries and the nightfall is garbage. Haven't played in a month.

I somewhat agree, I mean look at The Great Nike's post about the Nightfall being Rockets McDickFace. The entire thing people talking about Gally, Icebreaker and VoC because of Solar Burn. Like for God's sake what more do we have to do get out elementals back?
-
I just hate that most of the raid weapons are very lackluster.

Alpha player here. I thought I would miss elemental primaries. But I don't. I find that I use special and heavy more often and I enjoy the options that opened up when no longer using element primaries.
it's just a crutch...
Edited by Kwrky: 12/29/2015 8:43:51 PMMost memorable weapons in the game for me were the VoG drops. Everyone loved them. I really don't understand why they didn't just continue down that path. If they wanted to add progression they could have added bane weapons to force an upgrade path in each expansion.

Just gonna quote what I said on a related post.
Here's some mind blowing information that even the devs can't understand. When you have a game that has weapon variety i.e. perks, elemental dmg, arcehtypes, etc you are ALWAYS, let me repeat myself, ALWAYS going to have superior loadouts. When you try to remove that from happening, you are destroying it's natural balance. Second thing I'd like to add, YOU chose your own weapon loadouts. I had FB, VoC, BH, Ghorn, the whole nine. I chose when to change up my loadouts when I got bored. Sometimes I would run without elemental primaries and not use a typical set up. No one held a gun to my head and forced me to use specific weapon loadouts. I find myself running the same pve guns without changing them up even MORE now. Because without elemental dmg being available on primaries, I want to make sure I'm still getting the most dps out as possible. Which means I'm running my Jury 99% of the time. I didn't even use elemental primaries as much as I use my damn Jury now. The fact that one primary still has elemental dmg makes absolutely no sense what so ever. Especially since it's a subpar primary. To me anyways. I have yet to hear a good and logical defense on why removing elemental primaries from the game was a good idea. Keep in mind that the only time they were the most useful was during NF's with elemental burns. Would it have been so hard to just remove elemental burns as a whole from NF's ? I don't get it. More than anything, I don't get why the community backs that logic.
Edited by Moon-Eye_Maddox: 12/29/2015 8:22:02 PMStrainedDig4 said it best:
Some believe having elemental primaries diluted the users desire to use non elemental weapons. That's true. So they removed them. Their choice. At this point in time, adding elemental primaries will not cause anyone who has left to return, nor will it stop folk from leaving. Content is lacking. Guns are being nerf's every day. Players are already upset. Grinding is old and no longer interesting, especially when a nerf is the norm and nothing is sacred. The dedication players demonstrated in year one is gone, and is not projected to return. They can put any weapon into the game, but they cannot return that initial excitement which caused thousands of us to stay up all night grinding for a Vex, for example! That has been destroyed. Its unfortunate, but true. No-one wants to work when your reward is only going to be revoked/reforged/repurposed/nerf'd. It's hard enough to get the weapon, level it, then get good with it, only to wake up and find it has been destroyed. Changed into a weapon you would never have worked for. I experienced that after having a vault full of year one weapons I had spent thousands of hours grinding for, then their percs were gone! Changed from weapons I had spend >2000 motes reforging into what I wanted, and turned into exactly what I had rejected countless times during reforge. That will never happen again! I guarantee that! Elemental primaries, I still have my Vex Mythoclast. All the others I have destroyed, and discarded their remains in tribute to their memory. One day I will delete the Vex, then the game. It was a weapon, like all other elemental primaries, that had meaning, and stood for the defeat of Atheon in the Hard VOG. A raid which taught that rewards were not guaranteed, but when you got them, they were definitely worth the pain. They were the best weapons in the game. Can anyone say that about the current raid rewards now? I haven't even bothered to complete the TTK raid. I have lost all interest in it, for its rewards aren't worthy of my time and ammo! I return and do the VOG and Crota and remember, I still have that same excitement when the raid weapon drops, then I awaken and realize, it is lost, it was only a memory of times past... New guns mean nothing to me now. I get them, use them and discard them like candy. They are worthless. They artificially prolong the game, some call that difficulty, and waste precious ammo. In a war to save the Universe and Humanity, they are an insult. Anyone thinking that weakened guns make a game more difficult, is already lost... A challenge is having to think and strategize. A challenge isn't spending 200 rounds on a target you spent 50 on yesterday! That’s not a challenge, its a waste of ammo and time... It's a testament to the failure of the design team to create excitement, its cheap programming... It's what has been lost, somehow between POE and TTK. It's as if the Creativity team at Bungie were Taken! Sorry about the rant...
I agree, couple clips to get the shield down and then they hide and the shield is back. Very annoying. Primaries in year 2 are lackluster boring dull weapons.
-
It was fun using VOC soloing the nightfall this morning. I miss elemental primaries!
-
2 RepliesI honestly think a better solution would have been to make everything kinetic like they did, but make a consumable that makes that weapon into an elemental of your choice. People would go crazy hunting these down. And you would have insane variety! Every one remembers the excitement of what to evolve evee into.
-
8 RepliesThis is what happens when elitists bitch and moan about everything. Want everything to be balanced and what do you get, a boring game that eventually everyone will leave and then the elitists complain that they have no one to play with. Happens all.the.time.
-
The only reason it's not gonna happen is because the idiots who still play this game think it shouldn't happen. It's sad, really.
-
"Well sometimes, when your dealing with ten void enemies in the special Dark Blade strike or the special Shield Brother strike you really would rather have a void primary or a solar primary. " well that's when you use a fusion rifle. don't need to get close to do damage with shotty/sidearm can use on the go unlike snipers enemies are fat nuff to hit easily
-
10 RepliesAdd an elemental core that you can buy from Xur for about 30-50 coins. There's a different core each week and they can be applied to legendaries and exotics. They can also change the burn on any weapon, except secondary and heavy exotics
-
So many uninformed posts. It hurts.
-
Just because there were elemental primaries didn't mean you couldn't use something else. You could have used anything you wanted but you used them cause you wanted to get done fast so you could move on to something else you wanted to play. I did nightfalls to get gear not cause I liked doing them. I played the raids and did pvp for fun. The argument of giving people more options is invalid at its start.
-
Edited by Carbonatorix: 12/29/2015 8:11:01 PMI think if only the exotic primaries had elemental damage that would be best. It limits our options and makes us gives up load out choices to use the elemental damage.
-
I can't say this enough, not gunna happen.
-
1 ReplyIkr basically makes the raid weapons useless. They all have ridiculous recoil and once you get ToM and BS cocoon becomes irrelevant.
-
The easiest solution would be to give all weapons a burn type. Then people would still have a variety of weapons being used. IDK It really hasn't been much of an issue. between specials, heavies, and abilities you can handle everything pretty easily.
-
8 RepliesDo you want a challenge or to just walk your way through night falls and heroics. Just get better special or heavy weapons. Know which strikes have what shields and equip around that. I'm glad they took elemental off. Ultras were too easy with burns on
-
You seem to have forgotten about this, so I'll remind you.
You still have Special and Heavy weapons.
