Edited by Wolfe: 11/27/2015 7:02:04 AMNo because no matter how you blame religion it has not officially done anything to anyone. The greed of man is to blame. Religion is just a scapegoat, for the time it happened and for ignorant people today blaming religion for the worlds problems (looking at you atheists who keep bringing up the crusades) .
-
nah, we would still find a way to -blam!- it up
-
If you knew the truth should it affect how you live your life?... should it? I think we should just give our best regardless. ;) thats the secret

No such thing will exist with or without religion. Control and establishing power over something happens all over in nature. Even trees battle each other over time. You'll notice a healthier tree will begin to extend into a neighboring tree to block out sunlight to the weaker one. War is simply a product of nature and even though we are intelligent we cannot bypass nature and its process to facilitate itself.

25 RepliesHow can grown up people believe in a religion anyway, when there are always many more people that believe in a total different God or gods!? That doesn't make any sense to me at all!! I think religion or better the churches that control it have not been for the better of mankind!! I don't have a god nor do I need one. I'm a respectful person that is very much interested in the well being of the people around me. Morals are NOT an invention of religion! The goal in life is to make the right choices!! All you have to know about this is Immanuel Kant, not the bible, Koran, tora...

Edited by The Fallen Zyzz: 11/27/2015 4:30:42 AMSo long as the state is secular, that's fine enough for me. Although, realistically, a utopia is virtually impossible to achieve without brainwashing. A lack of religion isn't going to create a utopia.

3 RepliesAtheism is a severe mental disorder...
-
Without religion or a government mandated religion Also utopia=impossible without brainwashing people and that process of brainwashing makes it a dystopia so... Yeah
-
While I think the world would be a much better place without religion, I think people would still find stupid shit to fight over. That said...this should be in off topic

Edited by Nixie: 11/27/2015 4:11:57 AMWell, I choose to ignore religion. How do you know what you see truly exists. You perceive it as real, but you never know it is real. I choose to disregard these thoughts and live for fun. By focusing on these ideas, you make it so you are under stress. Detach yourself from the world, accept death, then you will be free. Edit: I understand Occam's Razor, but in reality you never truly know what is real.

41 RepliesHow can you not believe in some greater power? You think this is all by chance? Out of the entire universe this one planet happened to orbit a sun at the precise distance necessary to neither freeze or burn all potential life. And then it just happened to be inhabited by intelligent life and not a bunch of single cell organisms... It has the necessary elements and atmosphere. . . Btw why haven't we found other planets with the same luck? What makes you you? Why do we even ask or care? There is a reason.
-
It would take a lot more than that.
-
South park put it almost perfectly even if religion was eradicated humans would just find another reason to descriminate each other and continue to fight. It is our nature.
-
The entire world would be a hell of a lot less complicated.
-
Neither. People will always fight over some stupid shit. They'd just use something else to justify their hatred.
-
1 ReplyMy mind thinks too logically. Why would I follow some people who argue over topics with no proof of anything all the time, when I can focus my time on productivity.
-
Religion is wall that separates cultures and give them more to discriminate others by. Just look at the past when Christians were viewed as evil, then they flipped the script and view everything else as evil. No religion equals open mind and open heart.
-
Neither, religon is a war crazed feeling frenzy and humans are inately imperfect, no utopia could ever happen
-
Utopia can't exist with or without religion due to human nature
-
There's no evidence to support God. Except a book. But the tricky part is faith. It says we must believe. So what if obstacles like evolution are here to test us. Test our faith.
-
Shut up
-
To generalize of course, humanity would have been better off without it then, as well as now.
-
No, but neither would a religious ran place be a utopia. As long as man exists there will never be a utopia. There would still be murderers, wealth hoarders, theft etc. ( in any society) it's innate in man to do evil, it's wether they choose to act on it or not, and some would no matter what.

3 RepliesEdited by UpstateAlmond56: 11/26/2015 10:17:27 PMYes. I don't feel like arguing, shoving religion down people's throats won't solve anything. BUT if people weren't set on their own opinions the world would be a happier place... just a thought
and yes I know that if you are atheist you can be strongly set on your opinions
