All video games are a waste of time. Accept reality
I love Halo and Destiny, but the truth is that all video games are just fun time wasters at best. At their worst they get people to devote countless hours on fake achievements that are worthless and unintentionally condition people to desire instant gratification that makes reality seem less interesting.
People arguing over video-games is like people arguing over candy-bars.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but isn't that kinda what they're for? Waste some extra time you have and for you to have fun? Sometimes I do feel as though people are ignoring the "have fun" portion and at that point they should probably stop playing UNLESS they play competitively or get paid to do so.

glass half empty approach. I can appreciate that. But the point is time is a value. and that value differs from player to player. Sure i'm wasting time regardless of what i'm playing. But the point is it's supposed to feel meaningful. That's not something you can really dispute.

Edited by Laedywen: 11/19/2015 2:58:53 AMok heres what i got out of gaming (except spending good time on it as a hobby - and sometimes waste time) if you can apply the XP system in your life, you become a person who starts doin what needs to be done. in my mind i have to achieve suff in life to level up, this includes daily workout, social contacts, work&income management etc. you can pull out your list as you wish i mean its easy to see it actually. you spend hours to the stuff i listed above in a game to become higher level. just try to apply that long term in your life and see how it works. even its a smallest thing. (and yea its a lot more boring but not much different than farming something in any game)
