I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE CURRENT SYSTEM JUST STATING AN OPINION THAT WOULD MAKE DESTINY BETTER TO CASUALS WHO LIKE PVP MORE THAN PVE BUT ALSO REWARDS THE BEST OF THE BEST
You go 9-0
You have been marked by the Eye of Osiris
Buff: You will only play against other players who have gone Flawless this week.
Buff: Character has massive light radiating from their head (bring back Nightfall buff animation)
If you can make it to the Lighthouse again you get much more rewarding gifts from Osiris. Like elemental primary/emblems/shaders
Buff ends at reset.
133,444 went flawless.
820,986 people played.
I will bet anything it drops below 800k this week. Bungies problem. We are just going to find a new game.
This would make matchmaking much much better at puting equal groups against each other
This would make players who have never been to the Lighthouse actually want to play.
Put non flawless players vs non flawless players.
Sick of people playing just to keep others from going.
Regardless of your opinion, thanks for the bump.
Best responses
If I considered myself one of the best. This idea would really appeal to me.
Pure competition only play against the best.
But from what I'm reading in the responses it's more you want to stop others getting to the lighthouse than you want to fight competitively.
Seems pretty childish to me.

I would just like to see the best Elimination players face each other.
It would be well worth watching.
It looks like the majority of flawless people would rather stop people getting to the lighthouse than fight other flawless. #cowards maybe.

I find it funny that those who have gone flawless and replied to this post have almost universally been rude and offensive.
What's so wrong with more people getting the chance to go to lighthouse? Why are the so called "elite" so threatened by this?

I agree, it would open up more opportunities for the people who didnt go flawless, to do so. And once that happens (if i was to go flawless). Id love to play against the best of the best. Brings more intense and fun competition.

Having gone flawless: I LOVE this idea. Not only do I get to show off that not only did I got flawless that one time (emblem), but I did it THIS WEEK (flaming head).
Not only that, but now I can compete against the best of the best and not destroy the balance of Trails by continuing to compete against scrubs who are already struggling.
I'm down to make trails more accessable. I think this is brilliant.

I think if you have gone to the lighthouse, you should never play a team that has zero lighthouse arrivals. I think rewards should scale acoordingly. I dont have the time (and this pvp is dreadful) to learn the minutiae of a map while being rap3d by "elites" its bad enough i cant get a decent team for oryx hm cp.
Edited by TheTrollingBear: 11/8/2015 5:36:43 PMGone flawless. I wouldn't mind this, if multiple returns to the lighthouse against purely flawless competition netted us guaranteed rewards that were worth it. I would definitely attempt it at least a couple times regardless of rewards, just to see where my fireteam stands. But without the carrot at the end of the stick, not much incentive. I kinda like the idea of tiered rewards for multiple trips back. However, I feel like this would make it more appealing to everyone, and make the initial lighthouse trip easier against a diluted field of players. I think this may be the arguing point though, that it shouldn't be any easier to get there, since it would essentially be normal elimination then, and the return trips being the "actual trials". Either way it goes, I don't really mind, this sounds like an interesting change.

4 RepliesI think that this is a great idea, the main reason I see people saying they continue playing after going flawless is because they like the game mode, if bungie created a playlist that opens after going 9-0 which would be ranked so you can see in game where you stand against the best in the world, I believe that this would appeal to most of the pvp community and maybe have some sweet rewards for the people close to the top like unique items or free dlc or something I don't know but it would be heaps better than what it is now

1 ReplyI am laughing my ass off at "Eliminate players who pay to win" Shit guys, we've lost. That guy's got a dance move I don't. It's over. Fgt.

I believe a new system has to be implemented for matchmaking. Assuming the 'matched with people on same passage progress is working' (which it frankly isn't, we've been matched with teams about to be kicked / about to go flawless right from the start). I believe more focus should be to teams skill. all too often we're matched with players we steamroll / completely grind us into the dirt, and it seems to be totally random - and as prefaced not based on progress. Personally I would rather play a close competitive match against equals. I also hate that my passage is always ruined, not by a final match against a high skill team, but by a match somewhere around 4-5 games in with said players. Its inconsistent and much more frustrating.

1 ReplySure BUT They should be able to go to the lighthouse multiple times then, but it goes up a tier each time

7 RepliesI agree. I want to go to the Lighthouse with people that are willing to help, regardless if they have gone flawless before or not. I'm a casual pvp player. My kd is less than 1.0, but that doesn't mean I'm terrible--and elitists need to understand that this game isn't their job like they make it out to be. "Must be 310+ light. Must have flawless emblem. Etc etc." Its stupid. I replaced CoD with this game thinking that there would be nicer, more helpful people. Ha, boy I was wrong. If you're someone who's gone flawless, do the rest of the community a favor and help others who aren't as prevelant in ToO. It gets the statistic higher and you will see a happier community.

2 RepliesI like the idea of a cosmetic buff or flaming helmet when you complete flawless for the week. But isn't "balancing" Trials contradictory to its competitive nature? It's supposed to be hard to get into. Earn your stripes. Or don't.
-
Agreed. I posted something near identical to this in a thread a week or so back, but it never got bumped. Glad to see like minded Guardians getting it out there though. Idea's good, I support it.
-
I love it. And hey give them a second set of rewards. Prove you're the best by beating the best, not by beating up on teams of people who have no clue what they are doing.
-
And you have to ruin the only competitive part about this game.
-
1 ReplyAnd it simultaneously implements a lower form of ranked playlists
-
1 ReplyIt would be interesting to see 3v3 flawless already only matchmaking
-
1 ReplyMaybe. I don't care but I think the community would enjoy it if they got a better reward by going flawless again.
-
5 RepliesYou should stick to what you're doing and keep trying really hard. The more you try, the better you will be, and one day you will get there! Bungie made the Trials bounties that have minimal competitive requirements to entice players that wouldn't be able to make the lighthouse. Just keep completing your bounties and one day, it will happen.
-
4 Replies
This would also eliminate the number of players that pay to win
Never go Full Retard.

please do this all my 8-0s we fight 3 people with flawless emblem and my two friends, while good, cannot keep up with their snipers when they try.
-
Bump. This would help eliminate lag

I'm sort of into this. I'm a casual pvper

1 Replyonce I go flawless I keep playing on a full card for the competition and to send people on their flawless game home packing

4 RepliesEdited by 氷水啼エジル・ギュミ: 11/8/2015 9:01:58 AMI don't get it. Bungie has essentially made the grind for gear and weapons easier this time around by adding armor on your 5th win and a weapon your 7th win. Plus you have bounties. I don't get what isn't more rewarding than this. I went to the lighthouse the first time around and the rewards were not worth it. I got the Inward Lamp at 314 and Voidfang Vestments at 310 and the shader. It wasn't worth it. You only get 1-2 drops this time around. What could possibly be so interesting about lighthouse drops? I played this weekend and I'm satisfied with just my 5/7th wins and getting the bounties done. As someone who is perfectly capable of going to the lighthouse, I don't get what the big deal is about it, whether you've been or not. Edit: I meant I got the emblem, not the shader.
-
I agree with this. That would be very interesting.
-
Bump the hell out of that. Should have been that way from the start, so other people might have a chance to make it.

1 ReplyI enjoy it currently but you have a very fair point.
