I've been reading a ton of forums about the HOS and how it needs to be nerfed and it's pretty lame especially when coming from anyone who mains a hunter. I'd like to respectfully submit that before Bungie nerfs Hammer of Sol it takes a long hard look at the Hunter class as a whole and the crucible stats associated with this class before trying to nerf the one decent perk the Titans have. I've seen videos where people complained about the amount of Armor a titan gets when using HoS, but they conveniently forget to mention that Titans have the Worst Agility, Recovery and worst Melee distance in game. So yeah, and Armor buff that is bigger then the other classes is totally appropriate for the Titan....It's all he has!! For the last year all you feather wearing savages (Hunters) have been absolutely feasting on the low hanging fruit that is the previously under equipped Titan. Well Hunters, this T-Rex now has teeth, and I have the stats to prove it.
Over the Life cycle of DESTINY's Crucible, the game mode has been absolutely dominated by the hunter class. This is apparent no matter what number metric you use, from top 5 (4 of the top 5 are Hunters) to the top 100 (64 of the top 100 are Hunters), the overwhelming majority of players are using the HUNTER class. Now people don't use this class because they enjoy having feminine feathers adorn their characters outfit, and it sure as hell isn't because they enjoy wearing the same helmet Princess Leia wore right before she got tongue F-ed by Jobba the Hut (Carbonite scene). People use Hunter for the same reason we all jumped on the turtle shell a hundred times in Mario Bros and pushed up ,up, down, down, left, right, left right, B, A, Start on Contra and continue to buy illegal coins (sorry EA) in FIFA. It simply gives the player a competitive advantage !!!!!! Anyone who argues that the TITAN was on an equal playing field with the Hunter class is clearly either A: a desperate hater or B: a disgusting Hunter fan boy who is butt hurt that he just got Hammered down.
I spent a little time going over the numbers. I broke it down by the three classes, top 100 K/D, since in crucible K/D is the metric used to measure if your a beast or a bitch in that game mode. In July in the year of our Lord 2015, 53 of the top 100 players used a Hunter including 15 of the top 20. That's 53% of the top players in Crucible, how is that parity? Since the implementation of the new Sun breaker Sub class and specifically the Hammer of Sol unlock the Titan has finally become legit. In September of 2015, which represents the first two weeks of this subclass being in action, there were 18 titans in the top 100 leader boards. That's a fairly significant increase considering that in August of 2015 only 7 Titans were represented in the top 100 players. Its safe to say that before Sun breaker was implemented the titan class was literally dying. Fast forward to the present day and the Titan class has been reinvigorated with a whopping 30 Titans in the top 100.
Bottom Line, before this new subclass was released the Titan's were all but extinct. This sub class has reinvigorated the Titans and brought them on a level playing field with the rest of the crucible. For those who don't like it, better stop being selfish and start firing up those tethers as this super was specifically put into place to shut down the new supers of the Titan and Warlock. It's not Bungie's fault that the game is not being played correctly by the Hunter community in regards to tactically deploying their support supers. The uproar in the community just goes to show how pampered the Hunters of the world have become. Well the Hunter's reign a the top is over. Welcome to Hammer time!!!

Edited by Rei: 12/6/2015 4:48:53 AMHOS 1) Hammers do huge area damage whether the hammer hits the mark (death) or somewhere near the mark (dodged = near death) 2) Even if it happens to fly by near me, it takes out most of my health. 3) Huge shields = impossible to kill, even with a Super Give me one super that the Hunters have that does that much damage and takes so little. Every single hunter super requires precision hits. None of them involve making them impossible to kill. I'd like to see stats regarding the proportion of PvP kills/denies during a Sunbreaker super versus all the other classes/subclasses, with respect to the amount of players in that particular class/subclass. From what I've seen, more people play Hunter in general, so the numbers could be skewed in terms of the number of "top players". How does it fare if you consider the proportion of people that play crucible of each class?

Edited by Tzoedn: 10/25/2015 7:46:39 PMI think that the natural over shield needs to be brought down by just a bit. It is rediculous that a sunbreaker that is not even standing in a sunspot will take 2 golden gun shots to bring down. That's 2/3 of the hunter super (unless you still use the symbiote). Compared to HOS that has a perk in their subclass to throw more hammers, and can one shot any other super with a direct hit. Bring down the natural shield just a tad, and I'd say it's balanced enough

2 RepliesBiased post is......
biased
-
it doesn't need nerfed at all even tho I hate the Damn thing, what needs to be done is golden gun to actually one shot them like the update told us all over increasing the damage beceause every time I use the stupid thing I can't take down a hammer of sol
-
1 ReplyThis shows that the sunbreaker is going to keep rising on the stat charts if it was around on day one it would be the highest kd super in the game

Edited by BearsMaulThings: 10/24/2015 1:30:16 AMUsing the top one hundred players has literally made the rest of your post null and void. That is a very skewed set of statistics and really doesn't give a fair view of the average or even higher than average players only the best. There was never a time when any class was extinct, the percentages have never even had a double digit difference.

5 RepliesDude ur stats are garbage. Let me guess sunbreaker doesn't need nerfed because it's the only way you can get kills. Yep thought so.

21 RepliesEdited by Brandolier: 10/21/2015 6:10:29 PMYou lost it right in the beginning when you said Titans have the worst recovery. Learn the classes and the game before you say things. The only class that can't get both high armor and recovery together is Hunter. You made a lot of false statements. Titans were never almost extinct. The difference between the most played class and the least played class was less than 6-8%. Your post is riddled with lies and desperation.
-
Bottom line is this when 95% of people that hear that hammer of sol they run for dear life or the whole team has to shoot at him which 2/6 at least DIES !!! no other special makes someone do that even when golden gun is popped people try to take the hunter out if that's not OP I don't know what is I appreciate the warlock special even though I think it lasts a little too long...but honestly you think just because titans got a new super people are climbing into the top ranks that's the dumbest thing I ever heard supers are used twice if not maybe just maybe 3 times in a game. If 75% of the people playing destiny think that titans super is OP now why cant you titans see that ...btw I use MAINLY HUNTER ON MY PS4 and I haven't complained one bit about the nerfs done to my class
-
Edited by FreeformAxis: 10/22/2015 12:01:48 AMYou have one maxed character (titan) and one level 7 hunter. Your post is very biased. You are only posting this because you focus on one class. Bet you would call for a nerf on other classes that seemed OP. As long as it doesn't affect the one you play. If you played more than one class, I'd probably read the article more thoroughly.

Yes Hammer of Sol sucks. But I'd rather Bladedancer get a huge buff to even the odds.

Lamo ur a sunbreaker Titan

8 RepliesI am completely OK with hammer of sol. The only problem I see with it is that after every kill their health regens. That makes it OP. Maybe make it regen half???

1 ReplyHey check out this small article on class balancing. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/156617833/0/0

3 RepliesYour sample size and data is way too small to be conclusive on anything, and player preferences don't automatically correlate with power and ability. Also, just because Titans didn't have much by way of supers before isn't an excuse to not nerf something if it does indeed need it. I'll ask you one question: What is a disadvantage of using Hammer of Sol? I can't think of any. I can think of at least one for every other super in the game, except Hammer of Sol. It gets the best of all of the other supers (high power, health regen, health boost, close range, long range, normal movement). I think that alone shows that it needs to have at least one disadvantage to be level.

3 RepliesArrr Ya ready, scrubs? Aye, Aye, Bungie!!! I can't heeeeeeaaar yoooouuuu!!! AYE, AYE, BUNGIE!!! Oooooohhhhhh.... Who lives in the raid area under the reef? Sponge-Boss Nerf-Pants! Bump! That speech brought a tear to my eye :,) well said.

16 RepliesThis is coming from the guy who only has a level 40 Titan and a level 7 hunter, even so I main a warlock and I think that a slight decrease to the duration of HoS is all it needs, and a GG is only unable to one shot a sunbreaker on activation of HoS, just avoid the Titan for a few seconds then shoot them with GG and they're done, it's the same with nova bomb, only difference is that nova bomb gives an armor boost on activation while GG does not

Depending on the perks you use, it's so easy to get to the top with a Sunbreaker Titan. The statistics are by no means convincing after just 5 weeks of gameplay. My Titan is not even fully upgraded but easily outclasses my Warlock. Playing Sunbreaker is easy as -blam!-.
-
1 ReplyThis video is against rockets! HAHAHA And it takes 2 to kill a full heath Sunbreaker!! LMAO
-
I must have my set up wrong because I'm not getting the invincible shit..I'm rather easy to put down
-
7 RepliesI stopped reading after your first two titan "Facts" were wrong. titans have the HIGHEST agility rating in the game. higher than hunter and warlock. they also have the highest jump, comparable only by a hunter with the boots of eao on a triple jump spec. I don't know if you've ever looked at the recovery ratings for warlocks or hunters spec'd in agility, but they have a sliver of recovery.

4 RepliesEdited by nextlevelsalty: 10/21/2015 3:08:43 PMStriker Titans are the fastest and one of the most formidable PvP classes if you play them properly. I'm practically untouchable on the move...it's hardly a bad class. People just tend to flock to Hunters and Warlocks because they're easier to grasp and utilise to their full potential. Hunters are also very fleet footed by default. FOH shuts down any super, including HOS...which is overpowered by the way. No class should have superior DR to radiant skin, AOE, transfusion, and mobile/ranged kill potential. It's broken. End of story.

49 RepliesEdited by j0mega6: 10/20/2015 7:50:46 PMPeople say HoS has too much armor but here's the thing, I'm almost certain that HoS gives the SAME EXACT armor buff as a blade dancer, but what makes the difference is the titan's natural defense stat. So in reality, hunters just want HoS armor to be nerfed to compensate the defense stat only Titans have. Using THAT logic, I could say blade dancers need to be slower so I can hit them more easily.
