I currently have 4115 grimoire 298 light and i see loads of other people who have higher light than me even though they are below 3000 grimoire
I know im more experienced in the game than people under 3000 but does it decide your skill level
I think yes

Played with people who have lower Grimoire and down better then me Say someone is just good at shooters and buys this game. 9-10 times they will do good
-
Grimoire is a record of everything you've done.
-
It shows time spent which is a mild indicator of skill. It also shows where players are weak i.e. I -blam!-ing hate salvage and I don't think I'll even get the tier one grimoire card anytime soon.
-
The way you play determines skill. Simple as that
-
I just love getting paired up with kids less than 3k Grimoire during strikes and having to carry them :')
If only I could express sarcasm
-
To a point it does. It determines play time, thus experience.
-
Experience trumps skill so id say yes
-
It represents your time/effort put into the game. I'm a day 1 player and I am lacking new ghosts and a bunch of crucible stuff. I'm pushing 4400 though.
-
No but aside from actually seeing someone play it's something to go off of. Experience and no skill>no experience no skill. So there's that

Edited by Tertain: 10/5/2015 4:12:09 PMIf you have max grimoire then yes. Because you pretty much did the 100 Rumble wins, skirmish wins etc..
-
It determines experience, not skill
-
its not skill but it gives an idea how expeirenced that player in is game is. or knows more.
-
It's rather an indicator of experience.
-
Ghosts alone can be like 1k grimoire at this point. Dedication maybe, skill not at all.
-
Higher grimoire is usually a wiser player. Doesn't necessarily make a better player, but they're more versed in the gameplay mechanics at least.
-
Not necessarily your skill per se, but it's definitely a reflection of your experience and what you've done in the game, so it does matter.

Edited by A KOOL POP TART: 10/5/2015 4:05:14 PMMy friend had over 3300 in Year one and sucked at the pvp. So no. If anything, it says that you've been playing since the beginning and have experienced the ups and downs and all the WTF moments that were in year one.
-
I belive it works a completion of the game rather then how much skill that player has.
-
I dont believe it does 100% of the time. But more often than not high grimoire levels seem to be better at pvp and PvE. In my personally experience that is
-
It shows a complesioneist at work. People that have higher grimore has more experience overall.
-
If i see a person with 4000+ grimoire, that tells me at least has a good understanding of most if not all of the games mechanics. If I see someone with a grimoire score of 2000 or less, then I know that they're at least somewhat new. Grimoire score for me is what I expect out of you, not what I look for. If I raid with randoms and 4 of them have 4500+ grimoire and one of them has 2235 grimoire, then I'm not gonna be hard on the guy with 2235 grimoire it he messes up, I'll just tell him what went wrong and how to correct it. The 4500+ grimoire players get no slack though, if they mess up, then I'm gonna get up in there ass. I'm not saying that all players with low grimoire score are going to be worse than ones with higher grimoire; I'm saying that it gives me something to gauge their knowledge off of.
-
I've played since day one. My grim score is almost 4K.....am I the best player in the crucible? No. Am I always picked for raids even when I don't know them? No. Am I constantly messaged in destiny because of my grim score? No. Point is...it's just a number and it does not determine how much skill the player has....anyone who thinks so puts to much faith and hope into a number instead of hand holding the gun....
-
I feel Grimoire is more a representation of time played and dedication towards the game as opposed to skill. I could have a higher grimoire than you, but that doesn't change the fact i suck at crucible.
-
4710 grimoire and highly skilled. Grimoire only determines skill to a certain extent. People with a higher grimoire also tend to be better in general, but thats not always the case.
-
I've been playing this game since almost the beginning and I only have 3190 grimoire

For me the only section that might be relevant to skill is the weapon kills. I would expect someone who has rank 3 kills in all weapon types to be more experienced, and more likely to have skill in using those weapons. But it's not that simple, some people don't need all that experience and can probably out gun most after just 20 hours in the game...
