Exotic sword materials are too rare.
The rare planetary materials for an exotic sword are painfully hard to come by.
I wasnt much of a fan of getting 25 guardian kills but I did it anyway because it's a realistic challenge. Collecting a rare material is also a very logical and typical step but the drop rate is much too low.
I spent over an hour on it lastnight and only have 3 to show. Farming something so rare is an absolutely mind numbing exercise and I hope its changed.
Seriously Bungie, on paper it is a great idea but... Have you had any testers see how long it actually takes to farm these and see how fun it was for them?

5 RepliesI'd rather farm for an hour for materials for an exotic than the kind of mission you have to do for black spindle. It's an exotic weapon that you have work for, no being at the whim of RNG. And the payoff is worth it, I've yet to get Raze Lighter but my favorite sword so far is Bolt Caster.

Hey 1 hour is no grinding ! Anyway after one month there will com a nerf so it is not necessary to spend time on it.

I did this as well. for 3 swords. around my last sword. i finnally found a decent trick.. instead of staying in one area farming forever. i found one in one area. moved to a new area. found it. moved to the next. or back to previous area. or went to orbit. for my spinmetal sword. it took me prolly 30-45 minutes to get all the rare mats.

Bro did you play vanilla? Those in vanilla had to do this 24/7. Quite whining kid. Least you get an exotic for it, back then you didn't get an exotic for it. Only a upgrade or two

Agreed. Bungie altered the economy in order to stop people from mindlessly circling planets, and then just added it back in on purpose

I have all three swords and it was easy. You either equip the ghost that points out that material or you grab one and glitch the spawn by going back and forth between areas. In the end it is and "exotic".

Just equip a ghost that detects the appropriate node. That way you won't just wander grabbing the ones you see.

Yes let's make it super fast and easy for everyone to get an exotic quest done at THEIR convenience. It took me 2 hours to do it. Really not that hard. You are just lazy. [spoiler]boo hoo[/spoiler]

2 RepliesI did it three times to get each sword type, so you can too. Use a ghost that detects the material you are after, and if you have a nightstalker, use the scanner perk.

It's a bit rough, if you're lucky you'll get all the materials within an hour. Usually I'm not lucky and I'm farming for 3 or 4... i hate farming for mats. It brings up too many bad memories from year 1.

You have to do ability kills too, if you find a system it works pretty great. I had to do it on Mars with my hunter so I had the enhanced tracker. But after awhile I knew all the spawn locations so all I had to do was keep circling the same area and clear enemies out with the bow or grenades. Took some time but it felt so good to finally complete it. It's an exotic sword it shouldn't be easy

Use a ghost shell what detects the deststion material you're looking for.
