Is anyone else disgusted by the quality of rocket launchers in this DLC?

I'm also talking PvE here. I don't use Rockets in crucible.[spoiler]Corrective Measure since '84[/spoiler]Perks are universal. I don't care about your awesome roll on your Smolder or Choleric Dragon cause they're garbage launchers. [b]How many rockets you carry doesn't matter, because a roll with tripod or field scout will max that out when combined with rocket ammo boots. [/b][i]Getting tracking added to your rocket launcher with cluster bombs because you have the Taikonaut is great and all, but [b]IF YOUR BLAST RADIUS AND VELOCITY ARE LOW, IT'S STILL A SHITTY ROCKET LAUNCHER[/b][/i]
The only good rockets appear to be The Vertigo and the generic Suros version you can get from the Gunsmith.
Just for clarification. A rocket launcher is to deliver splash DPS to an area. The most important stat is Blast Radius. How big the blast is. The next most important stat is Velocity. How fast the blast gets where it's going. If one of these is low, it's a shit launcher end of story. Doesn't matter what perks you got, or what exotics help it.

7 RepliesI've never had the problem. I got the Elulim's Frenzy (Raid Rocket) With Tracking. I'm just lucky I guess. Though I did get an Ash Factory with Cluster Bombs.

Y2 ash factory dismantled because it was nothing close to my tripod cluster y1. Hoping to get another with better rolls.

people seem to hate the low blast-radius/velocity launchers like the smolder and pax totalus however, they have the fastest rate of fire and reload, which equals highest DPS of any laucher. (Damage for lauchers is the same for a single target at the centre of blast regardless of blast-radius stats) This turns them from being effective against adds to being boss-killers.

you cant really go wrong with any of the legendary suros launchers. Those typically have pretty high velocity/ blast radius/ reload which is typically what people look for with rockets. The 1 on my titan is a good example.

year one was a bit overpowered if you compare launchers. ghorn wasn't even a launcher, it was a play method. that launcher could drop praetorians in VOG, a fully leveled void ash factory could not. when you have one launcher that is clearly better than every other choice you wind up with everyone using it. i think bungie REALLY tried to balance weapons this time but did so a bit on the weak side. perks are low, base stats are low. the whole theme of ttk is a more difficult game but it is something new and keeps a guy trying. absolutely can see it pushing off people who don't take the game that serious.

Lol yeah most of them are garbage. I've got a smolder with a great roll, but it's got such garbage velocity that people just walk the other way and outrun my rocket LMAO

Check FWC. They've got a rocket with high velocity and blast radius. I have one with tracking and one with horseshoes.

Raid rocket is pretty beast
