So, how hard is Tier 3 Court of Oryx actually?
I got my first antiquated rune and I don't want to waste it by failing to kill the boss. Bungie says Tier 3 CoO bosses are "raid level"; does that mean they require coordinated teams with precise strategies? Or can I just hang around the court until a few randoms show up and have a decent chance? I'm 290 light btw, if that matters.

It's easy. Kill swordbearer immediately and then run right at the fanatic.

1 ReplyIf you have a group let the person with 300 or better light run the sword. The recommended light for that is 300 so you being at 290 puts you at a disadvantage. And here's some advice use one of the three of coins, so when you kill him you have a chance for exotic orb. I ran it with 6 people last night and got 2 exotic engrams out of 5 tries.

Jumped in the middle of what I think was a tier 3 fight today. It was exactly like the Crota boss fight (the boss even looked like Crota) except all the enemies were taken and immune to everything except the sword. I pretty much ran around getting murdered over and over because I'm too low level XD.

Got lucky and put together 9 people in the court, did 8 tier 3s. Very fun.

4 RepliesI didn't think Crota fanatic was that bad once you tried it a few times. Just make sure you have a good sword runner and that they grab it quick before some jackass new player picks it up for shits and giggles. I got lucky and one of the patrol players was a -blam!-ing AMAZING sword runner, so my team let him do the hard work. :P

Its a breeze if the players around you know what they are doing. For instance, this week it took me three days to find other people in the court that understood the need to shoot the big knight until his shield dropped so that he would kneel so that we could chop him with the sword. Of course, being a veteran of a hundred or more Croata raids, i knew exactly how to beat this guy two minutes after meeting him.

I do about 10 daily. I use mine then stay and help anyone else wanting a run. Crota is easy with the exotic sword. In shield mode, you are immune to all attacks, including Crota's sword. Just kill sword bearer and drop Crota. Kill adds while swordsman strikes Crota. I save my super for add clearance. Kill the Wizards first. They cause gavoc for the run. The Taken are humorous and die easily.

You need 5-6 people, and be prepared to fail the first couple of times.
