How to counter thorn?
Any ideas on how to counter Thorn in PvP as a titan (I want to clarify so I don't get a million "use the ram!" posts)? I know Red Death is great to counter DoT, but it doesn't seem to have the right range or impact to stop good Thorn users fast enough to use the healing. What else do you guys got, because I'm freaking tired of being Thorn OP'd and feeling forced to use my Thorn just to stand a chance!

If the thorn gets the 1st shot in and the user is a decent player, you're screwed.... Tlw if u strafe a bit or shoot 1st up close, mid+ range you're screwed. Its not hard to outgun tlw with thorn from using both Snipers are ur safest bet, then a vertical when challenging a thorn user to make them miss or hesitate Red death only against blah thorn players, then again many guns can outgun that player; thorn can outgun red death easily that health regain isn't anything a thorn user worries as they won't live to activate it Thorn is in a league of its own and is the go-to gun for a reason, dumb testers over at bungie to blame...completely dumb

Try to get the first hit in.. Preferably a head shot..with a high impact weapon. For example hand cannons like the fulcrum or vendored scout rifles. If they tag you first try strafing to make it harder for them to follow up. If you've managed to tag them to half health follow up with a cheeky nade. And if your flashing red after there initial attack. Find cover!!

1 ReplyVision of Confluence, Red Death are my go to weapons when there are a bunch of Thorns on the other side. Oh, and disengaging from the firefight when i need to. Seriously people need to use cover more.

Mida or a good pulse rifle, but the real trick is knowing the map and where people typically peak in and out of. With these weapons try and stay mid range and not run into choke points head on.

If you use a weapon that has high caliber rounds, it helps by shaking their aim. This makes it harder for them to keep accuracy

MIDA, Red Death, Messenger/Hopscotch, TLW, any sniper rifle.

Hawkmoon or fatebringer to see them explode in a fireball is very rewarding. If I'm in the mode then I would go out of my way just to melee them.

A super. Preferably a hunters.

MIDA. Staggering rounds plus the added strafe ability make it extremely hard for thorn users to hit headshots. Especially since most of them actually aren't good.

New gun I got on my titan high road soldier like the mida tool, but better range, stability, and I got full auto and hidden hand. Technically it has also the same stats as the vex but with out fusion nerf...but news going around a glitch with thorn regarding final round/cheating...there are also other guns that are just as good that you can get, the two scout rifles that look like the crota one, orange one is beast, also a pulse rifle called hopscotch pilgrim, but yup need that roll full auto and hidden hand.

Shoulder charge thr thorn user and make sure you have the health regen perk for it. Or snipe them in the face with a sniper or use a long ranged fusion rifle or the no land beyond if you can master that weapon. You'll be more godlike then thorn users or last word users.

Edited by dontknowyyou: 7/8/2015 5:33:34 PMThe messenger seems to tie with the thorn to me. It usually ends up with both of us dieing. The messeneger two burst kills if you hit in the head. Its range and impact is perfect for thr thorn. But it would usually be a draw. The allfate pulse rifle has the potential to kill thorn users faster then the messenger tho depending on the players armor you are shooting at. It will also 2 burst an enemy its better if you have headseaker on it though.

Red death to counter DoT. Any pulse rifle to put them down across the map. Don't stand in their sights of you've been hit. Take cover. Most think they can stand and fight.
