It's a gray area. But you are being a bit sensationalist about it and are obviously biased. 1) it doesn't violate any EULA. Nothing is modded. It doesn't allow users to do anything a normal controller would not also allow. No rapid fire, no auto aim, no recoil scripting, macros, etc. 2) MS has already acknowledged the existence (on XBox 360) and said they continuing to assess them but didn't see it as violating any agreements. 3) It fits in the same categories of peripherals as fighting game arcade sticks, driving and flight simulator setups, etc. They are ideal control schemes for a particular genre of games. Yes, the controller could be used, but show me the last SFIV champ who used a controller. 4) PC gamers are flocking to consoles because that is where the playerbase has flocked to. Yes, they could play on PC, but the community is smaller, and frankly, not as supported by devs and publishers. #4 is the key. The best console players are as good and better than the best M&KB players. Take Destiny for example - look at the top players and streamers. More of them are controller than M&KB. You may feel like M&KB players have some innate advantage because they all seem to do well. They do well because they've probably been playing FPS games online and/or competitively for longer than some controller players have been alive.... let alone been playing games. If you think it is such an advantage, pick one up and try it out. I've suggested this to so many people. Half of them go back to controllers because they aren't as good.... especially console kiddies who want one because they think it, alone, will give them this huge advantage and let them kill everyone and make awesome montages. But the reality is, they just aren't good at FPS games. If you want to know the advantage that M&KBs offer console gamers, it's the fact that it allows you to keep the 20 years of FPS experience on PCs you've accumalated and put it to use on a different platform. Don't get me wrong - it is an advantage. It is easier to be good with it. But the ceiling is the same ceiling as controller users. You can be as good or better with a controller, but it takes more time and commitment to do so. And let's be honest - FPS games shouldn't be played on controllers anyway. Aim assist, bullet magnetism, etc.... all shit mechanics added to compensate for a less than ideal input device.
