They have to be well aware of the uneven playing field after 2 weeks of trials, seeing at least 50% of players opting to use thorn. I would just like to see some diversity in the new amazing PvP outlet they have given us old diehard competitive FPS fans. I have been loving it by the way!!
Edit: thought i would point out to everyone who thinks this is just a whine thread because players have a better weapon than me, I use thorn, but only in Trials of Osiris, because i don't believe in taking a handicap just to make the game more interesting, at least not when the stakes are so high, like they are in Trials of Osiris. I have been to the light house 5 times now, and I doubt i would have made it there without the thorn.
Don't take my opinion for it, just look at the numbers of players who use the thorn in Trials of Osiris, I don't think Bungie wants their player base to have over 50% using one weapon in the highly competitive game mode they just introduced, I can't believe some of you actually want to argue the point that its OP, but hey it'll happen sooner or later.
There are a few weapons in the top 5 that can "compete" with the thorn, but the thorn is the clear #1 by quite a bit. Thanks for those of you who actually want to contribute to the conversation.
Edavi830: I would say that use of Thorn in trials far exceeds 50%. I would put it closer to 75-80%. Regardless of what the Thorn fanboys say (and I have one), any time you have a competitive environment where one gun dominates so hard that it removes variety from the game, it has to be recognized as a problem. For that alone, it should be rebalanced.
I think this guy put it best.

The thing about thorn is everyone can get one ! I have one fully powered up but I don't often use it because mida multi tool is far more enjoyable at the end of the day it's just a game, doesn't matter if you win or lose
