It's just different.
Destiny's pvp experience is fun in unique ways.
I have been getting back into Battlefield 4, after almost 6 months without playing I'm very rusty.
ghost was fecking awful.......id play this over that, and I play it over advance warfare too. Im done with cod but might get blops 3 for zombies...........
there hasnt been a good PVP shooter period since Counterstrike.
I'm a casual and if I can hop in and still be competitive there's something wrong.
So yeah no surprise there.
Not quite. Its a better than the average COD game, but the longer it exists the more that new players will get demolished by people with rare weapons like Mythoclast etc.
I love Crucible and think Bungie has done a tremendous job in making it a better experience especially with the most recent changes to ammo distribution. That being said, this is the first competitive multiplayer I've played so don't have anything to compare it to.
I'm probably in the minority, but I am one of the few people that appreciates what Bungie tried to do with their MP. MMO PVP meets FPS. Perks, abilities, and class difference plays a strong role. It's not COD or Halo, and never tried to be.
However there are some very real issues with the PVP. One, the lag can be awful, and it seems that the worse your connection, the bigger advantage you have, I shouldn't have to have Netflix streaming on the other tv in order to balance the playing field.
Second, while they make a very real attempt for there to be a difference in weapons, i.e. the perks, ranges, impact, etc. Something that should drive you towards finding your preferred load out, it often drives people towards one or two weapons. I understand why, however it's sucks seeing a team all using one weapon against you.
Now it is also important to understand when it comes to the weapons, that it is;
1- impossible to please everyone. For every person that is using a vex, there is a person being killed by it that immediately flock to the forums to bitch about it.
2- it is also impossible to balance everything to make people happy. They are always going to try and balance things, but that means making something weaker, which in turn makes other things more powerful. So naturally people will flock to what is more powerful. Remember when everyone was using suros? Why? Cause it was the best weapon to use. Then they nerfed it and everyone ran to TLW or thorn.
3- when Bungie does try to balance things everyone bitches. Everybody bitches about handcannons and how OP they are, especially the exotics. Yet when Bungie tried to nerf handcannons so that they were less accurate during sustained fire at range they would be innaccurate, everyone whined. Do you see the problem here? Not everyone is going to be happy, the we pins you like will be nerfed/buffed while weapons you gate will also be nerfed/buffed.
4- exotics. Everyone screams about exotics being OP. Exotics are supposed to be OP, that's how they work. If you don't own/refuse to use them because of pride, it is not up to the rest of the community to not enjoy using them. If you really have a problem with a particular exotic you need to find a way to beat them. There is always a strategy, and no one exotic is perfect for every map.
I truly believe Bungie is making strides to make PVP better everyday, but it's not going to please everybody, it never will. I remember a day when a bladed acer with Suros might as well have been god mode. The changes have made many people happy, and upset others. That's life.
Sorry for the length post, hopefully someone enjoyed my opinions. This in no way was directed at OP or any one person, but more so all the combined bitching on this forum about pvp.
The only people who say this are the ones who wish they were better, or prefer a different feel to the gameplay...
Destiny is as competitive as any other, but it doesn't play like Counter Strike.. thank god for that.
I would say yes, definitely. And all I do in this game is play Crucible.
I went back to playing Titanfall recently, and am still really amazed as to how much better the gameplay mechanics, and weapon balance feels.
Everything seems to feel so much smoother, too.
Derek Carol is the dork who is the main multiplayer design lead. You have him and the idiot bloom guy to thank for how horrible the competitive part of the game is
