Why are gamers so attracted to . . .
. . . the color black. A lot of the time I'm running through crucible or slapping Rahool in the tower, I see tons and tons of guardians wearing Dead Orbit's class item. The majority of people I've asked say they're doing it for the shaders that DO offers. Those shaders being a mix of black and white.
I personally have to ally myself with the Future War Cult.
So why are so many players attracted to Dead Orbit? Is it the guns? The armor? Or the fact that everything is black?
Edit: Wow I didn't expect this to blow up overnight with nearly 300 responses. A lot of you make good points about going for DO shaders. Destiny tends to give us a lot of shaders that make us look like depressed clowns and it would only be logical to go after shaders that make us look good for once. I can't wait for the HoW shader so. Especially the third one that Petra will sell.

Because besides a handful of shaders the dead orbit ones are simply and clean looking. Not some crazy over the top multi colored nonsense that looks like a coloring contest for small children.

They thought they could predict the future by drugging gullible people and strapping them into a machine. Not cool bro. New Monarchy wants to depose the speaker/traveler in favor of an electoral monarchy. Electoral Monarchy? Don't even get me started on the possible issues of exploitation with that form of government, it's outdated and frankly idiotic to think that an earth of the future still favors that type of government. Dead Orbit sees the ultimate futility of existence, accepts the fate of earth is out of their control, and wishes to make an exodus for a possible fresh start amongst the stars. I dismantled my 4th Revenant shader a couple weeks back. I agree with DO on philosophical grounds, and disagree with the other two. If I disagreed w all 3, I'd probably rep vanguard/crucible. Role play all the way.

What do Mercenaries wear? Colourful red or blue shaders? Or Black and White? What about Agents? FBI, Swat... All dark toned colours mixed with white... Most of the bad asses wear just black... I am with dead orbit also, the Russian guy from Armageddon or those Black Ops 2 commercials is my leader... Lol

2 RepliesIts deeply programmed into people that black is a "scary" color. And gamers want to come off as scary in games. I myself like to take the ironic route and make my most powerful characters look cute-sy. Which is why my titan is decked out in pink with the glitter arm piece and frilly skirt... I think it frustrates people more if theyre killed by "Mr Pink" than the shadow ninja-assassin.
