Why are gamers so attracted to . . .
. . . the color black. A lot of the time I'm running through crucible or slapping Rahool in the tower, I see tons and tons of guardians wearing Dead Orbit's class item. The majority of people I've asked say they're doing it for the shaders that DO offers. Those shaders being a mix of black and white.
I personally have to ally myself with the Future War Cult.
So why are so many players attracted to Dead Orbit? Is it the guns? The armor? Or the fact that everything is black?
Edit: Wow I didn't expect this to blow up overnight with nearly 300 responses. A lot of you make good points about going for DO shaders. Destiny tends to give us a lot of shaders that make us look like depressed clowns and it would only be logical to go after shaders that make us look good for once. I can't wait for the HoW shader so. Especially the third one that Petra will sell.

I would be rocking FWC shader once I get one. I tried new monarchy and everything came out pink. BUNGIE's red in this game - come out to be a weird highlight orange. Reddish orange. thunderdevil for warlocks comes out in patches... Revenant is the only color that looks exactly what you anticipate to look like. Not even hangman or the other DO shader has this. For once I just want maroon, plain maroon. Like the color found on HoTP OR Voidfang vestments without a shader. Besides the PoE shader. I don't care for any other shader that Variks, Petra, or even ToO has.

But thunderdevil with the new sanction custom crucible armor for the hunter and (whatever that cloak is the speaker sells that has the red eagle on the back) is amazing. Black, white, with red accents. So sexy. Got it on now and as soon as I get it rolled with discipline and strength I'm ascending that beast look.

Glass house will become glowhoo, saints 14 is thunderdevil, obsidian mind any of the black shaders i still need, and my symbiote is the ToO shader (symbiote is affected by the shader) *check out my hunter :D*

If I buy armor I get it from FWC because I prefer Discipline and Intellect. Black is one of my favorite colors though. Or absence of color for you idiots who correct people on the forums...

An all black look makes you look larger and therefore more intimidating.

Because the black/silver/white motif looks good. Especially when you weigh them against other shaders. A lot of the fwc shaders look odd, and then you have things like jester apogee... Which do you honestly prefer, spec ops or birthday clown?

The colors black and white have the nature of complimenting any other color in the spectrum. Due to this, any sort of special color scheme from a weapon or exotic armor piece will look good with black or white. The same cannot be said for the red of New Monarchy or blue of Future War Cult, which would clash harshly with other specific colors. The only reason I can understand the common affinity for black and white is the result of their nature of complimenting.
