I could've bought the last exotic that I needed for my collection, but I just don't give a -blam! about stuff in this game anymore. What's the point in getting all of this stuff? Just to show how many hours of your life you have wasted because of RNG and pride? I honestly can't bring myself back to playing this game. I'm only here because I ran out of YT videos to watch and etc. I understand why people play video games, I'm a VERY active gamer but Destiny and it's crappy RNG makes you waste hundreds of hours more than other games trying to get something. Destiny takes away so many hours of people's lives that they could've spent legitimately with family or friends, and we all know that our loved ones could end up disabled or dead in some manner at any moment. Enjoy your family and friends while you still have them. (I'm mainly referring to real life friends) I'm not saying that you should stop doing what you think is fun, but don't waste hundreds of hours for something that really doesn't amount to much in real life. I never said that video games are completely bad for you. Yeah, they are a great way to meet virtual people and kill time. (Yeah, occasionally treat yourself to some extra hours of fun, but don't make it an everyday event) I am just saying that for those of us who haven't been through getting disabled or a recent death, disability, should enjoy family time for a decent bit and what not in their real life, while most things are alright for the time being.

  • I would have bought it just so it would've been of my mind and I could never think about it again.

  • Morale of the story: if you play destiny, your family will die

  • I still don't understand how people can get butt hurt over me telling them to spend more time with their family and friends, and less time festering in front of Destiny. I'm not demanding people to do it, I'm just letting people realize what consequences they can have happen to them.

  • It's easy to explain: they have to justify the fact that they sit in front of a screen playing destiny every day. I mean video games aren't even a very fun hobby. Bang bang another dreg down, how exciting! Pick up an instrument, get into woodworking or sculpting or even f'ing gardening--they are skills that have value AND are much more fun. Who wants to admit their life is pathetic? Not many people.

  • I do understand that some people use video games as a stress reliever or something like that.

You sound like a politician who's just been caught cheating; using your rational I presume you will sell on all video entertainment devices you own, or even better, so you're not responsible for anyone else's demise into wasting time you'll be burning them? Oh, by the way: I was the member of my family who sustained horrific injuries leaving me disabled. Having Destiny as a time vampire has helped me enormously, not only because of playing but in a major way the communication with good, kind people that I would have not had the opportunity to converse with without Destiny. Unfortunately there are also pillock's like yourself that judge others who have not had your 'epiphany' without regard to what lives we lead

  • Says the guy with over 500 hours played. The "your friends and family could become disabled or dead" guilt trip is invalid. That could happen anytime. I, along with many other people, work 40+ hrs a week. Since September (release date of destiny) that's roughly 1,120 hours. Maybe I should stop going to work everyday because one of my family or friends could die. Maybe kids should stop going to school for 7-8 hours a day because a friend or family member could die. And for the record, destiny didn't make anybody do anything. You chose to sit there for 500 hrs playing. You had the option to turn off your console. You say you are a very active gamer which means whether or not Destiny was the game you were playing, that same amount of time would have been spent on other games. Don't use Destiny as your scapegoat. You feel like your time was wasted on this game. Great. Good for you. It only took you 500+ hours to figure that out. The people still playing obviously still find some enjoyment or haven't hit their limit yet. I will never understand why people feel the need to boast about leaving destiny, other than trolling for attention. If you are done with it, then just be done with it.

  • Why? Because it's the truth? Don't post about people wasting hundreds of hours playing when you have hundreds of hours logged yourself. It's pure hypocrisy. I just called him out on his bs.

  • What contradiction? I never posted anything about 'people' wasting hundreds of hours. I just pointed out the OP, who has hundreds of hours logged, is telling people not to waste hundreds of hours on the game...

  • First of all, work and school are both mandatory. I am referring to free time (if you didn't catch that) and that you should not waste all of your time playing games. I never said that you should spend every moment of your life with your friends and family. I said that you should spend some time with them and enjoy the time you have with them, because they won't live forever. When did I say that Destiny forced anyone to do anything? All I said is that it has crappy RNG that makes people (as in some people) waste hundreds of hours of their lives. Yes I am a very active gamer, but I certainly would not have spent the same amount of time on other games. That is because there were no other games that I would be willing to buy at the time and therefore would be bored of video games for a while. How am I boasting in any way in my post? My post was just telling people something that I learned the hard way. What's that? Oh, you didn't even bother to consider that this guy might be speaking from bad choices and life lessons? Oh cool, other people are still enjoying this game? How could that be, maybe they are playing the game in moderation or occasionally doing so after a long day at work or simply having family time? Your "if you're done with it, then just be done with it" remark is like saying "Oh, you're done with drugs? Well don't give advice to other people who are struggling with a drug addiction, and don't help them get a better view or insight on how or why they should stop". Destiny is not a drug but it is addictive and bad for you in large quantities. I am not saying that you should stop all together, but rather do it in moderation. Non-medical/illegal drugs on the other hand are different and should be stopped altogether. That "it only took you 500+ hours to figure that out" statement could be thought of as you boasting, just saying. Next time don't twist people's words to conform it to your rather incorrect judgment on a decent post.

  • How is it up to you to decide that other people should stop doing anything? What they do, what games they play, how much time they spend doing it is none of your business. If they want to play, that's up to them. If they want to spend hours upon hours playing a game they enjoy, thats up to them. Just because you made bad life choices, as you say, doesnt mean everyone else does. Nobody on here asked for help or advice about playing video games. It's a game. One that people enjoy playing. Either in moderation or they still spend hours a day playing. It has no effect on you whatsoever.

  • The game can be addicting, to where people play well beyond what is reasonable. I got to that point and am oh so glad to be back doing other things I love. He was asking those people who may already know they have a bit of a problem to put it in perspective and consider playing a bit less before they are forced to. Don't be so enraged that he tried to help get people to merely consider getting off the couch every once in awhile. It's not like he's evil or hates people that play.

  • There is no rage here. I made statements and asked questions. Just because it's not something everyone agrees on doesn't mean it's a rage post. This is a forum for destiny, not a platform for an intervention. If people want to play, regardless of how many hours, they should play. It's nobody's business to stop them. If I choose to play 12 hrs a day, why should that matter to anybody on here? It's nobody's choice but my own. It affects no one else whatsoever. If I ever think I have a problem with video game addiction, do you think I would come to this forum for help or looking for advice? No. I'd talk to a professional. People need to stop worrying about other people and what they do and just start worrying about themselves.

  • Okay I gotcha. Didn't mean to sound like a jerk, just thought your response to him could have been a little more polite. It sounded angry and I just tend to think an argument can be more effective when it's expressed without so much fervor. People who are addicted to the game aren't generally likely to seek professional help, nor is such a thing really necessary. The addicts are more likely to be on the forum, and may have not realized the extent of said addiction. In that regard, his comment could prove useful for some people. For those like you that find no value in his comment or don't find it applies to you, then scroll right past it rather than telling him he has no right to try to get through to those who might need to hear something like that to snap out of the trance. It's easy to waste ones life, and video games are, essentially, a useless form of entertainment. If someone watched movies for 12 hours a day one might say they have a bit of a problem unless they are doing it for scholarly reasons. But I don't think anyone will be on their deathbed saying "God I wish I would have played more destiny." I can however picture someone saying "God why did I spend my youth, when my body was in peak form, binge drinking Mountain Dew on the couch and chasing elusive items in pointless games." I like being able to meet people and say, oh my hobbies include playing guitar in a popular band, building guitars, writing novels, and jogging. I feel good about that because they all have actual value. I don't think I'd feel so great saying "I play destiny." Not only does that sound pathetic, it doesn't do you any good in the future. I'm fine if thats some of you people's only hobby, but I think most humans would feel a bit of pity for you. Have fun doing it, but when I consider the myriad options of how to spend free time, playing a repetitive game sounds dull as shit.
