Petition for Monthly Subscription
Please please please Bungie start charging a monthly subscription fee. This would accomplish two things. 1st it would rid you of 90% of the whining cry baby demanding -blam-holes who demand every week that you nerf this or drop that or I quit rant. It really isn't necessarily a loss because the lost revenue from them potentially continuing after HoW is easily replaced with what would be earned from the monthly subscribers. Second, with this boost of revenue I am sure you guys could find SOMEONE WHO DOESNT HAVE THEIR HEAD UP THEIR -blam-!!
Edit: hmm well apparently the economy has not improved as well as Fox news would like you to believe. I never would have guessed that $10/month would cause such an uproar. I mean eat at McDonalds one less time in the month.
This edit is primarily for those who are willing to discuss the topic in a civil manner. I meant by having the monthly sub everything that has been promised would be delivered. I thought it was obvious that we all want not just more copycat content (like CTF), but Destiny original. A perfect example of what i am proposing is this. That with a monthly sub with this next DLC that will expand the vault, instead of just waking up the morning after the DLC and voila you have more vault space. What if instead you wake up and log in and find you have to go speak with the Speaker who sends you on a random side quest and after completion you have extra vault space.
Edit 2: so out of everyone that has read this thread, according to this ban poll Bungir would lose 300+ players. I think the $10/month would more than cover the lost revenue from these scrubs not purchasing anymore DLCs

There are several reasons this is bad. First, most console players aren't used to be the subscription model and that will turn people off. Second, subscription models change expectations. You will still have people discussing balance issues. Now you have people with expectations for updated content more regularly and Bungie probably doesn't have the capacity to realistically do that. Thirdly, RNG in the way Destiny handles it won't work. The Raids are the only content with dedicated loot tables. You would have to change that beyond Raids for people to be more okay with the RNG. If you want certain loot run this strike on this difficulty for a chance at it.

Some of us have bills and debt to pay off. There are plenty of games that are stepping away from the p2p model. The game alone isn't worth a monthly fee. They would have to recreate the game with an actual story and have 10 times the content than what is there now. As for the monthly fee, we already pay MS and Sony and some people can't afford much more than that. If this was on PC I would be less likely to object since when you upgrade the OS you don't lose compatibility with your games. When the consoles upgrade you have to rebuild your game library and accessories. With consoles only lasting 5-10 years if they are good (360 and ps3) a pay to play model is not the best method. It is more of a long term plan and consoles are short term. Look at how long Star Wars galaxies lasted and how long wow continues to last. These are proof that PC is the better platform for p2p and not consoles. We already "paying" a fee. When the comet comes out we will lose a lot of the light weights because they will move on to the next new game.

Maybe if you took the number of people you estimated that would quit destiny and multiplied it by say... 10.000 you might have an accurate number.

I don't mind sub fees if there is enough content/good servers to actually back it up. Destiny comes nowhere close to that though.

Having this game become subscription based will not solve anything. Activision still would have final say so over what gets pulled from the game and will continue to release like an IV. They maybe be going alittle over board with making Destiny last "10 years" by holding back too much too early

No one will fork money without a huge content update first which they won't do.. I won't pay without a meaningful reason to... if they can't motivate fast and actual gameplay content updates noe then it won't change in the short term with a dub which I dont have half a year more to wait for them to get their shit straight
