You can now transfer items to/from vault from this site or the companion app.
Best fix of the patch and it wasn't even announced!
Update for all the questions:
1) Yes it works in real-time during an active game. We tried it in the raid without any trouble. You can transfer or retrieve items and synths.
2) You can't change your active gun while playing. No idea why you'd want to but you can't.
3) Transferring between characters works as long as you first transfer the item to the vault and then to the 2nd character.
4) Transferring materials will produce a dialog asking how many you want to transfer. You can now split groups if needed.
5) For me at least this effectively great increases vault space since I can get rid of duplicates and centralize materials. No need to carry materials on every character. A lot of (extra) exotics are going to die today.

I don't get asked how many of a particular item I want to pull out of the vault when I use the app to do so. Anyone else have that issue?

Just did the update. Works fine on an HTC 1 android phone. Not sure I want to try weapons yet though. Just evened out some ammo synths between characters. As far as inventory space, why can't they just set the max number of items in a stack higher. For example I have over 200 sapphire wire in one stack. But for spin metal it starts over at 200. Just think that might help consolidate items.

I can transfer to the vault but cant transfer from. It tells me to visit the tower to retrieve the item. is there something i need to do differentl to be able to not go back to the tower?

Great addition to this game. However, every time I switch a weapon from character to character, I get kicked with the error code "weasel". Is this happening to anyone else?

I'm liking everything about this update so far.

Started the Weekly while I was at home, and spawned only find I had no Heavy Ammo synths. Got on the app, selected my character and went to the vault section in the app. picked up the heavy ammo synths and they showed up in about 5 seconds on my TV screen and in my character's inventory. This is one of the best features you have introduced yet. This will legitimately save me so much time in loading screens that it isn't even funny. Big thanks to the whole development team that was involved with this. They deserve the props for their work. Keep the updates coming, with more amazingly useful stuff like this and the reputation bar.
