Take this post to the top and let Bungie know people are pissed!
Edit: After reading many of your posts I think it is clear that a large majority are outraged. I want to make it clear that I am not opposed to grinding out weapons in a new way, but rather I'm opposed to having a freshly found icebreaker be equal to a maxed icebreaker. My time should be worth something.
Edit: The best solution that I have seen is to make it so only a fully upgraded weapon can be turned into xur. This would allow the reset to start at 302 and mean that I didn't waste my time.

Edit: For those of you who don't know, Deej has mentioned us in the weekly update. Through all of the PR speak the message was clear. "We didn't think about your time spent, sorry, but we are not going to change our plans"

1 ReplyEdited by Jimothy_P: 12/4/2014 5:48:08 PMCouldn't they have just added another column of attack upgrades to get exotics to the new attack cap and call it a day? That would have made much more sense. I understand not giving a free pass on boosting exotics to the new cap but the cost simply isn't worth it right now. An exotic shard to rewrap, another one to get the final upgrade, they are basically making us repurchase every exotic and start from scratch.

-blam!- YOU BUNGIE! Veterans players punish to appease newcomers! -blam!- YOU!!
-
1 ReplyAny chance of a comment from Bungie on this?
-
Riot!!!
-
2 RepliesIt's complete bullshit. It's beyond me why they can't just add another -blam!-ing upgrade or two?
-
2 RepliesIt's definitely not worth all that time for 20 attack they should just have it so that the exotic shard gives the exotic 2 more slots for damage to reach 320 not doing anything with XP but you would still need to grind out the last 2 slots as usual
-
2 RepliesWhy not just add more upgrade bubbles to existing gear path? I don't see why they need to add some reset to the exotic gear. There has got to be way less disruptive ways to implement this system, but still encourage players to put time into gear.
-
Leave and never come back then no one will miss you or care that you left
-
2 RepliesI agree, they should just add an extra upgrade node to your existing exotic
-
1 ReplyI agree with your op. But how is your second edit the best option? How about if we have a maxed exotic, they just add a final node to the tree. We have to level up that node by using the gun as we did with the other nodes then when the green circle is filled we need some glimmer and an exotic shard to upgrade it to the new max. Simple. I still have to grind to get it to the new lvl and my previous progress was not in vain.
-
2 RepliesThey could just add another upgrade bubble or two to the exotics we already have, they changed it once already so why not!?!
-
What approaches are others taking now when upgrading the following Weapons & Armour:? 1) Exotic Weapons 2) Raid Weapons 3) Legendary Weapons 4) Exotic Armour 2) Raid Armour 3) Legendary Armour Am confused.. should I stop upgrading skill trees on all items & wait until after the DLC lands? Gee BUNGiE, how about a short Vid to explain best approach - after all your making the changes? Cheers.

After seeing this update earlier today, I have been trying to figure out how on earth anyone though this was a good idea. Don't get me wrong, I get what Bungie is trying to do here, and I agree that current exotics definitely need a boost to keep up with the DB ones, it's just that I think the current solution is a very poor and borderline moronic one. There is one essential and glaring problem I have with bungie's current system. The fact that it is better and cheaper to boost a base exotic than an upgraded one seems very counterintuitive. Example: let's say that my friend has a fully upgraded thorn while I have a base last word. It will cost us the same (1 exotic shard) but he will have essentially wasted time, material and maybe even an exotic shard to get the same thing I have. This just doesn't seem fair or logical to me and I have though of a potential solution. What if a player that had a fully upgraded exotic could exchange 3 or more exotic shards to upgrade their weapon while keeping their upgrades, and still let someone with a base exotic spend 1 exotic shard and upgrade. If you made it this far thanks for reading.

4 RepliesScariest thing about all of this is that someone at Bungie actually thought this was a great idea...
-
15 RepliesI'm not outraged. I am outraged and fvcking annoying with all you bitches complaining all over the forums! STOP!!!
-
1 ReplyOkay, okay... So let me get this straight... Before the DLC, there's not enough playtime... But now, there's too much playtime... What...
-
Give us an equivalent amount of New mats so we can respec exotics back up to whatever level it's at!!!!! P.s. I won't buy the dlc anyway....

BUMP AGAIN

9 RepliesStop whining like little kids! Leveling an exo needs about 2 days of completing pve bounties (doubled by Eris' bounties) and ~50 vanguard marks for materials. Damn, this is propably the worst gaming community ever!
-
I started a poll regarding a tweak to this system that I think makes for a decent compromise. Check it out and tell me what you think. Short description: If Xur can upgrade it, he can exchange Motes of Light for Exp specifically for unlocking upgrades on it.
-
Yes. I'm not O k with this.

UNLOCK IT BUNGIE!

Bungie up until this point I loved your game. But I want to take all my exotics into your expansion and now that I'll probably only MAYBE bring Icebreaker because of your ridiculously dumb idea to start progression over. Worst idea in history. If this isn't changed by the friday after the expansion I'll laugh.

This would make sense because, like most other rpgs or mmorpgs, require you to get new gear with better stats to participate. BUT, this ISN'T new gear! It's the same thing we have had that we have to work for again... Also as for the new legendary gear available to everyone, will make VoG gear irrelevant. So thank you, bungie for replacing one raid with another. Never buying a day 1 dlc again.
