It's a decent job, I'll hand that, it does get tough but friendly fellow employees make it bearable. But really I wonder why people think so low of this job, or other fast food joints for that one. Just gunna add this, wage wise, I'm almost 18 (about 2 weeks away) and I earn $2 under what my father earns as a Fuel Truck driver and $4 less then my sister who is a child carer.
Once I actually turn 18 the funny thing is I will earn roughly the same as my father, for the work I'm doing, it's hard but when you know what you're doing it feels like easy money. I really just wanna know why people find so much disrespect for an actual decent job.

I guess people just associate the name MacDonalds with all of the horrible media bias associated with it. Even though much of it is unfortunately true, even more of the associated media is completely incorrect. This makes people think "Why work there when I can work at Chicfila?" Dem curzy media folk.

5 RepliesI'm trying to get a job at my local movie theater. If I do, free popcorn, drinks, and movies. Only thing is that every other highschooler in my area is applying for the same job, so I have no idea if I'll get it. If worst comes to worst, McDonald's it is.

Good for you! I knew a lot of people who worked at McDonald's, Burger King, and Subway when I was in high school too. I don't know what it paid, but I know it was pretty close to minimum wage.
I really just wanna know why people find so much disrespect for an actual decent job.
I don't think people disrespect those jobs when it's someone in high school or college doing them. They offer good jobs for people in that situation (limited availability, qualifications, and prior work experience) to get started. It's more so when someone is still working an entry-level job at a fast food place well into their 30s and 40s that people ridicule. I'm not talking about franchise owners, managers, shift supervisors, etc., just the ones that have been there for a decade and a half and have never been promoted and never even tried to get anything better. That's what people disrespect more, I think.

Because fast food joints are always covered in shit. Its called a mop and yes it requires manual labor sorry. (Not talking to OP directly just making blank joke).

I wouldn't mind working at McDonald 's until I graduated from high school. I think there's bettter food chains to work at it. Espically since McD's and In-and-out are usually packed. Working at Mc D 's above 21+ would suck though

I'm sure it's better than cleaning out the chicken frying cages at KFC. But -blam!- McDonalds.

There is nothing wrong with working at McDonalds. They help they keep a lot of people employed and if you can own a McDonalds or start working in corporate McDonalds then you will be making bank

There is nothing wrong with working for McDonalds. I would love to be able to get a job there. The thing is the food they serve is shit, that's my only quarrel and why I don't eat there.

I don't know why but I don't think I could handle working at any restaurant, I didn't even apply to one when I was looking for a job. Now I work at one of our local grocery stores.

2 RepliesWell it's annoying when my order gets messed up, but I don't disrespect fast food workers by default.

5 RepliesI hate it when people poop on the floor at work, that's just nasty.

1 ReplyI worked at Mcdonold's for two long years. I was a crew trainer and maintenance man. I would operate the store when the managers were out too. I thought it was good and all at the time. Then I grabbed a job at Target............. It made Mcdonald's seem like hell. I get payed more, there is less stress and it's easier to find good workers.

5 RepliesIt takes little to no skill so it isn't very respectable.
