Anyone else quitting shortly after starting the game ?
You start the game, and then you just sit in orbit wonder what to do.
Play perhaps one portal activity and then quit out of boredom.
I wonder to how many of you this sounds familiar to.

Yeah, after years of playing it I quit by uninstalling the game completely. Played Stalker 2 - Heart of Chernobyl, got platinum. Then played Jedi Survivor and now playing through FF16. Because of D2 I collected a huge backlog of games. And my to go game now is Helldivers 2. Bungie can go F themselves with this portal nonsense.

I just did this. Logged in, checked out Zur (not sure why) and walked around a bit and logged off. There’s soooo much content that I feel is not worth playing anymore because they made all the old gear obsolete. I want to play some older content but it has to at least give me something worth using. The decisions being made with this game are just absolutely mind boggling.

I log in now and again and regret it. It really shows in every aspect of this game that the studio is the last group of people that should be handling this IP. Destiny 2 is just rotting with stagnation and apathy. Sony is insane for not noticing.

I haven't really had the time nor felt for playing for quite some time, but when I do play D2, what you describe is a feeling I often have and I quit after playing one thing. I think Destiny lost the feeling of exploration, to find what is around the corner and that interesting story that immerses you. Now it feels just like you get put in a small area with hords and hords of enemies. Renegades is better than EoF, but that does now mean it is great. Just my feeling.

I've reverted to playing almost nothing but comp and trials. Did one completion each of the new dungeon and raid just to get that out of the way, then right back to comp.

Edited by ArmyKnight75: 1/16/2026 1:35:13 AMI was, but stopped playing the game after the Witness crap. Just picked the new stuff up on sale a week or two ago and have been enjoying it again. Destiny has definitely been in better places. Take a break and play other games. Pick Bungie content up when it goes on sale until they prove that they are attempting to exceed expectations again. That’s my plan. No preorder, just wait a month or so and it goes on sale. If it sounds crappy, skip it until you hear decent things.

Edited by xbroggiex: 1/15/2026 6:49:30 PMI think this is just due to the loot system being terrible and the over "simplification" of the game, can't use the word I want because it gets censored for some reason. Sure there is a lot of things you [b]can[/b] do, but there is not a lot of reasons for you [b]to[/b] do it. Its reached the point that Destiny 2 is just done, there isn't much they can do to continue the game meaningfully that isn't just some band-aid method to keep you playing that only works for a short time. They tried putting power levelling back in the game and have already basically took a sledgehammer to it because it was awful. Their only option is a Destiny 3 even though I doubt it'll work out because current Bungie loves repeating mistakes. I also doubt D3 would gain much traction if Destiny 2 is still in an incomplete state missing a large swathe of released content.

The game generates more stress than it relieves... I'm fine with difficulty I'm just tired of all the modifiers timers and revive tokens it's a very shallow experience....

Yup, I have 1 remaining fireteam member and IF he logs on, we do three LF missions, collect rewards delete the trash (99% of loot) then he logs off and I go play other games. If he hasn't logged on I will have done a handful of active orders, maybe a couple of portal solo ops and that's it.

All the time ….few days ago I did one game of control and dipped . Very short doses seem to work well now lol

I log in for about 10 minutes once a week just so it shows activity to keep from getting booted from an almost full clan that purges inactive players monthly. I tried doing the Renegades campaign, but I'm finding it more boring than the old Caldera solo op grind from 300 to 450

Used to have this, played a lot of other stuff and even didn’t buy EoF… But now enjoy playing Renegades at my own pace, aslong as I ignore the portal…

I haven’t even bothered to hop on to see what Eververse has for bright dust in like 2 weeks. Feels nice to take a break from the game from time to time. Been locked in playing Fallout 4 and Stardew lol

I quit after years. Haven’t deleted my characters and all that nonsense but I do check in periodically. Nothing has changed. Destiny 1 for a pure PVE aspect might be ok if it was free, still you’d be locked out of content without matchmaking.

Yeah, I’ve been there. I was doing that a while ago. Moved onto not bothering to log on at all most of the time. I do drop in and play occasionally for a short term burst of activity, but drop back off soon after.
