So the studio who is horrible at balancing it's pvp mode is making a pvp focus game in a couple of months....... I see nothing that can go wrong here. It's gonna be fine.

1 ReplyEdited by Northern: 4/26/2025 7:33:54 AMMarathon looks like a low effort affair with questionable art style. I think the gameplay will get boring real fast. Players losing their inventory with each season is just bat -blam!- crazy. I get that Bungie has said that Marathon is not an AAA game, but honestly, it looks like it could have been a new game mode for Destiny.

Yeah… I watched it and wondered, “Destiny 2 was allowed to moulder for this?” I don’t know, it might turn out to be the definitive extraction style game. It might re-invent it, be an example of the best that genre has to offer or fail miserably. Destiny is SPECIAL. There is nothing else like it. No other game has ever made me feel like I have a life within it, let alone the social aspect. I have a friend who is a close friend that I talk to about things as if he were a sibling. I met him playing the strike list in D1. I played Borderlands 1 and 2 before Destiny. I met people in it who made it to my friends list then… kind of faded away. I can’t explain it. I don’t know why Destiny is unusual. It certainly isn’t perfect. It is unique. Sad that the people with power at Bungie don’t realize that there’s nothing out there like Destiny. There are lots of extraction shooters. Most are free-to-play. Marathon better knock it out of the park.

7 RepliesBungie will hype Marathon because hype is where Bungie will always overdeliver. They will suck in a playerbase made up of wide eyed newbies, bungie fanboys, experienced extraction shooter players from other games, a sprinkling of curious Destiny 2 players and players of the original Marathon / Halo days. Eventually the reality of Marathon will be revealed with anti - cheat not working as intended, wonky matchmaking, pay to win microtransactions, organised griefer squads screwing people over for fun and paid carry services available in abundance. Bungie will throw resources at Marathon to try and prop it up, diverting Destiny 2 resources in the process and lowering the expectations bar to rock bottom for all.

10 RepliesEdited by CrimzonReaper: 4/14/2025 11:11:35 AM40 bucks for one game mode and only four maps lol and they haven’t even written the script for the story yet lol. They won’t be pushing it on us long.

The funny part is if marathon fails bungie & destiny are hosed. I've seen coverage on it and the game looks so...uninspired nothing artistically pleasing to look at while I'm not a PVP person at all so I'm by default not gonna get it there's nothing distinct about the game to set it apart from its competition from what I've seen and heard.
-
Will never own Marathon 🙋♂️ who’s with me? GTA 6 can’t come fast enough and I will never consider a Bungie game again ✊
-
6 RepliesI can't wait to see Bungie come crawling back to us after Marathon fails. There is so much writing on the wall, it's obvious.
-
Even if they weren't neglecting this game. I just don't care about marathon. I'm a DESTINY player. I play destiny because I love it, not because it's a bungie game. I have zero interest in marathon whatsoever.
-
20 RepliesNobody is pushing Marathon on you. They're marketing their new game. Welcome to all of game sales ever. JFC.
-
Why does this post have so many replies?
-
10 RepliesCompletely agreed. On top of that, the game looks like another Concord. Ugly and not worth the time of day.
-
2 RepliesThey're not even going to allow proximity chat due to 'toxic players' .. 😂😂😂. It's already a clown show, and it hasn't even launched yet.. 👍
-
1 ReplyI did find it “insultingly interesting” that they made a Twab in Destiny about Marathon. BTW. I have zero interest in any game like that.
-
8 RepliesIt looks like crap beside Destiny. Maybe when they crash and burn that game, maybe they’ll spend OUR MONEY on the game WE love to play.
-
1 ReplyBorderlands 4 for the win
-
In b4 being taken down for "reasons".
-
I agree. I play Destiny 2, the genre isn't the same, so why would I want to swap games? I have zero interest in Marathon. I can honestly say, I likely have no interest in another Bungie game either but, thats a bit drastic. I'm here for Destiny andthats it. If I were interested in another game by Bungie, I know where I can find that info and subscribe to get it.
-
4 RepliesRemember “Concord” game by “SONY”, I think a few ppl from the “Bungie” team might* of been working on it too…I could be totally wrong here.
-
Sorry Bungie… Marathon looks BAD… Colors, Graphics, Gunplay, Movement ain’t it… But most of all… Marathon does NOT look FUN.
-
Agreed!!! And Marathon has to be the UGLIEST game I have ever seen come out in the past 15 years!!!! Like, what the actual F??? PASSSSSSS!!!!!
-
3 RepliesMarathon is doa, and I couldn't be happier. Though, that likely means bungie is over.
-
Concord 2

Edited by Ulzana: 4/14/2025 6:22:50 PMAfter watching the Marathon reveal, I dusted off the Division 1 and ran around NYC for a bit. I can extract loot from the dark zone if I want, but there is whole game that goes with it. Marathon ain't gonna fly unless it's more than just risk death and lose your loot. OR - Don't die and keep your loot until Bungie arbitrarliy deletes it all anyway. Not my idea of fun!
-
27 RepliesMarathon is for pvp sweats like me. Not for guys like you 0.5 kd and 1000 kills in crucible.
