I wish checkmate was literally regular Crucible with no adjusted values for HP and damage.
I think checkmate in trials failed miserably because u had to capture a zone at the same time. But that's just my opinion I really didn't like it.
The game mode just shouldn't ruin my explosive payload fatebringer to be a 4 tap.
I think the whole concept should stay out of trials though, no way of earning special is going to be fair for the other team. Since the game mode heavily relies on strong individual play or strong teammates to teamshoot with. Which doesn't always happen.

That’s why I think they should try out how special worked in D1 with multiple special crates that spawn on either spawn or middle of the map after a certain amount of time/rounds

It would definitely open up a lot more options then a singular zone does. I just can't stop thinking how messed up some special weapons are in destiny 2 compared to destiny 1. But I think I like the idea of multiple special boxes spawning in certain rounds.
