Why can’t this weapons heavy rounds cause damage to any combatant shield ?
It has to be more than just a pulse rifle that has an intrinsic barrier mod on it and the exotic brand slapped on it.
No matter what level the arbalest can take down any enemy shield. It should at the very least do the same.
What exactly makes this ZERO so special ?

It fills its roll at being a niche weapon, that’s what all exotics do. Practicality on the other hand is something else entirely.

Adaptive munitions actually should replace feeding frenzy in my opinion

Mostly, how customizable it is. Ideally, you'd be going in and not dealing with elemental shields at all with it. You'd be using an elemental weapon (with or without adaptive munitions) to take the shield down first, then swap to the kinetic to finish off (if need be). Yeah, there's better pulses out there, but RZ is more of a 'hey, this big beefy enemy doesn't have shields so swap to this alt fire and chunk some health out with Vorpal to make it easier' kind of weapon. It has its uses, but, if you don't wanna use it then you don't have to.

The heavy rounds need significant buffs for pve imo or should at least bypass shields.

5 RepliesEdited by Seki: 1/11/2023 4:23:10 AMIf you are talking about elemental shields: 1: RZ deals kinetic damage, thus will always suffer when shooting elemental shields. 2: The heavy rounds likely have low base damage but a high crit multiplyer (as snipers usually do). Since you cannot headshot an elemental shield, your damage tends to be terrible there. 3: Arbalest has a specific perk for that (Compounding force: "Fires slugs that cause massive damage to combatant shields"). And apparently even though the low base/high crit as well as the kinetic points are also true for Arbalest, apparently the "massive" damage against elemental shields is enough to break them 3.1: Arbalest uses special ammo to accomplish its great feats 4: RZ uses primary ammo (infinite) to get you sniper shots that usually require limited special ammo. Also: You can do this while not extra equipping a sniper for that. Sidenotes: -Arbalest has a -20% damage against champions that is not listed on the weapon. -RZ with Vorpal will gain a +20% damage agsint champions as it is a primary weapon. -RZ as exotic primary also gains +40% damage against red bars. -The first exotic to give us crafting choices on 2 perk slots ___ TLDR: 3.1 and 4 are probably what sets them apart in this regard (and that is justified)
