Just let players turn any 7 win card for an adept. It literally solves all the players' pains in regards to Trials.

So I put this out there on reddit as well and I'm hoping to get this out as much as possible in hopes of it being heard and hopefully implemented for literally everyone's collective benefit. This is a proposal, and hopefully convincing argument toward the action of making any 7 win card in Trials of Osiris reward a player with an adept weapon upon turning said card in (similar to how you can do the same if you were already flawless and got a 7 win card post completion just without the prerequisite of having gone flawless during said weekend.) Say what you want about the meta and how bad it is, but at the end of the day the best way to fix trials is to make it so more people are willing to even enter the playlist let alone stick around long enough for their participation to really matter. If you were to make this change, sure not every casual would enter the playlist, but casuals who want to get better would considering there would be a light at the end of the tunnel to reward them for dredging through the slog that is Trials of Osiris. Lighthouse would still have all of its cosmetic rewards and mementos. Hell getting flawless would even get them more drops considering keeping a flawless card and playing on it would let you farm for even more adepts as it is. Points are as follows. 1: This change would grab enough people to come into to the playlist to warrant the removal of flawless pool which almost everyone agrees is bad for everyone of all skill levels and it would end the practice of resetting cards. 2: Carries would still have a place considering the trials armor glow, mementos, ship, and ghost are some of the best looking cosmetics that the game has to offer whereas everyone else would still be able to have their time respected and its not a handout considering they still had to bash their faces against the wall to even get to that point. 3: Honestly this one is the most important to me, but I think it would give and show a more realistic means of improvement to a casual/semi-casual player because they can see that 7 win card and see how many losses on it when they finally get there and work to improve each time to the point where they eventually get their own flawless. 4: This would be the best way to fix the inherent "skill creep" that trials fundamentally has where only the highest echelon of skilled individuals reap the rewards and anything resembling fun that can be found in the playlist. 5: If there's more players in the playlist overall, everyone wins. The casuals have a chance of matching other casuals and sweats have more casuals to stomp to speedrun their adept farms while not completely pushing out the casuals out of the playlist outright. For context, I'll just put it out there from what perspective I play from. I'm .7 kd and I used to go flawless with friends back before Witch Queen launch. It wasn't consistent, but even if we didn't go flawless, we would sometimes play just to grind rank and get some engrams along the way. The changes in meta, cheaters, and stacked teams. You name it and we dealt with it just like everyone else. With the lulls that came from the 6 month season and the 3.0-ification of our ability kits, cheese has shown its way to reign supreme to the point where we have more fun in control even with SBMM. For those of you who will inevitably show up with your classic "git good" comments, doesn't getting good involve practice, learning, and implementing said learning from real-time application? How would one even get the motivation to get good if the nature of the game pushes you out if you aren't good already? I have to make an addendum here just to clarify what seems to be a confusing point, but turning a flawed 7 win card for an adept and getting lighthouse would be entirely separate things. After a little more than a year, I'm once again wanting to try to get this idea out there in hopes of Bungie implementing this. It's been a year and the only change that's happened since was a chance of base drops on wins and the player count still is low outside of specific maps and weapon of the given week. With overall player sentiment and data showing less and less of the player base are even willing to touch crucible in general, let alone trials, with a 10 foot pole. The very least they can do to genuinely "try" to get casuals willing to go into trials is showing them there's something waiting for them at the end of the tunnel. Yes I know that sitting on a flawed card and the implementation of practice pool exists, but how often do you find people willing to engage with even that? The final reason why I still believe this is the most viable solution for trials lack of numbers is because it's frankly the simplest to do in comparison to what others believe to be the solutions to trials. The Trials of Osiris from D1 is gone and will never come back. That's just something we as a community have to come to terms with. We have to deal with shifting metas and cheaters at levels never seen before with an admittedly nerfed security team. The way I see it, it's either this or a "we give up" update.

  • Why, crafted weapons are already better then adept weapons and you don't even have to deal with the PvP community to get them just go for the easiest loot since you can't get the hardest because of skill issues. Besides adept weapons are not a participation trophies nor will they ever be, you actually have to earn the adept weapons thats the whole point of hard content.

  • I have never got flawless but you should not get a adept for seven wins. It’s meant to be hard.

      • I don’t think we should get adept weapons for wins. All I want is random drops of base trials weapons at the end of matches like regular crucible. Reward for dealing with the beat downs.

      • agreed, suffering for the impossible 7 wins over the weekend to finally add 1 adept weapon to my collections is way more preferable to me, than just to lose all weekend and get no rewards, and absolutely no flawless chest if i don't get carried by streamers for the new adept guns.

      • I get what you're saying but ultimately trials isn't for learning how to play pvp, its end game. I'm horrific at pvp (so I'm not a gatekeeping sweat) and I think that trials is too accessible right now.

I know this is gonna sound like it’s not real but people have been saying “no free handouts” for a while and you know what, they are kinda blind on a few weapons, craftable ones. Cause it has recently come to my attention a level 20, weapon gets plus two to every stat plus the 10 you pick the masterwork for Be it range, handling, stability and all that, so the only think adept weapons have over the based craftable ones are the adept mods which are basically not worth using, so what’s this about free handouts when you get some of the truely best loot in the game for free? So pvp players should fear if stuff like vog gets a crafting system, cause I wonder how fast they will have a god tier found verdict without doing master or any aggressive pulse rifles with desperado

        • I think it's funny how people keep trying to figure out ways to get low skilled players to willingly get farmed with close to no rewards. The sweats have always been their own worst enemy.

        • Nah, I'll never go flawless and I don't think they should make it that easy to get adept guns. If flawless is required, then keep it that way. Flawless trials is meant to be difficult, not everyone is meant to go flawless. I think that's where you are getting confused. Basically the game mode was designed to be tough.

An increase in players in trials would go a long way the more players the more chance of new loot rotations and new maps plus its a win win for pvp sweats, ops idea makes it a bit easier for sweats to farm their god rolls too

          • Adept weapons are for Flawless players. For 7-wins and a flawed card, you can have a small trophy that says, “I tried” on the front.

          • People keep bringing up the 7 win card with with losses should be rewarded an adept weapon but that’s like someone running a gm loses all there tokens and some how gets an adept weapon. How does that make since?

            1. Any 7 win card is one adept. No cosmetics. 2. Flawless is two adepts with extra perks, and unique, flawless only, armor ornaments, ships, sparrows, shaders, and ghost shells. 3. Flawless farm on 7 wins is more drops that come from the chest. 4. Non-flawless 7 win farm is less frequent adepts without extra perks. No cosmetics. 5. Remove flawless pool. 6. Add team-based matchmaking to remove freelance. (Teams match teams, solos and duos only match solos and duos OR teams that can result in a "competetive" match. Solos do beat stacks on occasion when the stars align.) 7. Actually support the playlist and sandbox every season with good loot and refinements. Boom. People will play.

            • Trials needs an overhaul in my opinion. Me personally I’d play it more if my time put in trials are rewarding but honestly it’s not. I kinda like trials but the system (loot wise) is too stingy. I like your idea but trials loot need to drop after every match as well. tbh gambit is more rewarding compared to trials.

            • 1.4 player with triple digit flawless that helps friends and clan get through trials here. I actually agree that they need to remove the 7 win flawless condition for adept weapons but maybe leave it for cosmetics or something else. People say leave something for the sweats but let’s face it this is currently not hard for sweats. I don’t even care if they make it super grindy to get adepts. That will keep people in the playlist.

              • Literally one adept for a seven win (3 loss tap out/reset, non farmable) card would be great for the health of the game mode. Adept guns should be a warranted reward for time put in . Shaders emblems ornaments maybe even materials that allow you reroll adepts into your God roll specifications would be what true flawless rewords you with.

                • Why not try it? Nobody uses Trials weapons in Trials anyway so getting an adept isn’t a big deal. Too bad this will get shot down to oblivion because of e-peens and egos. Nice try though. I bet it would be one of the best weekends.

                  • I agree, but I don't think that's enough to fix the playlist. Trials with Flawless as a concept will always just be a bad playlist, anything that mitigates the effects of that is good in my book. I got the Flawless seal and stopped playing Trials altogether, because the playlist is just not fun enough. I don't enjoy getting curbstomped 24/7 by teams with collectively 1000 lighthouse trips. There's no point, and I'm pretty sure most people feel the same. Otherwise the playlist wouldn't keep bleeding players as it does.
