We're all just a bunch of addicts, aware of our addiction. We're just too hooked to stop despite our awareness. We know we shouldn't care so much about 1's and 0's but we do. We live for it. You find more purpose in this artificial reality compared to real life. Day after day, you sit in your gaming chair and ignore that voice of reason in the back of your head desperately pleading for a reality check. You have people worried about you. Truly, you're worried about yourself. A disillusioned livelihood that is fueled by boredom, insecurity and a lack of confidence. Your existence is more than just digital. Rendered sunshine just doesn't compare to the real thing.

If Destiny died tomorrow, while unfortunate, I wouldn't care. I have other games in my spare time as well. People just have a hard time understanding that game development is a business above all else. If a developer has success with a direction you don't like, just move on with your life and stop buying the god damn product(s). Find something you DO like. Its really that simple. Most of this nonsense is pure entitlement based on purchase. But judging from the multiple forums, some Guardians really do have issues to sort through and it's clear their escape from responsibility is video gaming addiction.

Edited by Jamestown01010: 5/7/2020 2:52:22 AMNo worries...Bungie announced they are going to offer Eververse Rehab services for 10k silver in the next season. If you pawned your grandma’s jewelry to afford some emotes, this may be an option.

And you’re just making assumptions

2 RepliesFirst of all, I don't have a gaming chair. I live in a cave and use a dirty rock to comfort my buttocks. Second, I live in a cave. My family disowned me because of this and they are not worried about me. Thirdly, Rendered sunshine is the only thing I have. My cave doesn't ever see the sun.

I mean I might be in denial but if you look at my situation, no friends and never goes outside, you might be half right
-
I can and have stopped whenever I wasnt enjoying the game, sure i have gotten on for maybe a few hours to turn stuff in but there has been months of my history where i didnt log in at all
-
I don’t have a problem... really... I don’t 😂
-
I can stop whenever I want to...I just don't want to right now.

1 ReplyAccurate. Completely accurate. Though I would say the dealer shares a big part of the blame. Bungie knew what it was doing. Modern games are casinos.

Shut up ... you. Just shush your damn mouth!

1 ReplyThe only reason I can bear playing D2 is that I have a fantastic life that doesn't involve gaming. When I do game, I can pick it up for a few hours, or minutes sometimes, and enjoy the repetitive gunplay for as long as I can, then, I have something meaningful and enjoyable to turn to, be it my wife (literally my childhood fantasy come true), my job (which I love) or my home improvement projects. If I was solely a gamer I would have deleted destiny by now. It's a casual game, struggling desperately to become an E-sport, while having absolutely no clue how to make that happen, and ending up at a place that very few can enjoy.

Best post in this forum EVER!!!! ;)

1 ReplyI'm not in denial, I'm in the next phase. Anger, that's why I'm here in the forums crapping on Bungie. I was almost fully done with this game once before, but I let myself bargain and I convinced myself I could play casually. There are articles out there about Bungie's use of behavioral science, it's a real thing. They made this game as addictive as they could. Some people can hop from game to game playing as casually as they want, and they probably don't get it. But for those of us with a gaming addiction problem, yeah the OP is right. A lot of people are still in denial.

👆 This guy gets it. This is the most accurate description of players like me in our little corner of the Destiny Community spectrum. We know it’s repetitive. We know our loot will be cancelled out. We know Destiny 3 will make D2 obsolete. We are wasting hours. What are we doing? “Let’s head to the Tower for more bounties, I really gotta pound it in this week to finish my objectives, someone kill me. . .”

4 RepliesI've already covered this in once of my informative posts about how Destiny gets you into a routine, and those habits are hard to break. I called it before everyone else and I deserve credit for it.

1 ReplyHaven't played a single day of this season, just cant bring myself to do it anymore. Work a full time job and theres plenty of well made fleshed out games out there to occupy some spare time 😏
-
1 ReplyNice post👍 though it appears that you touched a nerve with a few addicts

I think at this point more than 50% or the remaining player base know D2 is in a bad state, but don’t care. Git loot, git good, git out.

Edited by L30nCrisofilax: 5/5/2020 4:50:51 PMIm finally free from addiction, I just play D2 PvP when I’m bored, no point to play a boring bunkers shit

Edited by Trafalgar_Lou: 5/5/2020 10:39:03 AMI stoped playing at the start of S10. If anyone can still play this right now they are addicted to the smooth gun play and RNG gambling. Everything els currently sucks so it can’t be the gameplay. Unless your addicted to clearing bunkers and throwing a ball at....well another ball.
