Original post from Yuno, Copy and pasted due to being locked for having links for proof of cheating.
Because of the cheating situation, which has been present in comp since Shadowkeep when the game first went free to play, it is very clear that trials being part of new light is a mistake.
The way things are now it is very easy to get away with cheating if you want to. Make an account and profit, a couple weeks later maybe you get banned. Make a new account for free. If you get IP banned, VPN or get your IP changed. If you get HWID banned you can spoof it. None of this is hard and lets people who want to cheat be able to do it very easily.
This is big enough of a problem in comp. In trials cheating will be WAY worse, considering the paid account recoveries you can do and the rewards on the line.
I do not believe you should need to buy season of the worthy. Charging for content that we paid for 5 ears ago sounds like a PR nightmare and I can already see the complaints. But I believe you should need to have bought SOMETHING in order to have access to trials, be it a dlc or a season. I dont know what the specific parameters would be but I know for a fact that this,
Should not be in trials.

12 RepliesStated yesterday that you have to be 960 to enter trials.
-
5 Repliesi don't understand why anyone would want to cheat.. you can't keep any of the gear so its for what? the experience? you're wasting people's time and ruining their day because you want to be a clown
-
3 RepliesYou shut your porthole, friend Newbs should absolutely play Trials. Whenever Im playing.
-
Well, if you think about it from a business perspective, it's kind of genius. Each time they are banned, they have to make a new account. "Wow, look! We're still getting new players!" They then have to regrind for their weapons and to gain light level. Which is time spent in-game and provides Bungie profits. Conspiracy theory 101.

4 RepliesIts more of a PC issue with all the hackers over there. Makes me glad im on PS4 wirh everyone else.

I heard that supposedly there is supposed to be a thing or two that you have to do before trials can even be accessed. Besides I don't think they would bring trials back after hyping it up if they weren't somewhat prepared for cheaters. They have to at least have some trick up their sleeves. I mean the pinnacle of pvp, free to everyone, including new light players? That's practically begging for cheater to com flooding in. I'm just saying why wouldn't they bring back trials if they weren't at least confident that they could fight cheaters. But then again this is Bungo we're talking about, this could go either way.
-
You have to be at least 960 to participate in Trials. Consider the vast majority of cheaters gone.
-
2 RepliesYou have to be 960....lol
-
Have to be 960 so that should help with smurfs!
-
I heard they will be using real time banning, no review, so they won't use someone else's account to get it insta banned
-
14 RepliesCompletely agree. D1 was bad for being IP Attacked if your team wasn't host, D2 being pure Peer to Peer will be a complete fecal storm of it, especially on Console where Bungle doesn't even check for it.
-
3 RepliesCheating is definitely a problem But it's not fair to have playstation and Xbox new light players suffer because of it.
-
15 RepliesAnd why does Trials deserve any special consideration? You pvp people are hilarious.
-
2 RepliesI read somewhere it’s a 960 light minimum to enter
-
5 RepliesHonestly cheating will happen regardless... even if it wasn't free to new light players. Because the people being paid to "carry" would just add the cost of the season to the person paying. I think making them grind to 960 is the best way cause as a new light I think you start at 750? So would cause them to have to grind a new burner account at least an hour or more to get that light level
-
Seriously, couldn't they just take the video out vs locking the whole thread?
-
Bungie will do what they do. 1.Trials will start as planned 2. keep an eye on things, monitoring for cheaters and hackers, consider their options for anti-cheat etc. 3. nerf fusion rifles.
-
Edited by Bliss: 3/4/2020 9:20:31 AMagreed, making it free opens the doors to more cheaters and returning cheaters as well as recoveries... either get a pay wall or actual anti cheat or both although i can see why more players in trials is good (more players, faster matchmaking etc)
-
Agree
-
3 RepliesWhile I agree, they did say you have to be 960 to enter. So even a fresh character would take some grinding unless they are spawning in gear
-
5 RepliesI'm not sure how spending money is a great barrier against cheaters. A better anti cheat system is preferable. Besides, why should console players suffer the pay wall when there is zero cheating on console?
-
10 RepliesCheating is not that common. These videos, etc are pretty rare and they get banned easily. Stop over reacting.
-
2 RepliesWhen you want to put out a fire, the best way to do that is to PUT OUT THE FIRE....not stand there waving at the smoke. The best way to deal with cheating is to go AFTER the cheaters. Putting Trials behind a paywall isn't going to deter the most problematic cheaters. Because those cheaters aren't doing it for fun. They're doing it for money.

10 RepliesEdited by Eriena: 3/3/2020 10:14:44 PM[REDACTED] I mean LOOK AT THIS SHIT 😂😂😂 I dare you to ban me Spawn. This is a public Twitter post, anybody could find this on their own.
Ninja Edit: I’ve removed the link. Regardless of where the information comes from, it still falls under name and shame, which is against the code or conduct.
4 RepliesIt’s funny. I’ve been saying trials coming back with so many issues in the game is a terrible idea yet so many people just ignore that. Cheating/bans and false bans, sandbox will likely not be in a good place for it, games tick rate and sleeper weapons clash so so much. To name a few but man I want a reason to play pvp through balance not a game mode that didn’t really do much

1 ReplyTrials has always been the breeding ground for cheating sweaties and good money earners for them for paid carries which is also cheating. If you have a advantage over others from cheating mod controllers, elite controllers to dail in the trigger , just good old hacking or paid carries then you're cheating scum that ruins it. When you consider all that flawless means nothing. They took it away before because they couldn't stop this rubbish and they brought it back because like everything else they have brought back it's because they lack real new content always have just reskins of old d1.
