So we start with shadowkeep that has a story with Eris and the pyramid ships..
Than we get invaded by vex on the moon...
Now we are returning to Mercury to continue the Curse Of Osiris story that we never got and they are charging money for it.. Another 6 manned arena mode..
I've been around for 5 years on a daily basis but ever since D2 it's just a bunch of random DLCs and season activites that has no significant game value and no red line. Why not just stay on the path and Crete content that is based on ONE story that we can follow??
The game is all over the place now days. Indentity crisis, lack of passion or just lack of management?
I don't understand this game anymore..

what is there to understand ? . all you do is shoot aliens and collect loot plus level up there are no rocket science to understand games .

2 RepliesJust a reminder that Uldren revived as a Guardian. I would be exited, but I just decided to quit D2 until they abandon this very_clearly_a_scam seasonal system.
-
4 RepliesThat's how it is now. A seasonal horde mode and some half assed story elements every 10 weeks.
-
2 RepliesDude, it's TOTALLY going to be resolved in D3.
Just kidding... the only "creativity" going on is figuring out how to justify reusing assets for the 3rd or 4th time.
-
And D1 wasn’t? Fight a random vex boss you’ve never heard about to stopping a hive god from taking vengeance to a random outbreak of red stuff. You kids are so blinded by nostalgia.
-
12 RepliesIf you expect robust storytelling, you've come to the wrong game. Shoot adds, carry a ball, dunk ball, jump on a platform, kill boss, rinse, reskin and repeat.
-
The story is very disjointed. Kinda pathetic.
-
You are very correct Krillert. This story just keeps swirling like water in a toilet bowl. Shitty water 👍
-
20 RepliesMeanwhile Uldren is just??? Alive somewhere??? Dreaming City Curse has been active for over a year? Aight bet

Edited by GalaxySpider: 12/9/2019 4:53:49 AMDestiny DLCs and Seasons were always a collection of small stories, including all the lore stuff going on (Last Word) we occasionally participate in. Plus, all the little things we do when someone calls us for help (Ana Bray). Not to mention there is actually is no clear storyline at all. I mean, the story since the start of D1 is: Defend the traveler from the Darkness or any other threat. This includes the yearly DLC where we always have to deal with a big direct threat to the Traveler (Oryx, Siva Fallen, Nightmares, etc). That's all.
-
Edited by TheArtist: 12/9/2019 1:10:13 PMThe game isn't all over the place. Read the lore....all these events are connected. The whole point of this game has been----from day one----the story of our individual Guardian, in the background of Epic events.

The world doesn't work like that. Why should a fictional world work oppositely? There are multiple different storylines that all lead to one thing: the coming war. End of invitations of the nine? Pyramid Calus' plan to be the last thing alive and use us to do it? Pyramid Shin wanting us to tempt the dark but not become consumed? You don't need to guess If you're reading the narrative previews, you'd know that killing the undying mind caused the timeline to self-implode, leading to a world where one of the pyramids replaces the traveler on earth. This actually does make sense because the unveiling lore book reveals that the darkness is coming to hear our answer on if we are to side with them or the dark. Season of the Undying was started by raiding the black garden after the unknown artifact started emitting signals. Osiris sees the future, shats himself, and starts trying to fix it.

It's a big universe with lots of moving parts and a wide range of conflicts. If we stayed on the same path fighting the same war at all times, then other players would be asking to venture off to different worlds to fight new battles. I hear what you're saying in that the direction seems to shift around quite a bit, but I think that's partly what sets the universe apart from other big titles out there.
-
That’s kinda the point. It follows a non linear path. Things go to shit in multiple parts of the universe. Problem here, problem there, problem everywhere. Oops we created a problem by fixing the last one.
-
100% agree.

There are somethings in the world better off for not knowing this is one of them - Ada Wong ( Resident Evil 4 )

I've been playing Destiny since D1 and never really watched a Cinematic cutscene because they are just daft. Some celebrate the lore, but I could care less what they try to fix on cards OUTSIDE the game. The story is a joke.

Also. No one seem to reflect the fact that we are paying for playble content that is time limited and not re-playble once the season is gone. Instead of focusing on the current planted stores and building upon those (Forsaken for example) they are adding new layers to the game that they need to take away since they can't expand the game anymore. I can't see how this strategy is defendable. Yes Destiny always had a cluttered storyline. However just because the story has many different parallel timelines doesn't mean they all need to be played out in the game all at the same time and certainly not in this continued disfunctional order as it is now ever since Forsaken. Defend it how ever you like but I just feel they need to get their shit togheter for once and be more distinct in how they tell the stores in game and how it playes out in game. I don't want to read or listen to a -blam!-ing book to be able to understand the game. If I want to read I buy a book and I buy games to play the game. It's not that complicated that some smartheads here are trying to make it. All other games seem to be able to pull it of so why not Destiny?

3 RepliesI understand people that suck at any game mode use Jotunn.

2 RepliesI think they’re making it up as they go

I have to disagree with you. Ever since d1 we’ve always had multiple different story lines both in the main storyline to introduce us to all the factions and enemies and for each new dlc with little idea if/how they have anything to do with each other. This caused a lot of people to accuse d1 of bad storytelling. D2 had a less scattered vanilla campaign in the red war but still jumped from storyline to storyline with the dlcs having their own contained loosely connected storylines much like d1. D2Y2 had the least focus on already established story since ROI in D1 with much of it not significantly progressing the overarching story arcs of the franchise. The main point I’m trying to make is that all the various campaigns/stories/dlc have mostly been us dealing with the biggest threats as they come up and change. This however is the first time the actions of every player has had an impact on the story progression (that we’ve been told at least). Our fight with the vex and eventual killing of the undying mind in so many timelines (cause vex travel through time) has skewed the timelines and now we have to try to fix it along with stopping the cabal from doing exactly what we just did but for their benefit, the trailers literally tell us this. As for saving saint 14, this might not be connected but I would have done it anyway cause it’s saint 14. Just to be clear this is in no way me complaining about the story or storytelling of the game, just saying I think the OPs depiction of it is inaccurate. I don’t see the storytelling as getting worse I think it’s mostly remaining consistent with how it’s always been and if anything I can see how they’re trying to improve it by involving the entire community in its progression. I’ve always enjoyed the stories and even more so when I started trying to follow the lore and seeing some of the deeper connections and details of the various stories.

Who ever did from the start ??? I enjoy blowing 💩up . Like anything there going to be issues.

1 ReplyNope, Neither do Bungie The writing & the threading together of story, gameplay, reason why we’re fighting anything/anywhere etc Is the worst it’s been since D2 arrived
-
2 RepliesI don’t understand how the Vex portal behind Ikora is supposed to be complete now. I look at it and it’s clearly unfinished. Maybe it’s a metaphor for how Bungie handle everything?
-
It happens when you strip a game down to sell in chunks.
-
1 ReplyI don’t even think they have a clue when it comes to the story, honestly.
