I am SICK TO DEATH of being told how to play/what gear to use.
I play middle-tree Striker Titan, I use Bygones, IKELOS shotgun and Thunderlord. I run Year-One Iron Banner armor with the Armamentarium.
That's what I LIKE!
I DON'T WANT TO USE SMGs AND FUSION RIFLES.

And you people have the AUDACITY TO LOCK IRON BANNER ENGRAMS BEHIND QUEST STEPS WHICH FORCE ME TO USE CRAP THAT I DON'T LIKE/WANT.
This shit's getting old. No, this shit got old over a year ago.
It's gonna be a beautiful blamming day when you stop catering EXCLUSIVELY to the vocal minority of players who want everything to be a long, drawn-out tedious mind-numbing grindfest.
Jeesus H Christ, I already work for a living. I play video games to ESCAPE work. This shit's a chore.

all it has done is force me to play with weapon types that i suck with when using. not that i'm great to begin with, but i get stomped when using fusion and or SMGs. so this is beneficial to those players who are going against me...

2 RepliesI'm with you OP - i don't mind weapons being locked behind tediously long quests but why the hell are engrams locked. and especially in pvp which i play under protest. really doesn't make the game fun. And to the guy that said he did it all in one game - well bully for you - have a cup of my tears! you're obviously a much better person than i'll ever be!

I am still wondering what the point of the bounty was in the 1st place. I did not receive any reward upon completing it other than I was able to turn in tokens and open the engrams. Prior the engram was grayed out. So what was the point? Seems they didn't want people who had saved tokens to be able to just turn them in so they -blam!- blocked them for a short period of time?

I get what your saying but this IB grind is a walk in the park compared to others, you want forced gameplay, try getting the Hush bow in Gambit, the Breakneck, or the Delerium, not to mention the crucible pinnacle weapons or the Vanguard ones either, Wendigo anyone? I used to enjoy Gambit now I hate it with a passion. I get you have a play style you like, I have a couple of default load outs I almost always run but this IB is not the dead horse to flog, it’s way easier and quicker than its ever been, plus sometimes being forced into a different play style yields a few unexpected surprises and might change your mind on your load out.5

Nah yo u can get bent. You don’t have to do the bounty. That’s all there is to it. There’s more game here than just the way you want to play. If you are too stubborn to do the task to get the reward, you don’t get the reward. Do you think you should be rewarded with raid gear by playing quickplay crucible? You don’t. So why should you get your powerful reward without playing? Do you like melees? Well if you don’t do them you don’t get the memory of vel tarlow completion. Well that’s too bad for you. Maybe try being rational instead of flat out -blam!- like a child at the creators of this game you obviously enjoy.

Let's force people to use suboptimal loadouts/weapons that they're not good with in order to get anything out of the event and thus feed their brains out and throw games. -blam!- fusion rifles.

I'd like to take this time to apologise to anyone I killed in IB with either Erentil or whatever SMG (recluse probably) I am going to use in order to complete the quest steps. Its not my fault, Bungie forced me to use them because they want everyone to play their way.

Long grindfest? The quest took me 13 games to complete.... holy crap -blam!- much!

Wèeeeeeeell when you do one quest step you get the gun you need for the quest step and it has had it power level increased it needs like 10 to 15 kills the you can use what ever you want for the rest of the quest step... get over it you whinning chump. ITS free power leveling for using the wepons the game gives you.

I agree entirely. I also hate playing Gambit but that is forced upon us if we want to progress certain quests and triumphs. In most cases the things you are forced to do don't relate to any story elements or plot lines, they are just random requirements to prop up the numbers in areas where Bungie needs that.

1 ReplyHere at bungie player investement and playing the way you wanted is really important to us. Thats why we nerfed everything this season and now force you to use guns with barrier and overcharge rounds (which btw take your only gun mod slot)...

it annoyed me quite a bit too. wasted tons of time getting the grenade launcher kill thing until i noticed that you could just use energy weapons that are grenade launchers. or that is what i thought, until the quest step stopped counting at 6 and didnt update at all. stayed up til something like 5am because i just wanted to finish this already but since nothing happend i decided to take a rest, apparently energy weapon grenade launchers dont count. log in the other day, all of a sudden i get random iron banner gear gewards after accepting black forge bounties. so for whatever reason the game only updated after i accepted another bounty... that was such a pointless chain of using random weapons.

I mean i agree that alot of things are in this game but this was far from the long quest it was last season come on now! I did it i a couple of hours on one character.... this to me is realy complaining just to complain, last season it took some multiple weeks on all characters to complete the quest. For this i did on 2 characters in just 4/5 hours playing...

2 RepliesFirst off I think you need to take a chill pill lol. No need to act like a nobhead 🤦🏻♂️. Now to your complaint I disagree that it’s a problem. Having these weapon types needed to complete the quest like not only makes people try something they might of avoided, but shakes up the stale meta. I didn’t see too many shotgunning last night when I was playing with was refreshing. If you really have that big of a issue in changing your loadout, just do what i did and not bother with that quest and just work on the bounties. It’s a easy fix if you think about it.

honestly dude its easy and you'll finish that before you finish the bounties. in the time you took to write everything here you could be done. I'm almost certain they give you the fusion rifle and smg to complete those parts as you move through it.

I don’t like SMGs and fusion but it took me around 5-6 matches to get the quest done for those two weapons, btw SMG is the last step. [spoiler]git gud[/spoiler]

I’m not telling you what to do, but you are missing out on a lot of the game if you only stick to specific load outs/classes/characters.

10 RepliesI KNOW RIGHT!? I mean just the other day I was playing skyrim, and the dungeon I went into was filled with bandits. Bullshit! I wanted to fight dragons, but if I was going to be able to do that dungeon, I was FORCED AT POINT OF GUN to kill bandits by Bethesda because they're TrAaAaSsShH And then I was playing the division and wanted to get the chatterbox. They had the audacity to make me go get hyena caches to unlock it. I wanted to farm outcast caches, by Ubisoft are JERKS and FORCED ME to farm Hyenas. ItS mY gAmE lEt Me PlAy HoW I wAnT. Then I played FF14 to get my Anima weapon. You won't even believe the control here. They made me get luminous crystals from Fates. I DONT WANT TO DO FATES. How dare they force me to play MY game the way I want. I wanted to do dungeons. They MADE me do fates. WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH It's almost like games give directed objectives, but no that would make way too much sense. BULL they're telling me how to play!
