Actually the largest portion are looong gone. Bungie is still clearly not done cutting it down either. One thing is clear from Luke’s address these changes are here to stay. But this community is a pale comparison to what it was.

  • No it has largest active players since curse of Osiris the lowest population has ever been so of course it looks good. Don’t you dare say release or your numbers will look truly pathetic 900,000 compared to 13 or 14 million

  • ... I had to reread this stupid post 5 times... Do you realize every game loses 90% of its "population" about a month after release right? You are trying to count people who... Game Shared Just Rented The Game Only Was Interested In the Campaign Bought the Game But Never Played More than Once Or Even Compled The Campaign People who leant the game to a friend. ETC ETC ETC EVEN COD Loses 90% or MORE of its playerbase within less than a month or even MMOs. One million active players... holy shit most MMOs can't get that after release and would kill for those numbers.

It held those numbers up to second year d1 first year d1 numbers are estimated at 26 million but not really backed up with concrete evidence it was just rhetoric at the time. This game has lost a substantial amount of players. And on the average day of the week cod has about 3 million but to be far that is across numerous versions hey I get it you like the game. You think it’s great. And from the sounds of Luke smith he thinks it great too. But their numbers aren’t enough. No, no one would kill for destinys numbers activision bailed because of Destiny’s numbers. Do some quick math and see if 900,000 times an average of 35 US dollars is enough in your mind to run that company as it stands right now for the next year? And that’s IF all 900,000 buy it. And I don’t think so If you think it is cool. Go you. Nothing foolish about my post you just don’t disagree with it because you like the game and think it’s great several million people would and did disagree but good news for you as of right now nothing is changing. So go you! And on another note only two games I can think of that lost 90% of their community in 30 days at launch were no mans sky and anthem both herald as a complete fail. Not sure where you go that number from.....but ya.

  • Okay, then look at MMOs. They sometimes have less of an active playerbase but they have a steady stream of income because of what? Either monthly subs or... microtransactions. That's what the main purpose of those are for. I doubt you have a business degree nor are in the game dev world. You need to reread that Activision article, because the board of directors for Activision were PIIIIIIISSSED at them losing Destiny, so much so there was an investigation for the business malpractice that happened. CoD only ever had those numbers shortly after release, I played CoD for years and the active player numbers taht were IN-GAME would barely go over 100k players even on weekends on Xbox which at the time was were CoD thrived, PC? LOLz CoD has been dead on PC for a looong time. So magically you are saying 1 platform was bringing in a couple million players actively every week? You clearly have the wrong data post release. You need to understand that the 26 million players... weren't ACTIVE players. They use those numbers for players that created a Destiny character. If you quit, you were counted in that 26 million player count.

  • I doubt you even read my post. Because you completely miss quoted what I said. I mean honestly I am not having this debate with you. And they just started calling destiny an mmo recently. It’s mmo ish at best. But as I said. Not having this debate. Lots of luck have a great day. Also......they weren’t “mad” as you put it. They were astonished on the lack of return on investment on Destiny. And I have been a business man for 27 years now so I know a thing or two. I have a tendency to watch the business side of life. No need to reply back you win.......
