Persistent Playlist Matchmaking Issue

Connecting to the internet [u]without[/u] a [u]router[/u]. Going [u]wired[/u] directly into cable modem. Windows firewall is [u]disabled[/u] If I launch the game and attempt to launch myself directly into fireteam/gambit/crucible matchmaking my game will appear to desync from the servers after finding a full fireteam and refuse to connect with the fireteam host. If I hit F1 and visit my player menu all of the equipment icons are invisible and the screen is just a silver background with spinning loading icons in the middle. If I hit "U" to view my party I see the names of the people the game is attempting to connect me with but the entire screen is just black with white text. Chat with that fireteam does not appear to work. This issue seems to only resolve itself upon launching the game I first visit the traveler and then launch into matchmaking. This only works for the first strike etc This is the only battle.net game that I own(WoW,SC2,Overwatch,Hearthstone,D3) with this particular issue and I have to say its quite "gamebreaking". Can someone please help me?
